New students to Howe total 95

If parents noticed an increase in traffic around the elementary and middle school campus, it is for very good reason - Howe ISD just obliterated a record in enrollment with 1,112 the previous high was 1,056 back in 2013-14 The elementary has an increase of 64 students from a year ago while the middle school has increased by 15 and the high school increased its enrollment by 16 Total numbers for the elementary school equal 455, middle school 333, and high school 324 for a total of 1,112

It is a homecoming for Matt Whitworth who was selected in a special meeting called by the Howe City Council on Tuesday night Whitworth, a native of Howe and a 1990 Howe High School graduate will now take over as police chief The position came open in July when former Chief Carl Hudman resigned to take a similar position in Alaska Whitworth says that he hopes that his career will end in Howe just as it began a number of years ago when he was a patrol

Shooting on highway leaves one dead

Howe Police Chief Matt Whitworth, serving on his first day on the job as chief in Howe, told the Howe Enterprise that the HPD is investigating a shooting that occurred on southbound US Highway 75 at approximately 6:35 pm on Thursday evening

Whitworth said that the Texas Rangers were called in to help with the investigation

“At this time we’re in the beginning stages and it’s likely to be tomorrow before we give anymore more information on it,” said Whitworth on Thursday evening
