ISSUES

Public School Funding

Randy Bates knows, first hand, the value of a high quality public education. He believes we must invest in our most precious resource, our young people. All students deserve a quality public education. From birth and beyond, our young people are our future. Randy will fight for increased public school funding for the benefit of our children and our educators.

Criminal Justice Reform

The current state of our justice system needs a major overhaul. With prison overcrowding and too many young people sitting in solitary confinement, we must take a stand and combat the real issues facing our criminal justice system. Randy is committed to working to restore confidence in our justice

system and encourage safer communities with deliberate steps to prevent gun violence.

Economic Development

We must develop family sustaining jobs in the District. Randy's vision is to establish enterprise districts and reinvestment zones to help areas with struggling economies. Randy will also work to level the playing field for minority- and women-owned businesses so they have the resources needed for growth and job creation.

Lower Property Taxes Randy will fight against rising property taxes that threaten home ownership.

DEAR PRECINCT 7 REGISTERED VOTERS:

I am seeking this position because first I believe that I am qualified. Second, I believe that it is time for new leadership. I want to Bring Back the People’s Court. That means opening up the courthouse doors to the community in which it serves. It also means providing services, such as educational training, social services, and resources to Pro Se litigants who cannot afford legal representation. My goal is to partner with organizations in our community to provide additional services to those in need. Below are five ways, in which I plan to accomplish this goal: • Enhance courthouse technology by creating a ”Courthouse App” • Hold monthly night court and/or weekend court • Establish an onsite resource center for Pro Se Litigants • Open up the courthouse doors and allow organizations and professionals to host educational seminars • Work with the Constable’s office to promote safety in the community
