The students said that the bonding experience was even more important than the project itself. Vice President Hannah Brown impressively gave a recap of the project that the team combined to make successful
“We were give supplies and a certain number of weeks and we had to create a robot to collect the most amount of points ” said Brown “There was programming as well as budgeting and accounting so that we use everything in the most precise way that we could There was a marketing presentation and a booth that we had set up to go through and explain our process We had interviews with judges and then rounds with our robots ”
Members of the team said that they found it very special because it was the first year under the UIL and they were able to compete at state “Being seniors and the chance to go to state feels pretty good ” said one team member
“It was a good learning experience for us.” said Brown “We learned how to work together and we partnered people together that had probably never talked with each other before and it was great experience ”
The district also recognized the ag program which also recently competed at state. Ag teacher Ronald Blum told the board that the students started back at the first of the school year and he had selected individuals to be on leadership teams that compete in the fall with a chance to go on to state competition

“You have to find out where their strengths are and put them in the right place ” Said Blum We were unique enough to have four teams qualify for state contest That’s pretty exceptional that we were able to do that ”
Mati Abner was state champion in Creed Speaking out of 795 participants She also finished sixth overall from 537 participants throughout the state in the Job Interview category
Kindle Catching, Allie Morgan and Mikayla Doty finished tenth of 389 teams that competed in Public Relations
