The Howe 5th and 6th grade Bulldogs won their 24th consecutive game when these two classes have been paired together Saturday's game was the closes margin of victory that the Bulldogs have had all season, thanks to the Tom Bean strategy of keep-a-way
Tom Bean won the coin-toss and deferred to the second half giving Howe the ball to start the game
The Bulldogs went 54 yards on four plays and took the early lead when Gage Troxtell scored from the two yard line. Cooper Jones scored the 2-point conversion on a pass from Jacob Campbell Howe led, 8-0 with 4:21 left in the first
Tom Bean started their drive at their own 48 yard line with 4:17 left in the first quarter They made it as far as the 10 yard line and took the entire first and second quarter on the drive, but were turned away by a great play by Troxtell and Jones to end the half and allow no points to Tom Bean
The Tomcats got the ball back to start the second half from their own 36 yard line The pushed the
K-2nd grade standings ball as far as the Howe 23 yard line and held the ball the entire third quarter On the first play of the fourth quarter, Howe's Mahlon Walker tackled the Tomcat ball carrier for a 8-yard loss on fourth down to give Howe the ball back. The Bulldogs went 61 yards on six plays to score Fullback Marshall Larsen carried it over from the one yard line Howe's 2-point conversion was no good and Howe led 14-0 with 2:49 left in the game
Tom Bean took the ball at their own 33 yard line but couldn't get past the Howe 42 yard line.
The time management tactic by Tom Bean allowed Howe only 10 plays of offense on only five minutes of time of possession in game's 28 minutes Unfortunately, this led to very little playing time for about 10 of the 31 Howe players The coaching staff of Michael Portman, Thomas Troxtell, and Monte Walker thank the parents for their patience and understanding of the situation
The Bulldogs are now 4-0 and have scored 122 points and allowed 0 They will take on Trenton on Saturday at S&S at noon Trenton is also 4-0 and unscored on (115-0)
