2019 Houston City Council Endorsements By Carroll G. Robinson
Regardless of who is elected Mayor and City Controller, Houston will need a strong, smart, courageous and independent City Council; Individuals with a heart for the people of our City and collectively, the discipline to focus on objectives and prioritize them. We need people who understand that the City is governed by the Council and not by anyone individual. Any Mayor is only as strong as a majority of City Council allows them to be. I believe the people below will not disavow their responsibility for being accountable to the public by falling back on the old line that we have a strong Mayoral form of government. The reality is that collectively, City Council is as strong, if not stronger, than any Mayor and under the City Charter, the City Controller is even more powerful than a Mayor. For those reasons, I am personally endorsing the following candidates for election to City Council in this year's city election.
