Grand opening for new chamber building

Several county officials were in town despite the threat of bad weather on Friday night. On-hand for the ribbon cutting opening of the office that will house The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce, Keep Howe Beautiful, and Howe Development Alliance was County Judge Bill Magers, District Attorney Joe Brown, County Commissioner Jeff Whitmire and Justice of the Peace Rita Noel Also in attendance were each of the city council members other than Dennis Bozeman, who was out of town Each member was recognized as well as Howe Mayor Jeff Stanley and City Administrator Joe Shephard

Howe Police Chief Carl Hudman is in the process of drawing each individual that was inducted into the inaugural class of the Howe Hall of Honor His amazing work will be displayed in the new HDA/Chamber/KHB office upon completion

This unbelievable portrait of L.B. Kirby is near completion with Hudman working hard to put the finishing touches on the artwork. He also is near completion with A.M. Ferguson and WP Thompson

The ribbon was cut at exactly 7pm on Friday, April 24, 2015 by Howe Development Alliance Director Monte Walker

Immediately following the ribbon cutting was a dedication ceremony After a few words from Chamber President Robert Cannaday, Keep Howe Beautiful Executive Director Laura Duree and Mayor Jeff Stanley, the induction ceremony began with Jabez Haning being honored first

Haning was the owner of the land that donated a portion for the townsite which eventually became known as Howe He was represented by his great great granddaughter Teresa Hanning Pheifer The spelling of the continued on Page #4
