continued from Page #1 until just after noon when the crowd cleared out for lunch. With the vendors hoping for a return of people after lunch, it never materialized

The event was moved up in to the last weekend of April, which also sees another longstanding festival taking place in Muenster's Germanfest Howe's traditional theme of Founders Day and the lack of adult beverages available will never make Howe's once a year celebration as large as the others that commonly open up a special permit for alcohol sales on events

Vendors stated in 2014 that they wanted it to be longer than just a 9am - noon event and asked that it be extended until 6pm. The Keep Howe Beautiful and Howe Area Chamber of Commerce boards agreed to not only extend the party to 6pm but also hire two bands to play and close out the night with a free concert by Texas Country Music Artist Chris McCandless Unfortunately, there were only about 50 individuals in downtown for the concert.

There were lots of great moments early on in the day such as the lawnmower race that took place between Todd Creekmore owner of Advantage Business Machines and 8-year-old David Carr Creekmore jumped out to a big lead and maintained it throughout the race to win by about 15 yards several door prizes were given away by Keep Howe Beautiful and other vendors Those that stayed for the long-haul and kept their booths open even wthout any traffic were 3G Brand, Cavender Home Theater, Sweetie Pies, Salvage Junky and a couple of others

Sergeant Michael Hill and Damien Carr partnered together to go undefeated and win the horseshoe championship which took place in the volleyball court next to First Baptist Church's youth center.

The board of Keep Howe Beautiful and the Howe Area Chamber of Commerce will be meeting on Wednesday evening to discuss a complete makeover of the event and even renaming it from Founders Day to a more marketable theme, such as "Top of Texas Festival" to capitalize on the uniqueness of Howe's elevation to the rest of the state in this corridor.
