Texas Home Emporium is the latest of several businesses that have revitalized the downtown district. Most recently, Caraway opened Howe Mercantile just after Howe's own Howe Development Alliance and chamber office opened in late April
Prior to that, Advantage Business Machines moved into 105 E Haning, which housed Chisum's One Stop for so many years
Abby's Restaurant relocated from Tioga to Howe's downtown in April of 2014, just after Don's Smokehouse revitalized the north side alley building My Estrella was the first business of all of the current ones to march on the scene Salvage Junky was also one of the first to play a role and has since moved just down the street
Walker says that two different restaurants are trying to settle in Howe, but locations are scarce at the moment and he's seeking retail developers to create space for the beginning demand that is looking at Howe for future commerce
With Howe being centrally located between Sherman and McKinney with a daily traffic count of 36,000 on US 75, the city is primed for future retail growth just as seen recently with Howe Mercantile and Texas Home Emporium
