Howe's That The difference between a long single and an old wives tale apparently is about five feet. I was a little bit late for the alumni baseball game due to the city council meeting starting at 6 pm. I can only blame myself as I was the most long-winded person in the meeting. However, upon showing up to the game, still in my suit, I somehow talked myself and my still new knee replacement into taking a swing off of the freshman Mason Riggs. He has some pretty good gas for a ninth grader and I grounded out weakly to third. I figured my night was over and I'd retire 0 for 1. But my turn came back up in the order and I decided to give it another try. This time Tanner Hartsfield was on the hill. He threw me a fastball on the outside part of the plate (called strike) which allowed me to sit dead red on another fastball. In my head, it was just like the movie Bull Durham (quick bat, quick bat, quick bat). I then swung at hit a moon shot to left that I immediately knew was going out. I went into my full home run trot (which is the same as my sprint these days) and began to think about the Kurt Gibson fist pump around second base that I was going to do. Then, as I get ready to round first, the ball hits off of the wall. I took my dress pants, shirt and shoes back to the dugout being replaced with pinch runner Garret Fulenchek.

The season ended short of the girls' expectations in this 2015-16 season but just as the Howe Bulldogs varsity football team ran into a buzz saw in the area round of the playoffs against West Rusk, The Lady Bulldogs in the same round fell to a team, that in the end, was just simply better. It's a much easier way to exit the playoffs than to lose to a team non-
