BLACK HISTORY MONTH - “THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2024 - FRIDAY, MARCH 1, 2024.”

“OUR COUNTY CLERK IS THE BEST.”

GROUND ZERO: James Johnson, better known as “BIG JIM” and Aubrey R. Taylor, publisher of Houston Business Connections Newspaper at a press conference hosted at NRG Stadium by Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth.

I

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

I must admit, Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth was worth her weight in gold back during the 2023, City of Houston Mayoral Election. I mean, Hudspeth took the hand she was dealt and performed masterfully during the general election (Tuesday, November 7, 2023), and during the runoff election (Saturday, December 9, 2023), under a tremendous amount of pressure, and unprecedented scrutiny by the state of Texas. Words can’t express how proud I am of the magnificent job Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth did in getting the numbers right, and in on time during both elections. Hudspeth is the real deal, and her experience, honesty, leadership and intestinal fortitude is something that’s very-much need right now in Harris County. All of that being said, I am asking all of my readers to keep Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth in your thoughts and prayers as God’s plan for her and our beloved Harris County, continues to unfold.

Don’t forget that “EARLY VOTING” for the upcoming Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Democratic Party Primary and Republican Party Primary will begin on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, and end on March 1, 2024.

“CAN AMANDA ALSO BEAT SHEILA JACKSON LEE?”

F

GROUND ZERO: State Senator John Whitmire was able to defeat Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee in all phases of the game by building a diverse coalition of Houstonians from all walks of life and political affiliations back on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

“AMANDA COULD DEFEAT SHEILA BY 20% PERCENTAGE POINTS OR MORE WITH THE RIGHT STRATEGY.” AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

Former City of Houston Councilwoman Amanda Edwards can overwhelmingly defeat Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee if she takes the following five steps to hold Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, and her dirty campaign manager (Gerald Womack) in check. STEP ONE: Amanda Edwards must closely monitor the “ABSENTEE MAIL BALLOT” daily flow as they’re being reported by Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth between Tuesday, February 20, 2024, and Friday, March 1, 2024. STEP TWO: Amanda Edwards must place her own “POLL WATCHERS” inside of every predominantly Black “EARLY VOTING LOCATION” from the time they open, until the time they close.

STEP THREE: Amanda Edwards must place members of her “CAMPAIGN TEAM” outside of every “EARLY VOTING LOCATION” inside the 18th Congressional District to count the number of voters going in and out from the time the polls open until the time the polls close. STEP FOUR: Amanda Edwards must compare the “NIGHTLY RETURNS” provided by Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth to the number of in-person voters counted by her team members during every day of the early voting period. STEP FIVE: Amanda Edwards must be willing and prepared to report any “REALTIME IRREGULARITIES” of more than 200 in-person voters to Texas Secretary of State (Jane Nelson), if they occur.

“Since becoming the presiding judge for the 80th Civil District Court in Harris County, Texas, Judge Jeralynn Manor, has done an exemplary job serving the people as a minister of justice. She deserves a second term and should be reelected to this bench in the upcoming 2024 Presidential election.” — AUBREY R. TAYLOR, publisher/investigative reporter.

PUTTING MY EXPERIENCE TO WORK Jeralynn Manor was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her mother was a nurse, and her father a career officer with the New Orleans Police Department. There he set the bar high for his daughter. Manor’s hard work and high goal standards are certainly founded in her bloodline. Manor’s “service to all mankind” mantra and dedication to her craft is evidenced in her career achievements. Manor studied philosophy at Xavier University in New Orleans before finishing her undergraduate studies in Administration of Justice at Texas Southern University. She went on to Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she earned the American Juris Prudence Award in Bankruptcy under the tutelage of the Honorable Justice Manual Leal of the Southern District of Texas Bankruptcy Court and won 1st place in the Mock Trial competition. In 2001 Manor earned her Juris Doctorate and became a licensed attorney by the Texas Supreme Court. In her 17-plus years of practicing law, Attorney Manor has worked in several areas. She concentrated her early career as a fee attorney for 3 major title companies. Throughout her fee attorney and escrow practice, Manor closed and played an integral role in helping thousands of Texas to achieve home ownership. K

A PASSION FOR LOCAL POLITICS Kevin’s passion for being involved in the local politics started in 1992. Kevin was appointed to the City of Pearland Planning & Zoning Commission in 1994. Kevin then ran for City Council in 1995 and was successful. He served a single term to 1998. Kevin will tell you his biggest accomplishment while on Council was being a part of a Council that secured long-term water rights for the City. Kevin made the decision to run for City Council again in 2004 and was elected. He served 2 terms ending in May 2010. Kevin had several major accomplishments during this time. Cowart’s Creek diversion project was an item he ran on and was able to make it a part of the 2007 bond program. Today, it is complete and will help a large area of the City’s drainage. The Lower Kirby area has developed because the Council made the decision to focus on a market-based approach to the area. Kevin was able to utilize the skills as a real estate developer and help lead the Council to perform a market analysis followed by a market-based land plan. This led to rezoning the area based on the market and the Lower Kirby area finally took off. The City had become the de facto developer in that area by putting in the infrastructure, but the zoning really was difficult to deal with. So the City needed to act like a developer in performing this. The City was successful in the 2007 bond program election. This was the largest program in the City’s history and covered roads, drainage, fire stations, parks, and the natatorium/rec center. When the real estate economy collapsed in Sept 2008, parts of the bond program were able to be implemented quicker. Several roads were moved up to take advantage of better pricing. He was elected Mayor of Pearland on November 3, 2020.

Black Support for the GOP is Growing in Texas

A

Early Support for the GOP

African Americans were one group of Texans that would consistently support the Republican Party in Texas in their early years. In fact, throughout Reconstruction, African Americans comprised about 90% of GOP membership, and 44 African Americans served in the Texas legislature as Republicans according to: www.texasgop.org

It was through the hard work of a number of dedicated African American men and women that the earliest foundations of the Republican Party of Texas were laid. The first-ever state Republican convention that met in Houston on July 4, 1867 was predominantly African American in composition, with about 150 African American Texans attending, and 20 Anglos.

Pastor Willie Davis HCRP - Chaplain Councilman - At-Large Position #2

The second State GOP Chairman, Norris Wright Cuney, an African-American from Galveston who led the Republican Party from 1883 to 1897, is said by State historians to have held “the most important political position given to a black man of the South in the nineteenth century.”

Our History

Way Engineering's quest for building excellence began in 1918 when a modest but dedicated refrigeration business opened its doors in Houston. Way Engineering, Ltd is one of the nation’s largest and most experienced mechanical contractors. We specialize in commercial air conditioning, plumbing, piping, and the maintenance of these systems. Way Engineering is at the forefront of design build/design assist, preconstruction, commissioning, building information modeling, and quality control. Throughout the years, Way has excelled by pioneering new mechanical system technologies and always striving to be at the forefront of technological innovation. As early as 1930, Way pioneered the use of ice as a cooling agent in early thermal storage air conditioning systems installed in churches and movie theaters, a technology used extensively today. Innovation and education remain two of the cornerstones of the Way “building excellence” philosophy. McCorvey Companies purchased Way Engineering, LTD. on December 3, 2012. It was an exciting venture for everyone involved. The company relocated to 8610 Wallisville Rd, Houston, TX. With new offices, more warehouse space, and new state of the art machinery, Way Engineering is stronger than ever. The Way commitment to building excellence began in 1918 and McCorvey Companies will continue that excellence into the future.
