Missoula Children’s Theatre Presents Peter and Wendy January 14, 2017, 2:00 PM CAM-PLEX Heritage Center Theater When Captain Hook sends his righthand man, Smee, on a quest to capture Peter Pan, it’s seemingly business as usual…at first. Little does Hook realize what fantastic adventures await him and his pirate posse in their search for the elusive Peter Pan. Mistaken identities, ever morphing clouds, a classy crocodile, some very lost boys, and a fickle shadow all add to the mayhem. Mr. & Mrs. Darling embark on a quest of their own and find themselves trekking everywhere from Hawaii to the North Pole in search of their three missing children. With help from the earth-friendly Neverlanders, exotic Neverland creatures, and faithful Tinker Bell, the Darling children are found, disputes are ultimately resolved, and everyone– including Captain Hook–finds a place where they truly belong. Meaningful, Doable Ways To Support Veterans, Members Of The Military And Their Families (BPT) - At the airport, you take a moment to thank a solider in uniform who is returning home. On Veterans Day, you hold up a sign at your town’s parade to let those who have served know how much you care. Throughout the year, whenever you encounter veterans or someone currently serving in the armed forces, you show your appreciation for their service. Most Americans truly feel grateful to U.S. service personnel and take steps to express that gratitude. But what do you do for the families of veterans and active-duty, guard and reserve personnel? In many ways, these families sacrifice as much as their loved ones in service to the country. It’s just as important to support military and veteran families; they are the reason their loved ones fight and their inspiration for returning home safely. Many military families cope with the emotional and physical injuries their loved ones in the service come home with. A stable, loving family can help a veteran make the difficult transition from active duty to civilian life, or help an active-duty person return home after deployment. These families face significant hardships in support of their loved ones in military service. Forty-three percent of military families have moved three or more times in the past 10 years, according to a survey of military families, conducted by Vet Tix. These frequent moves cause difficulties for children adjusting to new schools, spouses finding jobs, and making new friends. Everyone can make a difference for veterans, members of the military and their families. Here are ideas for meaningful ways to show your support: Help them make memories Veterans’ and military families often face financial challenges that can make it difficult to afford simple luxuries other Americans take for granted, such as attending a concert, show or sporting event. The ticket price for a game can easily exceed $200 for a family of four. In fact, the Vet Tix survey found cost was the main reason military and veteran families were unable to participate in entertainment opportunities. You can help a military or veteran family make special memories and attend the show or event of their dreams by donating tickets or funds to Vet Tix. The organization provides tickets for sport-

ing events, concerts, performing arts and family activities to verified members of all branches of currently serving military and veterans. The impact of the donation often goes far beyond a single day of fun. For example, a Vietnam veteran living in Florida used tickets from Vet Tix to help rebuild ties with his wife and children. After he successfully reconnected with his family and community, the man’s doctor wrote a letter to the organization thanking them for helping lower the veteran’s PTSD-related anxiety. “Many veterans face financial challenges while making the transition from military to civilian life,” says Joel DeLand, a U.S. Army veteran from Chicago. “Long-lasting psychological effects from military service can cause veterans to isolate themselves from others when they return home. I’ve personally used Vet-Tix-provided tickets to reconnect with friends by attending local events together.” Visit www.vettix.org to learn more and to make a donation. Help care for their best friends When military service people deploy overseas, some will have to leave behind a beloved pet. Not everyone will have a family member or friend who is able and willing to take in the service person’s pet for an extended period of time. You can help by donating to an organi-

zation that fosters pets for active-duty military, such as Dogs on Deployment or Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet. You can also volunteer to foster a pet. These national organizations work to match members of the military who need foster care for their pets with families around the country willing to care for them. If you live near a military base, you can also contact the base’s command to see if they have a local program in place. Help care for the whole family Every member of a military or veteran family can benefit from support. You can help discharged veterans and military spouses by volunteering to be a career mentor. Contact the Armed Services YMCA to see if you can volunteer as a teacher’s aide for preschools and after-school programs that serve military families in your area. Reach out to your local veterans or military support organizations and ask about adopting a military family. “Adoption” can be as simple as writing personal emails or letters of support, or offering financial help for specific needs, such as buying school clothes and supplies for children, or gifts during the holidays. For a super-easy way to help, simply log on to Operation Homefront’s Amazon page where you can purchase and donate a backpack for a child in a military family.

Fun By The Numbers

Like puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test!

Here’s How It Works:

Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

Donald Trump Won, And The Mainstream Media Are Literally Losing Their Minds With the election of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States, the leftist powersthat-be have been shaken. Everyone now understands that the mainstream media (MSM) is deliberately twisting the truth and forcefeeding a false narrative down our throats. Virtually all MSM outlets declared Trump had no chance of winning. They pointed to trumped-up (no pun intended) polls which said the new president-elect had no chance of winning. From George Clooney to The View, to CNN, NBC, FOX, MSNBC, and just about every news outlet in between, the going narrative was: “Trump can’t win, he’s a joke, he won’t make it.” Yet Trump won in a landslide victory. His landslide was so big, many leftist commentators were speechless. Jill Stein, a third-party candidate during the presidential race, was quickly sliding into irrelevance and decided to halt her declination by crowdfunding a recount of the votes in several hotly contested states. The Wisconsin recount returned Trump an additional 131 votes over his earlier win. In Michigan, a federal judge sealed Trump’s win by halting the recount process after it developed that the entire endeavor

was baseless. Pennsylvania certified Trump’s win, which bested Clinton by some 44,000 votes. Officially, Trump beat Clinton in Florida by over 112,000 votes. In Nevada, Clinton won by 27,202 votes; though Stein didn’t demand a recount in that state, it was some candidate named Roque De La Fuente who got a fraction of 1% of the total vote. Do you remember him? Or her? I don’t, and can’t be bothered to look up this individual’s gender, because they’re defunct. But the plot thickens: apparently, some three million illegal aliens also voted against Trump in the election, meaning Clinton’s “populist” win is a bit of a scam. Is this true? It’s hard to tell; most MSM outlets call this claim bogus; but then these are the same people who called Trump’s chances of winning the election bogus, too. There are additional claims that some four million “deceased” individuals

voted for Clinton during the election. This is a popular scam from the left: radicals go to multiple voting precincts and sign the names of dead relatives on ballots. Is this true, too? Well, you can’t look to the MSM for clarification, and if you don’t believe alternative news sources, you’re left to form your opinion out of the nebulous territories of your own mind. Should it be revealed that deceased individuals had votes cast in the election, and that illegals did as well, then it means some 7,000,000 votes cast for Clinton were fraudulent. When you subtract this figure from Clinton’s 65,746,544 votes, it turns out that Clinton’s tally is closer to 58,846,544, meaning Trump’s 62,904,682 votes actually represents a win of greater than 3,000,000 votes, popularly. Jill Stein’s failed recount has prompted additional tactics, because it is increasingly developing that Trump’s landslide victory was even bigger than previously expected. Now everybody’s shouting that the Russians are to blame. Yes, those dastardly Russians with their endless resources. Those rich, rich, rich, Russians. Those militarily mighty Russians. Those economically, technologically advanced, futuristic Russians. Those Russians

2017

who haven’t had any difficulties since the USSR collapsed and the mafia took over. Those Russians who are a fully industrialized nation nationwide, and have never been responsible for propaganda. Those straightforward, honest Russians who don’t have dirt roads in the countryside and dozens of “closed” cities. Those Russians who’ve never experienced a nuclear meltdown that basically turned an entire city into a horror picture. Yes, those Russians are responsible for hacking the US elections. And apparently facilitating the British exit from the EU (Brexit) as well. Do you hear the sarcasm in your brain as you read those words? You should. Russia is dead broke and barely treading water. They’ve got less than a third of the military might of the United States. Even if they combined with the Chinese, their navy is still only half what America’s is. Russians don’t have the resources, technology, or freedom to hack the United States. Additionally, Michigan used paper ballots—how exactly did the Russians “hack” the voting in Michigan? Answer: they did not; this is one of the reasons a federal judge halted the recount—it is complete nonsense. There’s no way the Russians hacked America’s voting precincts in favor of Donald Trump, for the same reason Stephen Hawking can’t play basketball: it’s just not possible. Sure, Mr. Hawking may want to play basketball, and it is very tragic that he cannot. But there’s just no way he’s going to dunk from that chair. Russia is kind of like the national equivalent of Stephen Hawking. It’s an incredibly brilliant nation whose greatest redeeming quality is its intellect; but it is a nation that has been crippled by the disease of socialism so penultimately it may as well be quadriplegic.

HouseHunterWY.com

Yet despite all this, On December 9th, 2016, the New York Times, once a trusted vanguard of news and information, now a propaganda outlet of the global elite, published an article by leftist shills David E. Sanger and Scott Shane which said: “American intelligence agencies have concluded with ‘high confidence’ that Russia acted covertly in the latter stages of the presidential campaign to harm Hillary Clinton’s chances and promote Donald J. Trump, according to senior administration officials.” Margaret Hill of InfoWars.com, a site previously touted as conspiratorial but contemporarily one of the only sensible news outlets in the country, rebutted, on December 14th, 2016: “These absurd lies—you would think this is some kind of fairy tale we’re living in, where they’re making this up as they go along; showing visible anger for what they think is the truth and then printing it so that it’s...industriously circulated; and the unsuspecting person just looking at it actually believes it. There is no question that this is a fake, ridiculous, baseless claim that is bordering on comedic at this point; and yet they’re spouting it as truth. This article goes on and on and on talking about how they [Russians] did it, and that they also hacked the Republican National Committee as well, but they didn’t release

Page 19

those findings; they just released the findings of the DNC, which is just absurd on every level.” It’s easy to see there’s a massive double-standard based not in facts, but in rhetoric, opinion, and a forced narrative. This narrative is being seeded throughout the world from the top-down. It’s coming from MSM outlets who seem confined to a singular perspective which vilifies those who supported Trump as somehow racist, and that in an unconscious way. It posits that fairly-conducted elections which go against their established narrative only do as much because the Russians hacked them. The Russians, who have been dead broke since the USSR collapsed in 1990. Anybody who believes Russia has the infrastructure or the wherewithal to hack into American systems is guilty of greater conspiratorial thinking than the entire flat-earth movement. If you believe Russia hacked America’s election to get Donald Trump elected, I’ve got a UFO I’d like to sell you; and it’s super cheap—I’ll give it to you for just $15k. But there’s an even greater point to consider here: the MSM contends that Russians hacked into e-mails and exposed their lies and propaganda—but the MSM doesn’t apologize for obvious lies and propaganda they’ve pushed on the American people. So giving them the benefit of the doubt, and assuming that Russians did hack into emails with an effort to undermine Clinton’s candidacy, what you have is a situation where all they did was expose the truth: that the Clinton campaign is full of “spirit-cooking” occultists bent on a global agenda that is undeniably anti-American. Either way you slice it, it doesn’t look good for leftists or the MSM.

Try Baked Wings For The Big Game

Sporting events provide great opportunities to gather with friends and family and enjoy some time together while watching a favorite sport or big game. Such gatherings are not complete without food, and some foods are widely considered staples of gameday gettogethers. Chicken wings are among the most popular gameday foods. While many chicken wing afficionados might insist on frying wings, this beloved dish can be baked. In fact, Chef Kevin Gillespie, author of “Fire In My Belly” (Andrews McMeel), felt like he could create a baked chicken wing dish that even the most ardent wing connoisseur could not resist. The result is the following recipe for “Baked Hot Wings,” which home cooks can whip up in time for this year’s big game. Baked Hot Wings Makes 2 full servings

24 chicken wings, a mix of drums and flats, about 2 pounds 1 tablespoon grapeseed oil 1⁄3 cup sriracha chile sauce 1⁄4 cup malt vinegar 1⁄4 cup soy sauce 2 tablespoons sugar 2 cloves garlic, very thinly sliced 1⁄4 cup scallions, thinly sliced on the diagonal

1. Preheat the oven to 500 F. 2. Pat the wings very dry with a paper towel. Heat a large (14-inch) cast iron skillet or two smaller cast iron skillets over high heat until smoking hot. Add just enough of the oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Using tongs, set the wings in the pan in a single layer with the meatiest side down. This will help render the fat. Cook the wings for 2 minutes, then transfer the skillet to the oven for 5 minutes. Carefully remove the skillet from the oven and, using tongs, flip the wings over. Continue baking until the wings are cooked through and the juices run clear, another 10 minutes. 3. Combine the sriracha, vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, and garlic in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat, then cut the heat down to medium-low and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour the sauce into a large bowl and toss in 1 tablespoon of the scallions. 4. Carefully remove the skillet from the oven and, using tongs, transfer the wings to the bowl and toss with the sauce. Transfer to a platter and garnish with the remaining 3 tablespoons scallions.

9 Things You Might Not Know About Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

during his first year at seminary. He received a “C” in the class but earned straight “As” by his final year. 6. Dr. King was a “Star Trek” fan. He convinced actress Nichelle Nichols, who played the role of “Uhura” on the show, to continue working with the series. Nichols was considering leaving, but Dr. King told her she was breaking boundaries by playing a character who didn’t conform to black stereotypes. 7. Dr. King narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on September 20, 1958. On that day, Dr. King was in Harlem signing copies of his new book, “Stride Toward Freedom,” when he was approached by a woman who stabbed him with a letter opener. He

barely survived. 8. Dr. King’s speech in Memphis in April 1968 may have prophesied his death. Speaking to an audience at Mason Temple Church, King said, “Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now … I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land.” 9. Dr. King’s birthday is now observed as a national holiday in the United States. President Ronald Reagan signed the bill in 1983. The only other American to earn this honor is George Washington. Well respected, honored and appreciated for his civil rights activism, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. rightfully earned his place as one of the most influential figures in American and world history. Through his religious teachings and social activism, Dr. King played a key role in the American Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. While Dr. King lived a good portion of his life in the public eye, many facts of his life are not widely known. In honor of his birthday and Black History Month, the following are some interesting and less publicized facts about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 1. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birth name was not “Martin,” but “Michael.” Dr. King’s father traveled to Germany and became inspired by Protestant reformer Martin Luther and thus changed his name while also changing the name of his then 5-year-old-son. 2. Dr. King was a prodigious student. Not only did he skip two grades and start college before formally graduating high school, but Dr. King also earned a bachelor’s degree at age 19, graduating from Morehouse College in 1948 with a degree in sociology. 3. Though not a singer, Dr. King earned a posthumous Grammy Award nonetheless. In 1971, Dr. King was awarded Best Spoken Word album for “Why I Oppose the War in Vietnam.” 4. Although people cannot readily find photographs of Dr. King smoking, he was a regular smoker and even hid the habit from the public and from his children so they wouldn’t take up smoking. It was believed Dr. King was smoking a cigarette when he was fatally shot. 5. While Dr. King is remembered as an enthralling public speaker, he actually scored poorly in public speaking

Men and women often make an effort to lose weight before special events such as weddings or vacations. While many people do so in healthy ways, others take their weight loss efforts to the extreme. For example, many brides-to-be aspire to shed excess weight before their weddings so they can look as slim as possibly in their wedding gowns. The New York Times even reported in 2012 on a bride who spent eight days on a feeding tube to strictly limit calories so she could

fit into her wedding dress. Such efforts are dangerous and could put individuals’ long-term health in serious jeopardy. Healthy weight loss for any occasion requires a long lead time, so that individuals can safely shed between one and two pounds per week with a healthy mix of diet and exercise, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Trimming between 500 and 1,000 calories per day from their diets can help individuals lose weight safely.

Acclimating To A New Neighborhood A new year means plenty of exciting opportunities on the horizon. For a number of people, this may be the year they relocate to a new home or apartment. The moving rate in the United States has remained steady since 2008, with roughly 12 percent of the population relocating each year according to reports from the U.S. Census Bureau. Movement to the suburbs continues to be high, and renters tend to move more frequently than others. People who move cite a new job or a job transfer as one of the primary motivators to relocate. Acclimating to a new home and neighborhood after a move can be challenging. Even after boxes have been unpacked and items put away, some people still feel unsettled. It could be because one of the most important parts of being in a new house is feeling at home. That involves meeting neighbors, having friends over for dinner and knowing all of the local haunts that help solidify a homeowner as a true member of his or her new neighborhood. It can take time to establish feeings of belonging, but here’s a way to speed up settling in. Host your own welcome party Rather than waiting around for others to welcome you to the neighborhood, take the bull by the horns and introduce yourself to your neighbors in a fun way. Host an open house party and invite your new neighbors. What better way to converse with others than with food, beverages and a festive atmosphere?

Plus, your party may lead to reciprocation from others.

Scout out the neighborhood Use mobile phone apps to see where the locals tend to congregate and plan trips to these restaurants and other shops. Over time, you probably will start to see some familiar faces. Drive around town and get a feel for side streets instead of the main thoroughfares. It’s often off the beaten path where you happen upon the greatest finds. Get involved If you have children, you may have the advantage of meeting people at school functions or at the bus stop. Volunteer with the PTA/ PTO or sign up to coach youth sports or serve as a scout leader. These opportunities will help expand the number of people you meet in your new community. Find people with similar interests Let your hobbies and other interests open up connections. Explore the opportunities in the area that cater to your interests. Find a local gaming shop and discuss the latest video game offerings, or check out a local band if indie music is your thing. Converse with others who are participating in the event or are in groups meeting in your area. After moving, getting acclimated to a new neighborhood and making new friends is one way to feel at home.

“ Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or - worse! - stolen by burglars.Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being. Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have! You can’t worship two gods at once. Loving one god, you’ll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other. You can’t worship God and Money both. If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds. Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion - do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers.

They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers - most of which are never even seen - don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” — Jesus Matthew 6: 19-34
