PROJECT SUMMARY
The three-year Master Facility Plan Expansion Project to strategically grow important services of the hospital including:
Sidney M. Oman Cancer Treatment Center Expansion – The construction of a new 32,000 SF horizontal addition will add technology, such as stereo-tactic radio-surgery, and advanced imaging tests.
Critical Care Tower – A 75,000 SF vertical expansion to the main hospital. The 3-story tower will include 22 new intensive care rooms, 28 new step-down rooms and a shell floor that will allow for a future 28-bed floor. The existing ICU, 12,000 SF, will be renovated to enlarge the rooms for a total of 8 new rooms. As part of the Critical Care expansion, a horizontal addition will house a new hybrid operating room and space for a second operating room.
Mother/Baby Unit Renovation – A 24,000 SF renovation of the birthing center to include a short-term neonatal intensive care unit and make each postpartum room 1 ½ times larger.
Existing Physical Plant Upgrade & Expansion – An upgrade to the existing Physical Plant equipment and expansion of the building footprint by 4,200 SF to house new boilers, controls & monitoring and emergency generator system upgrade.

The new 126,154 GSF, multi-story signature Health Sciences Building for Old Dominion University will house clinical teaching labs and support spaces for medical diagnostics and translational sciences (MDTS), environmental health, gross anatomy, cytology, hematology, microbiology, instrumentation, clinical chemistry, molecular diagnostic, nuclear medicine, and dental materials. The facility will include simulation spaces for inter-professional education, dental hygiene, Physical Therapy/Athletic Training/ Occupational Therapy, and a clinical services center which will serve the surrounding community. Associated faculty and departmental administrative offices of the College of Health Sciences will be included along with student success support areas. The building will be certified LEED Silver pending completion.

CIVICA SCALE UP FACILITY
PROJECT SUMMARY
This project includes the construction of a single story, 50,000-SF facility with exterior concrete tilt walls with structural steel interior columns, beams, and girders that support roof joists and decking. This facility will house laboratory spaces, contained environment rooms, and general administrative and communal space to support the ongoing research and development functions of this client. The building will also have several “shell” spaces for a future tenant or tenants to be co-located. The building has two separate loading docks with one of those supporting future tenant space. The project site and building pad is prepared to facilitate a future 10,000-SF expansion.
