School Board extends Wilson's contract through 2017 In the January Howe ISD Board of Trustees meeting, the members approved the contract extension of Kevin Wilson for another year which will give him ten full years as superintendent of Howe ISD. The ten year period makes Wilson the longest tenured superintendent of Howe since Charles R. Thompson, who served in that same capacity for 23 years from 1949-1972.
In November, the UIL released its cutoff numbers for enrollment, so many have been able to make educated guesses about which classifications the North Texas area schools will compete in over the next two school years. Hancock in 2006, Wilson made the transition to superintendent. Wilson was a principal during the fiscal rough times of the district in the 2002-2003 school year. In an August 2014 interview, he said, "It was a challenge. It caught a lot of people offguard, but we banded together. Everybody hunkered down and we weathered the storm." Wilson, since being superintendent has said that he's most proud that Howe ISD has maintained their fiscal stability throughout the legislative budget cuts in 2011 and been able to

The Texoma Patriots are inviting the citizens of Grayson County to take part in the Candidate Forum and straw poll for the Grayson County Republican Primary Race for the County Commissioners of Precincts 1 and 3 as well as the race for the District Attorney. The event is tonight at 7p.m. and will be held at Buck Snort BBQ, 224 East Jefferson St in Van Alstyne.
3A Division I 319 – 479 3A Division II 221 – 318 Howe will move up to Division I in Class 3A but there are several options for landing. Howe's new district could very well be Pottsboro, Van Alstyne, Farmersville, and Commerce. The renewed rivalry with Van Alstyne is always such a treat.
