Lady Bulldogs still on the hunt; Area Champions After spending most of Friday night inside Bowie High School in shelter from a tornado warning, the Howe Lady Bulldogs and Glen Rose Lady Tigers decided to cancel the three game area championship series and opt for the "sudden death" of a onegame series where winner takes all with freshman starting pitcher Torrey Stubblefield toeing the rubber.

Howe, as the visiting team, batted first and accumulated four quick runs thanks to three errors by Glen Rose in the first inning. Kayla Anderson drove home the first run of the game with her 15th RBI of the season on a ground out to third. Jimmy Bearden, 1941-2015

Jimmy Bearden Howe - Jimmy Erskine Bearden passed, peacefully, from this earth on May 5, 2015 at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman, Texas. Jimmy was surrounded by his loving wife, sons, and grandsons along with his Pastor Duane Peters and Rose Peters. Jimmy Bearden was born in Howe, Texas on May 11, 1941.

Jimmy attended Howe Schools where he played several sports and was quarterback of the football team in 1958 when the football program was reinstated at Howe. He was first team all-district and later named to the “All Century Howe Bulldog Team”. Jimmy graduated from Howe High School in 1959.

He then married his high school sweetheart, Merle Jean Reeves, on January 12, 1962. Jimmy worked full time while attending college at East Texas State University where he completed his bachelor’s degree in accounting in December of 1968 and Master of Business Administration in May of 1973.

Later that year Jimmy accepted a job at Magni-Fab Southwest Company in Howe. He later became Vice President of the company and General Manager of the Howe operation until his retirement in 2010. Jimmy was always involved in the local community and lent his support in

many ways. He served on the Howe Volunteer Fire Department and held the rank of Fire Marshal. He served as League Commissioner for Howe Baseball in the late 1970s and early 1980s, coached several baseball teams, and was instrumental in the first fence that was placed at A.M. Ferguson Field. He served as a member of the Howe ISD Board of Trustees from 1979 to 1987 and spent the last six years as President of the Board. Jimmy was a member of the Howe Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the Howe Athletic, Band and Ag Booster clubs where many of his donations and creations from metal are still in use today.

Jimmy was a Life Member of the Texas Association of Business where he served as Chairman.

He was a supporter of several local fire departments. He was named Howe Citizen of the Year in 2001. Jimmy later became a founding member of the Inspiration Point Cowboy Church in Tom Bean, Texas.

Jimmy and Merle were married for 53 wonderful years and had three boys all of whom graduated from Howe High School. Jimmy and Merle have spent the last five years traveling the United States, visiting kids and grandkids.

Jimmy is survived by his wife and soul mate, Merle Bearden, his three sons Brett Bearden of Howe Texas, Philip Bearden and his wife Jennifer of Matthews, North Carolina, Kent Bearden and his wife Rachel of Las Vegas, Nevada. Grandchildren are Blake Bearden, Austin Bearden, Ethan Bearden and Emma Bearden. Sister, Martha Moore and her husband Johnny of Commerce, Texas, brother

They love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues. They liked to be greeted by people in the marketplaces as their great teacher.

The church still has Pharisees pointing out the shortcomings of others and Social Media has made it easier for a Pharisee to gain a following. It’s easy to see the spirit of judgement in others but this is a blind spot in our own lives.

Pharisees attitudes are brought out through difficult situations with difficult people. The reality is that it often hides in high expectations.

The challenge is to recognize the passion as your desire to serve the Lord and avoid the pride of measuring others commitment and passion to yours.

It happens in every area of life.

People of passion and dedication wonder why other people are not as passionate.

Brady says that Howe hasn't been able to meet developers needs because of the lack of infrastructure. He says that Abbington Meadows will now allow for that because of the water that will be brought to that part of the city for the complex.

"Abbington Meadows apartment complex will fill a need in Howe." says Howe City Administrator Joe Shephard. "The company is investing millions of dollars in constructing apartments in the north Texas area. The company has already installed over one-half million dollars in new water and sewer

Rea Ventures Group was formed by William J. Rea, Jr., managing partner. He has completed over 3,460 units of multifamily housing in the tax credit programs in Georgia, Florida, Michigan, and Texas. Mr. Rea has served as developer and owner on all of these projects.

Mr. Rea started his career in 1979 in the real estate industry by developing singlefamily, detached homes. Rea has been an owner, developer and contractor of multifamily developments since 1985. As a result, he has become an acknowledged expert in many areas of the development of multi-family housing.

"Not only has the city been able to now move the necessary water and sewer to the southwest part of town because of this deal, but the property will increase the value of the corner of Hall Cemetery Road at US 75." said Walker.

"Depending on the amount of future traffic at that intersection, it could create some leverage with TxDOT to create a future overpass to link L.B. Kirby Avenue to Hall Cemetery Road."

Howe superintendent weighs Texas Senate Bill 149 The Texas State Senate passed a bill on Tuesday that will give students that failed the state exam a chance to graduate high school.

If and when the governor signs the bill into law, we will establish a graduation committee that will review each student’s academic record individually to determine whether they are eligible for a high school diploma."

Howe Police Department reports

May 1, 2015 – At approximately 11:00pm Howe Police Officers Keith Milks and Jordan Clark arrested a 25-year-old man and 27year-old man (both from Durant, OK) for possessing a quarter of an ounce of cocaine. The arrest was the result of a consent search on the 27-year-old’s vehicle which was stopped on US Hwy 75 for a traffic violation. Neither suspect admitted knowing the drug was in the vehicle. They were booked into the Grayson County Jail for PCS PG 1 > 4g < 200g..

April 30 – At approximately 3:00 am, Howe Police Officer Robert Todd arrested a 24-year-old Milton, Wisconsin man for possessing approx 14 grams of methamphetamine. The arrest was a result of a stop on US Hwy 75 for a traffic violation, and a subsequent search based on a canine alert.

April 29 – At approx 4:00 pm, Sgt. Michael Hill arrested a 52-year-old Howe resident for public intoxication in the 700 block of W. Haning Street. Sgt. Hill saw the man walking in the middle of the roadway and noticed he was unsteady on his feet. Upon speaking with the suspect, Sgt. Hill found him to be intoxicated on some sort of medication. The suspect was booked into the Grayson County jail.
