Howe Adopts New City Flag

The New Howe Flag

Howe's That ? It's been a pretty interesting week. I would say the initial response of The Howe Enterprise has been overwhelming. I understand as much as anyone the need for a local rag, er uh, social media news source for our city. We received 217 subscriptions in our first 24 hours. The Enterprise is obviously free to read, but we currently ask you to please like, comment and especially share our information just so we know you're there and for our advertisers to understand you're there. In all honesty, they're the only way this thing stands a chance. I hope you all will help me keep this community project going by simply giving it a thumbs up on Facebook. And I won't lie, it's been a pretty fun week. I will be trying to round up some pillars of our community to create a promotional video for The Howe Enterprise's return to the city. Hopefully this will get done before the next publication.

Howe Teachers Get Cold Hard Cash

Keep Howe Beautiful made their second presentation to the city council last Tuesday night to completely overhaul the look of the city flag. The first attempt was tabled in February until bids could be made to produce the flags. After determining that the flag had to be twosided instead of one, the council agreed to move forward to approve the changing of the flag. The winning bid came from Lone Star Banners and Flags out of Fort Worth. The logo inside the white flag is the same that now exists on all city owned vehicles (other than police) and it is the new logo on the website for the city (www.cityofhowe.org). The logo was designed by the web designer of the city home page with help from Mayor Jeff Stanley. Plans are for the new flag to be dedicated

Due to the strange icy weather that on May 10th at the Founders Day celebration. we've experienced, the school has missed an unusual amount of days so far Howe Police Awards this year. What most people don't realize is that teachers have a threat of not getting paid. At the monthly school board meeting on Thursday evening, the board voted that the teachers should not miss out on their regular income due to inclement weather. "We've missed 6 days of school due to snow and ice this year and we have 2 bad weather days built in to our calendar, and we've applied to TEA to waive the other 4 days so that we don't have to extend our year into the summer," says Howe ISD superintendent Kevin Wilson.
