Personal Goals

As with most people engaged in this class, I have contemplated the question: what do I want to accomplish with my life? This intricate question burdens many people, not just those of us that have chosen to continue our education. I have seen it with my own children as they contemplate which career path will lead them to a comfortable life with financial stability. My most obviousgoal and reason for enrolling in University of Phoenix is like every other student: to complete this program and earn my degree. However, the fruition of my goal ultimately depends on the fulfillment of smaller, more personal ambitions. My first objective was...show more content...

I want to utilize my current skill set and be given the opportunity to stretch the capacity of my mind to continue to read, learn, and comprehend new knowledge as it presents itself. I believe that life is an education program and I continue to encounter new knowledge every day. While I may consider some of the learnt items miniscule, I know that ultimately they influence my life and the decisions I make.

I have been employed in the hospitality industry for almost 20 years. While engaging, it has become somewhat of a complacent, day–to–day routine. My original goal was to find a vehicle to move me into an alternative direction. In some of my past jobs I had always excelled when it came to numbers so accounting positions came naturally for me. The dilemma, however, was that my personality conflicted with the facet of accounting positions that required being stuck behind a desk and pressing out spreadsheets. I found that although I was an individual that uniquely enjoyed accounting I also enjoyed the ability to be in the driver's seat and guide the operations of a business. For that reason, the natural aspiration that soon developed was the goal of operating my own business. Since accomplishing this goal, I now have an established practice that provides financial statement preparation and accounting services to small organizations. While I have the skill set to perform the tasks required by my career

Over the past few weeks, I've been striving to reach a personal goal to help or get better in my social wellness. My goal was to be more talkative and less shy, but more specifically to try to hold (or start a conversation that lasts up to 20–30 minutes long by the time week five roles around. I wanted to reach this goal because I tend to find myself to be a little awkward and uncomfortable when I'm in a large group of people I don't know or talking to someone I don't know or usually talk to, so I wanted to fix that.

As I started out trying to reach my goal it felt impossible becaus I was afraid to talk with people. However each week got a little easier, but somedays if I had a rough morning or was having a hard day I couldn't physically pull...show more content...

On my vision board I put groups of people, people talking, smiling, and laughing. I pust inspirational quote, words, and people, as well as words that I want to look at and think "that's me" or "that's what I want to be" such as "confidencen" or "beautyl". My vision board helped me a little. For instance when I was in class and was nervous to talk to someone or give a presentation, I would look and think "you can overcome and accomplish this." However in other class not being able to have it, I feltt as though just thinking about my board didn't have the ame affect opposed to being able to loook att it in person, but by having it in person it was an extremely helpful and useful tool to visually provide me with drive, motivation an inspiration to active a personal life skills goal. The personal goals that I want to achieve as a student of the University of Phoenix are in the education and career areas of my life. In my education, my major goal is to gain knowledge in computers and network administration, eventually culminating in a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. I also wish to strengthen my grammar and interpersonal skills. In my career, mygoal is to either advance from my current career as a paralegal to that of an office manager or to enter into a different career as information technology department administrator. I will use staff and university services in order to achieve my goals in a reasonable timeframe with limited obstacles.

To achieve these goals I plan on using the University of...show more content...

Once I have received my degree I can use it in conjunction with my Associates degree that I have in Paralegal Studies and would qualify for many legal office manager positions or I could use it to attain a job with the federal government as a paralegal (because the federal government requires any person with a paralegal certificate to also possess a Bachelor's degree). The degree would also allow me to exit the legal field altogether if I wanted to and I would be able to enter Information Technology job market. When developing a time–line for my goals, it is best to divide the goals up into short and long–term goals. Short–term goals to goals that I can reasonably accomplish in the next year and long–term goals will be any goals that will be in excess of a year. Goals that I can reasonably accomplish within the next year are my ability to strengthen and develop my grammar and interpersonal skills. After completing this class, I will be able to take additional courses that will help me grow more confident and develop my writing and speech giving capabilities. Although I don't expect these skills to perfect overnight, I do believe they will be at a higher level in about a year.

My other goals will most likely be long term in length. I feel that I will meet my goal of gaining knowledge in computers and network administration in around a year and a half. Most of the courses that cover these areas are later in the universities

My Personal Goals Essay

As a child and even as a teenager one tends to make dreams and set goals for life. On occasion these goals are far stretched and sometimes even fairy–tale like, we tend to see life through a rose–colored glass, not taking into account the many sidetracks life throws our way. At that stage in life our goals tend to be less focused and somewhat unreachable. However, the process of growing up, or maturing, tends organized and center our goals, we learn to make compromises and set goals for our goals. There are different types of goals, short term and long term. I have learned to separate the many goals I have into three main categories: family, professional and personal.

First, my family goals include how I see myself and how I see my...show more content...

I have planned monthly individual date nights with my children, so that they can have my undivided attention for a certain period of time. The second family short term goal takes into account my marriage. In order to raise happy and healthy children, a happy and healthy relationship with one's spouse is paramount. In order to achieve this goal my husband and I have decided to also dedicate more time for the two of us. For the next year we have made an agreement to take at least one vacation together, so that we may increase the bond that brought us together. We have also decided that for the next three year we will spend Holidays as a family so that we may create our own family traditions, we will do whatever is in our power to spend Holidays together, that includes not working or making other plans with the rest of our immediate families. On many occasions my personal goals have come before my professional aspirations. A career in the medical field has always been something I have looked forward to. As a child I wanted and dreamed of being a doctor, however due to the choices I made in life and the priorities that I had not thought of, I have come to realize that my childhood dream may not come true. Yet, I was able to compromise and make short and long term goals that will lead me into a career in the medical field. My long term goal is to enter the medical field world and be a respected contributor to it. I want to be able to help others in the time of need. In

As most of my peers, I have been asking myself a question, what do I want out of my life? This question bothers many people, and not only the college students who are trying to figure out the path that will lead them to the comfortable life. One might ask, what is that comfort that we all are striving for? Is it a state of mind or is it some unknown world that we are so eager to enter. It varies from person to person; there are several aspects, such the way were raised, making, of our lives that could influence a person and the future decisions that we'll make.

The biggest part of our decision–making is the way we were raised and the culture we have gotten used to. Many Americans believe that the success depends on...show more content...

Sarah always wore designer clothes, and was looked up to by all the lower classman. She used to brag about her parents knowing everyone in town, and how she could land a job or go to any college she wanted to without even trying. On the other hand, I grew up in a one–parent household that never had a lot of money. My mom had to keep three jobs in order to provide the necessities for us. My mom emigrated from Hungary with limited resources. She could speak no English and barley had any money. She was willing to do what ever it took to give us a decent life style. We did not go out to restaurants often and she would always try to save money by limiting extra expenses. Within a short period of time we were considered middle class average family. I was taught early on the value hard work. The values that were installed in me were very different then Sarah. I was always taught that hard work and dedication would pay off. Sarah was thought that she never had to do anything to receive the good things out of life. We have kept in touch over the years, and the part of me that used to be jealous was now thankful for not having everything handed to me. I have worked hard to get the job I have wanted, have a place of my own, a nice car, and extra money. Sarah still has to rely on her family to help with the bills, and can't hold a job down. As of right now, I don't have the proper knowledge that's needed to take care of a tiny human body, but hopefully I can attain these skills by furthering my knowledge in school. I also need to work on being more resilient. I realize that Neonatal nursing is something that can be hard on a person. More times than not, things don't go the way they are planned and I need to be able to handle that e stress appropriately. I'm not sure how long it will take before I can become a Neonatal nurse but there is a sense of urgency to accomplish this goal. Above all, my personal goals are to learn as much as I can and make my family and myself proud of what I've accomplished. I've realized that college is a great opportunity to further my education and I want to take advantage of that by taking in as much knowledge as possible. Personal Goals I want to Achieve as a University of Phoenix Student

With a degree from the University of Phoenix, I will rule the world! The worlds that I will rule are my own internal and external ones. These worlds consist of paper, development of personal skills, satisfaction and achievement, titles, and specialized knowledge. My goals are personal, family–oriented, business–related, or just plain selfish. The receipt of a diploma is something that I perceive as slightly superficial. Obtaining this piece of paper, which will hang on my office wall, is an external, visual symbol that represents a base of knowledge to others regardless of whether or not that base of knowledge is applicable or implemented. In addition, the receipt of...show more content...

I will achieve personal satisfaction by simply knowing that I have completed what I started many, many years ago. I am not, nor have ever been a quitter and will always (regardless of time) finish what I start. I will fulfill a sense of achievement because I will have crossed the finish line. The process, like a race, is not easy but enduring the pain is worth the end result. Another personal goal tied into achievement would be that my daughter would see that I pursued my commitment to the very end. She will be able to learn by example not empty words. The advancement of my career is a continuous personal goal. Without the benefit of a complete formal education, I have moved up the corporate ladder swiftly and adeptly; having started as an Administrative Assistant and now retain the title of Program Manager and responsible for over 1M in contracts and a team of 15. Within the company's organization, there are the Owners and Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents (VPs), then Program Managers. There are currently no written rules or guidelines as to what an individual has to have or do to move up in the organization but I know that obtaining my degree in business management will put me at an even level with the existing VPs allowing me to be promoted without consternation.

My ultimate personal goal, after receiving my bachelor's degree, is to pursue a Master's Degree in Tourism

From professional athletes that we see on television, to the educators that have taught me and many others through the years, they all have committed themselves to extensive study. They have practiced countless of hours to master their individual skill set for their profession. I see myself following in the same footsteps, but as a pediatrician. With each visit I hope that we can work together for a brighter and healthier tomorrow.

Naturally, my eagerness to learn came about at a very young age. I always wanted to know how the human body worked. Growing up in the age of YouTube, I often poured over countless hours of videoslearning simple concepts that I could easily understand at that time. As I grew I was always looking to learn something new. Finally, in high school I took advantage of College Now, a program where students in high school had access to college classes on a college campus while receiving college credits. While I was there, I earned a Certificate in Computer Science from CUNY Queens College. This eagerness to learn came about of a very simple reason. My parents had high aspirations for me since no one on either side of their families had ever gone beyond a high school education. They wanted me to be the first in the family to achieve a Bachelor's degree. Finally in 2012, I graduated from St. Johns University with a

My Professional Goals

Goal 1: My current self–conflict with my dream to work in industrial design, and the reality of graduating with degrees in psychology and human biology, is a significant cognitive strain for me. Finding a clear vision of what I can do with my degree to work in the realm of industrial design would be a big resolution of my tension, relieving any regrets and doubts about what I had chosen to study for the last five years. My future would look clearer and I would know what steps I need to take in order to reach the goal, which in turn make my next months more efficient and valuable. For my dad, salvaging our relationship would mean success of his role as a father, and proving right of his decision to work in a different country for his children. Also, being considered as a son who understands and supports his father the most is what I regard ideal and important. Goal 3: Procrastinating and wasting time is one of the biggest flaws of my personality. By achieving this goal I hope to put important plans into action. This would help me steer closer to working in a career that I want, and find next goals to accomplish. More importantly, being more efficient and achieving my goals would reduce my daily stress of having unfinished work, resulting in better mental health, and higher self–esteem. I also hope that this new personality would help me stay organized in all fronts of my life, from organizing daily plans to keeping my room tidy. Achieving this goal will ultimately make attaining my other goals more likely, and thus making others perceive me as more reliable and steadfast. Goal 4: Growing a habit of reading books would make me more knowledgeable of world issues, literature, history, and learn from experiences of extraordinary minds. A person who is intimately familiar with all the wisdom contained in books is someone I long to be. I hope to use this knowledge and the habit of reading as a model for my children. I think being a father who can read in his spare time and can suggest great books for his children to read is a great role model

I understand that in order to achieve my goal, I will have to make many sacrifices such as continuing to balance a full time job with family responsibilities and numerous difficult classes. I will work hard and plan to put a lot of effort into my classes to assure success in each of them. The greatest challenge that I will encounter is giving my family the time they deserve. Dedicating my weekends to doing school work and not getting distracted with family and friends is extremely difficult. I come from a large family and there is always something going on; Birthday parties and other social activities. My mother doesn't like going anywhere by herself and depends on me to take her shopping to the Mall. I have asked my other sisters to invite her to go shopping until I finish school. My sisters have agreed to keep Mom in mind and take her to the Mall. My daughter just had baby and it's tough to stay away and not help her out. My daughter understands but at times I can't help feeling guilty that I can't help her as much as I would like to. Another obstacle that will interfere with my goal is the required travels for my job. This will make it difficult for me to meet with the team and attend class on some occasions. Personal Goal Setting

Goal setting is one of the cornerstones of self–improvement and achieving success. In fact, it's pretty much impossible to reach your maximum potential without setting goals and putting them down in writing. Every successful business in America knows this to be true. Every publicly traded corporation issues regular reports to their shareholders, and they always include specific, tangible goals for the next reporting period. Every department head at that business will also have goals for the coming quarter and year. But many individuals who try goal setting fail. Why is that? Because they do not understand how to write a personal goal statement.

What is a personal goal statement, and how does it differ from the way most people set goals? Well, let's...show more content...

A goal has to be written down, and it has to be personalized and specific. To write down "I want to lose weight" won't cut it. Something like that won't inspire anyone, and it certainly won't focus your subconscious on moving toward a specific target. No, it has to be a personal goal statement. Something like "I love being at my ideal weight of 125 pounds." Or "I love my new job as vice president of marketing." Those are personal and specific. That's what you should be shooting for when you create your personal goal statement.

Among the list career goal examples:

When developing your career goal setting plan there are a many things to consider when it comes to finding your first job or assessing whether you current job is right for you. One of the many career goal examples would be to make a list of some important questions to ask yourself about a particular job. They include:

– Does a job in the field you are considering require you to move? Could a job in this field take you somewhere you have always wanted to move to?

– Are there many people with similar qualifications as me trying to get into this career field? Will have to continually obtain new certificates /training to stay current in the
