lege while continuing his service to the community by devoting his time on the Board of Directors for a youth counseling organization, helping victims of domestic violence, and training at risk students in conflict resolution. Kevin also used his legal skills as an extern for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and Community Legal Aid. This focus and dedication earned him a Juris Doctor Degree with a notation for Distinguished Public Service. After graduating from law school in 2001, Kevin became a legal consultant for a major development agency that specialized in multifamily housing and homeownership. Kevin then worked as In-House Counsel for a large property management company and handled employment law issues, landlord/tenant law, and business litigation and formation issues. As an attorney, Kevin believes that all people, regardless of income level, should be afforded competent legal representation. To help those that cannot afford representation, Kevin has incorporated the frequent use of his legal skills to go into the community to provide pro bono legal services. Kevin also takes the time to visit subsidized housing communities to encourage disadvantaged youth to enter the legal profession and to return the knowledge they gain back to their community. Kevin Fulton is a member of the Houston Bar Association; Houston Northwest Bar Association; Veterans of Foreign Wars; American Legion; The Federalist Society; Harris County Republican Party; Cherry Tree Republicans ; and the College of the State Bar of Texas (“an honorary society of lawyers who are among the best trained attorneys in Texas”- College of the State Bar of Texas website). For more information on Kevin Fulton’s campaign, please see page (10) of this issue. And don’t forget to support candidates who support you.
KEVIN FULTON Kevin Fulton is a shining example of the American Dream. Born in the gritty, gang infested streets of South Central Los Angeles, Kevin never had the opportunity to meet his biological father who abandoned the household when he was only a few months old. His mother Pearl immediately took control of the household and worked her way out of poverty. Kevin watched as his mother worked long hours to provide her kids with the opportunity to escape their surroundings. Pearl never blamed her race or society for her position in life, instead she taught him the importance of prayer, self-accountability and hard work to conquer poverty. This was Kevin’s first introduction to the conservative values that would shape the rest of his life. Eventually Pearl married a State Trooper who taught Kevin the importance of following the law and to appreciate the sacrifice that our law enforcement officers make on a daily basis.
ATTORNEY KEVIN FULTON IS WITH VALUES AND IS COMMITTED TO SERVING THE COMMUNITY
Kevin took those values and lessons and demonstrated a strong sense of community service as a child. Immediately upon graduating from high school, Kevin joined the Army and served this great nation with distinction as a reconnaissance soldier and received various honors for service during combat. This service included guarding the borders of Europe, functioning as a liberator in the Persian Gulf War and acting as a humanitarian in Operation Provide Comfort for Kurdish Refugees in Turkey and Iraq. After being Honorably Discharged from the Army, Kevin immediately enrolled in col-

SIMPSON SEEKING TO UNSEAT CHAIRMAN JARED WOODFILL ON TUESDAY, MAY 29, 2012
Jared Woodfill, a life-long resident of Harris County, knows that dedication and commitment equal achievement. Jared learned the meaning of hard work at a very young age. His mother, an instructor at San Jacinto College, taught him the importance of a solid education, and his father, an employee of NASA who helped bring the Apollo 13 crew home, instilled in him the desire to serve his community. Faith and family have always been important to Jared. He and his
wife, the former Celeste Ponce, have been married for almost thirteen years. Jared and Celeste attend Lakewood Church. A graduate of Clear Lake High School, the University of Texas at Austin, and a cum laude graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law, Jared practices law in partnership with the distinguished Republican and former jurist Paul Pressler. Together they have defended conservative principles through their law practice. The Woodfill & Pressler law firm has offices in Houston and WOODFILL Warsaw, Poland. Jared was first elected Chairman of the Harris County Republican Party in 2002 and subsequently re-elected in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010. He is currently running for his sixth term. During his tenure, Republicans in Harris County have witnessed four Republican county-wide sweeps and the last cycle produced the best results in HCRP’s 61 year history. Prior to being elected Chairman, Jared served as Chairman of the HCRP Finance Committee, and Judicial Screening Committee. He has also served as Legal Counsel to the Harris County Republican Party. Jared also served as vicechairman for Senate District 17’s District Convention and has been a delegate to numerous national, state and senatorial conventions. Additionally, Jared served as Secretary for the Texas Republican County Chairman’s Association. Jared has received numerous awards related to his conservative beliefs, including the Texas Right to Life Horizon Award, Vision America Hero of the Faith Award, Justice Foundation Defender of Life Award, JR Harris Best Supporting Role Award, and the Texas Tea Party Republican Women Appreciation Award. Jared has articulated his conservative principles in numerous periodicals and television shows, including: Houston Chronicle, New York Times, Fox News, Dallas Morning News, Austin American-Statesman, KSEV Radio, KTRH Radio, Los Angeles Times, Local stations channel 2, 8, 11, 13, 26 and 39. He has also appeared on the O’Reilly Factor.
A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT CANDIDATE SIMPSON
Paul Simpson is challenging GOP Chair Jared Woodfill in the 2012 Republican primary. A lifelong pro-life conservative, Simpson has been a Republican political leader since high school. Joining the Louisiana Teen-Age Republicans at age thirteen, he was elected state chair by the time he was sixteen. After being named National Outstanding Teen-Age Republican, Paul attended Rice University where he chaired the Young Republicans. Before graduating from Rice SIMPSON with degrees in history and engineering, Paul’s summer jobs (besides construction and offshore oil field work) included working for a national conservative organization in recruiting and mobilizing young people for conservative Republican political campaigns across the country. While working full-time in the oil and gas business as an engineer, project manager, then supervisor, Paul put himself through law school, graduating with honors from the University of Houston law school. A licensed engineer and patent lawyer, Paul’s law practice primarily involves oil and gas disputes and transactions. He has been a partner with the law firm of McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore since 2001. Paul has been an adult Scout leader since the 1990s and Chair of Boy Scout Troop 505 since 2006.
