Friend 'Til the End:

By Mikey Rox

Last Thanksgiving, I spent by myself. I live in my van and travel full time as a roaming nomad, and I wasn't near anyone special to celebrate. Naturally, I was in my feels, lonely on a holiday. So I published this to Facebook: "Need something to be thankful for today? We're less than two months away from Betty White's 100th birthday." Current events considered, that post didn't age well over the course of a few weeks; certainly not as well as its subject had over the course of her lifetime. I know what you're thinking: I killed Betty White. Of course I didn't, but when the news broke of the legendary actress's passing on New Year's Eve, I felt guilty for perhaps jinxing her chances of achieving centenarian status with my premature hopefulness. Thankfully, I'm not superstitious. The fact is, Betty White was old. Ninety-nine years old. It was her time. There was something else I felt when I read TMZ's report the morning of 2021's last hurrah: Cheated. Yes, I felt cheated. I don't think I'm alone when I say that we all deserved – after enduring several years of mounting setbacks and increasingly terrible headlines 22 | HotspotsMagazine.com

A Final Farewell to Betty White

– to see America's grandmother reach a milestone birthday that less than 1% of the human population reaches. Nobody deserved it more than Betty herself, but we deserved it too. Still, her last-day-of-theyear death wasn't altogether surprising. Chalk it up to one more way the 2020s are royally fucking us. Blue-check Twitter user Qasim Rashid, Esq. managed to soften some of that blow, however. Hours after Betty's death started trending, he offered a virtual Band-Aid for our collective hearts with this (unedited) tweet: "On one hand she was 99 years 348 days old when she died. On the other hand she lived through 24 leap years, i.e. 24 extra days. All I'm saying is mathematically, it arguably checks out that she lived 100 years and 7 days." That declaration is hereby official as far as I'm concerned. Digging a little deeper, what was it about Betty White that endeared us to her – perhaps more than any other Golden Girl our queer community quotes, imitates and venerates? That she was the last one left? Her singular dedication to animal welfare? Her

Guinness World Record for the longest working person in television? Those inevitable appearances on our lazy Sunday game show rerun marathons? Or maybe it was the way she played Rose Nyland with such believable naivety. There's something to the latter. Betty played plenty of memorable TV characters before Rose: The title character on "Life With Elizabeth," where she made history as the first female producer of a sitcom in the 1950s; perpetually perky Sue Ann Nivens on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"; and Ellen Harper Jackson on "Mama's Family." But Rose was different than any character Betty had taken on before – and that's exactly why she chose to play her. Any homo worth his salt knows that Betty originally was offered the role of Blanche, and Rose was meant for Rue McClanahan.

her friends, she was bawdy, a little bit crude at times. She enjoyed vodka and hot dogs. During World War II, she drove a PX truck as a member of the American Women's Voluntary Services. She never had a single acting lesson. While those first few characteristics make her relatable, especially for a celebrity who's been a celebrity the entirety of most people's lives still living on this planet, it's the last detail that stands out for me. She never had a single acting lesson because she didn't need one. She was a natural, but she also was genuine. We saw it and we felt it, in our homes and in our hearts, decade after decade. We didn't have to meet her in person to know that, unequivocally, if we threw a party, invited everyone we knew, we would see… You know where I'm going with this. Betty White – thank you for being our friend.

The former didn't want to play another iteration of sex-charged Sue Ann – the part she was most famous for before the 1985 premiere of "The Golden Girls" – nor did McClanahan want to regurgitate the sweetbut-scatterbrained Vivian Harmon, whom she played on Bea Arthur's previous vehicle "Maude." So they switched. And none of us can imagine it any other way. "The Golden Girls" was popular among queers then and now because we see ourselves in them. Among our own friends, we know a Sophia, Blanche, Dorothy and Rose. We personally identify ourselves as one of those character types as well. Or a blend of two or more. Me? I'm a quickwitted, smart-mouthed Dorothy-Sophia hybrid. Proudly. Betty wasn't Rose, though. According to

Tattoo

Maintenance

By S. Elfman

You've decided to get a tattoo. You have the perfect design, know where you want to put it and where you want to go get it. Is there anything else you need to know? Yes! Hotspots spoke with Miguel Valentin from Inkaddictiontat2 on Wilton Drive to learn about tattoo prep and maintenance. Is there any special prep you need to do before you get a tattoo? We suggest getting a good night's sleep, eating something before your appointment and staying hydrated. We also will not tattoo anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol. We also provide a free consultation with an artist prior to your tattoo, where we discuss your tattoo ideas, images, size and placement of your tattoo. On occasion we do walk in tattoos (when available), but we prefer to plan it out, especially with bigger projects! Are there areas of your body that are better for tattoos, so you get less fading? So, tattoos' worst enemy is the sun! The 2-3 weeks after getting tattooed is very important. Any sun exposure during this time will fade the tattoo. After the healing process we recommend the highest sunblock to protect it!! So, to answer the question directly, a part of the body that gets less sun exposure is ideally the best place to get tattooed when it comes to possible fading. How do you take care of your tattoo afterwards? and for how long? We offer a clear, breathable, self-adhesive bandage as our aftercare protocol. This bandage stays on for 24 hours, then is removed. The tattoo is washed then a second bandage is reapplied. That second bandage stays on for 4 more days! This aftercare bandage keeps the tattoo clean, and the body's own plasma works as a moisturizer to prevent any scabbing. After the 5-day initial period the bandage is removed (in the shower), the tattoo is washed and a non-scented lotion is suggested for the following 5 days. Wash the tattoo (anti-bacterial soap) and apply the lotion once or twice a day! How often do you need to get your tattoo touched up? If our instructions are followed, then there should not be a need for any touch ups for years to come! (In the special case of cover up tattoos, we always let our clients know that it will be more than one session!)

Selling Tampa

Exclusive Interview with Juwana & Gabriel By Scott Holland 36 | HotspotsMagazine.com

For those of you who haven't had the chance to see Netflix's newest series in the growing Selling franchise, Selling Tampa, it is time to check it out. This Florida-based spinoff follows the owner and agents of the all Black, all female firm, Allure Realty. Allure Realty is owned by military vet Sharelle Rosado, and has its eyes set on dominating the Suncoast. These ladies are equally as fun as they are fiercely ambitious, with all of them vying to be on top of the lavish world of luxury waterfront real estate. Sharelle has big plans for her brokerage and won't let anyone or anything get in the way of making her dreams a reality. In addition to Rosado, the cast includes Alexis Williams, Anne-Sophie Petit, Colony Reeves, Juawana Colbert, Karla Giorgio, Rena Frazier and Tennille Moore.

The only person you don't see in Selling Tampa, except for in the background in a couple episodes is their very sexy out Chief Marketing Officer, Gabriel Antonio. It was a pleasure to sit down with Gabriel and Juawana for this exclusive Hotspots interview:

How long have each of you been in the Real Estate business and when did each of you start with Allure Realty? J – I have been indirectly in the re business for about 15 years, and I have been with Allure for 2 1/2 years. G- I am the CMO and I have been with Allure since the beginning of 2020. Before this, I was in the music industry for 12 years. Other than Sharelle, who do you get along with the best and the least at Allure Realty and why? J – I don't know if I can pick one, but I get along with Gabrielle and Tennille, and the least everybody else. G – I would say I am the closest with Juawana and Sophie, but I get HotspotsMagazine.com | 37

along with everybody so I can't pick anyone. (Alexis the least according to Juawana). How is it working with an all-Female Realtor team? J – I think it is like a sisterhood, but in all families, you have disagreements. But its also empowering to work with women who look like you. It helps elevate you as you want to be just as good as them or better. G – Its inspirational and its awesome seeing them grow from the beginning. It's also great to see business booming. What's the best and worst thing about being in Realty? J – The best this is the potential to make as much money as your able to; its uncapped. The worst part is networking and getting your name out there so people can know and trust you to represent them. G – The best thing is learning about homes, inspections, etc. It helps me seeing the homes and seeing negotiations when it comes to marketing. I don't have a worse part about it. Describe yourself in 3 words? J – Direct, fun, and optimistic. G – Determined, outgoing and helpful. What do you do for fun? J – I am a loner, but for fun I like going to 38 | HotspotsMagazine.com

happy hours and trying different restaurants. I also like looking at model homes. G – I work so much, so for fun I like being at home. But I do love to take short vacations and to find new restaurants. Gabriel…. are you single/taken? I am currently taken for almost 2 years, and I met him scrolling through Tik-Tok. I saw this guy dancing and he had this big smile and was super cute. I then looked for him on Insta and slid into his DM. He took a while for him to respond, but eventually he messaged me, and the rest is history. Juawana….are you dating anyone? And if not, what are you looking for in a man? No, I am not. I would like to, but I have been super focused on my career. I like to have fun, so the guy needs to have a fun personality and they have to be understanding and supportive of my career. They also have to be financially stable, as I am not going to carry a man. Other than that, I am flexible. What does the future hold? J – The future is bright, but I don't know what it holds. However, I am here for the ride, and I am looking to make the best of what I have been given.

G – I think growing and stepping into my next venture and getting more involved with Netflix. I also may tap back into the music industry. I have recorded many songs in the past, and the first nightclub I ever performed at was Pulse in Orlando. Music is one of my passions. If they haven't already, why should our readers watch Selling Tampa? J - Because it is fresh, juicy, tumultuous and its about Tampa. We really showcase the community and how beautiful it is and the options there are in the Bay Area. In addition, we are easy on the eyes. G – Its inspiring and something new that you haven't seen before. These ladies are stepping into luxury real estate. You also get to see the personal lives of these women. These women are inspiring and very entertaining. Is there something I didn't ask you that you want to talk about?

J - We really want to be the go-to real estate agency in the Tampa Bay Area and Miami, and hopefully one day all of Florida. Its not about selling Luxury homes, its about providing a luxury experience. Best Ink! By S. Elfman

Hotspots reached out to local tattoo artists and asked them to share their favorite ink. Here is what they said:

Joel Josselyn of Electric Street Tattoo It's my favorite because Roger and I became best friends through the project. Electric Street Tattoo 320 E. Oakland Park Boulevard Wilton Manors, FL

Alex Joelle of Electric Street Tattoo It's my favorite because historically pin up tattoos have been females, but I've been able to reinvent the genre to appeal to a different demographic. Electric Street Tattoo 320 E. Oakland Park Boulevard Wilton Manors, FL

Miguel Valentin of Ink Addiction 2 This is one of my favorite tattoos for a few reasons. The first reason is that this client was a tattoo "virgin," which is my specialty. We started with the dragonfly, then added the Dragon then the Lion! It was a challenge, but I believe I was able to coordinate each piece to make it pleasing to view. Ink Addiction 2 2157 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, FL Inkaddictiontat2.com

Gabe Jaksic of Oriana Tattoo My favorite tattoo ever, in my 30+ years career in the tattoo industry, was the first tattoo given to my son Ian, before his deployment in the navy. It was really a rite of passage for him, and an honor for me not only for his service, but for allowing me to tattoo him. To me, it has always felt like all my years in the industry came to a conclusion when I was able to tattoo my son for his first time, and a sailor! Continuing with the old tattoo tradition of being the sailors, the ambassadors of tattooing! Oriana Tattoo 219 71st Street, Miami Beach, FL

Jake Metivier of Ink Addiction 2 I have been tattooing for 9 years. The tattoo attached is probably my favorite because it contains both black and grey work as well as color saturation. The tattoo was requested by the client to cover a huge scar. Ink Addiction 2 2157 Wilton Drive Wilton Manors, FL Inkaddictiontat2.com instagram.com/jakethetattooist

Tig Notaro and Dakota Johnson are 'OK’ with Sundance We like a high-profile queer project hitting the Sundance Film Festival, and the married directorial team of Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne is doing just that later this month with their debut feature, "Am I OK?" Written by Lauren Pomerantz ("SNL," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show"), and the film stars Dakota Johnson and Sonoya Mizuno ("Maniac," "Devs") as best friends whose relationship faces a series of challenges when one of them decides to 82 | HotspotsMagazine.com

move to London just as the other confesses her love. It co-stars June Diane Raphael, queer actors Sean Hayes and Kiersey Clemons, and co-director Notaro in a small role. As for the resolution of the will-they-or-won't-they trope, we're going to just assume that lesbian love wins the day. Because it should. Because the world is closer to perfection when it does. It's 2022 and we want a happy ending.

'LETTERKENNY' SPINS OFF WITH 'SHORESY' If you're still not part of the cult of the quite queer and completely Canadian "Letterkenny," you're missing one of the more charming, absurd, profane and sexy sitcoms of the past few years. But if you're already in the know, then you might be shocked to learn that the character of Shoresy is leaving for his own series. Back to you uninitiated types: Shoresy is an aggressive yet anonymous hockey player, seen only from the back (and voiced by "Letterkenny" star and creator Jared Keeso). His main activities are delivering filthy trash talk to all other hockey players and having sex with all those other hockey players' moms. Currently in production between "Letterkenny" seasons, "Shoresy" will follow him as he moves north to work with a different hockey team. Reportedly, "Letterkenny" writer and co-

star Jacob Tierney (who plays the wildly inappropriate gay Christian Glen) will tag along for some of these adventures, as will "Kids in The Hall" icon Scott Thompson. This gives us great comfort, because it's established "Letterkenny" lore that heterosexuality must never exist un-queered in some way.

IRA SACHS EMBARKS ON "PASSAGES" WITH BEN WHISHAW Not enough bisexuality in queer cinema, that's what we always say, so leave it to acclaimed queer indie filmmaker, Ira Sachs ("Love Is Strange"), to work that side of the street for his next film, "Passages." Written and directed by Sachs, it's the story of a gay male couple — played by Ben Whishaw (the recent James Bond films and, most importantly, "Paddington") and German arthouse heartthrob Franz Rogowski ("Undine,"

"Transit") – who've been together 15 years. Then one of them has an affair with a woman (Adele Exarchopoulos, "Blue Is the Warmest Color"), with all the consequences that attend that sort of thing. And while we're not a fan of the troubled, homewrecking bisexual trope in the media, we trust Sachs' brand of thoughtful exploration of queer life and all the ways it might not always line up neatly with our best hopes for ourselves. Recently wrapped, look for it to pop up at all the right film festivals later in 2022.

TONY KUSHNER WRITES FOR SPIELBERG, MICHELLE WILLIAMS, AND SETH ROGEN Most of you didn't venture out to see "West Side Story" on the big screen (we get it, there's still a

pandemic), but that collaboration between Steven Spielberg and "Angels in America" playwright Tony Kushner — the pair first worked together on "Munich" and "Lincoln" — has paved the road for yet another team-up. This time they've co-written "The Fabelmans," a semiautobiographical drama about Spielberg's own childhood in Arizona. Starring up-and-comer Gabriel LaBelle ("The Predator"), it's the coming-of-age story about a Spielberg-like teenager, and, we assume, how those early experiences found their way into his work. It also features Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Judd Hirsch, and a supporting roster of notable child actors like Oakes Fegley ("Pete's Dragon"), Nicolas Cantu ("The Walking Dead: World Beyond"), and Julia Butters ("Once Upon a Time In Hollywood"). Already in post-production, look for this one to hit theaters in November. Romeo San Vicente's New Year resolution is continued excess in all things. HotspotsMagazine.com | 83

How to CUT More Calories, EAT Healthy, & STAY SATISFIED!

Cutting calories can be an exhausting chore. Spending longer hours in the gym grinding out cardio or pumping more and heavier weights are a couple of options. These measures often result in overtraining or burnout awfully fast. Why not start with some easier and more practical ways to torch those unwanted calories and fat. Here are a few suggestions: Drink up before eating. Did you know that the body often confuses thirst for hunger? This makes it easy to down a few 94 | HotspotsMagazine.com

hundred calories with mindless eating when all you need is a glass of H2O! Keep a water bottle with you all day and stay hydrated. Also, have a glass of water or two before each meal to fill you up and keep your appetite under control. Start your day off with whole fresh fruit. Instead of a glass of juice at breakfast, opt for a whole orange, apple, a few melon slices, or a cup of berries. Fruit juices contain a greater concentration of sugar and thus more calories than whole fruit without the healthy pulp and fiber. Instead of drinking an 8-ounce

hummus with chopped vegetables, apple slices with almond butter, or yogurt topped with a few nuts. Stay active at work. It's great when you can budget time for the gym, but sometimes this is impossible. The solution is to do things at work to burn more calories and stay fit. Walk to work if you can. Park farther away from your destination at work or when running errands. Take the stairs whenever you can. Take a brisk walk or do some push-ups and crunches during your break times.

glass of orange juice for 122 calories, you can eat the whole fruit for just 69 calories and benefit from 3-5 grams of healthy fiber. Try some creative swapping when preparing meals. Going vegan is commendable, but most guys need their meat. So instead of doing without, try cutting back a little and save some calories and fat. When making burgers, meatloaf or meat sauce, try replacing some of the ground beef with chopped veggies like mushrooms, carrots, zucchini, or eggplant. They have the same meaty texture and taste and contain a lot less calories than meat and no saturated fat. You can do the same with carbs. Try using a mix of half potatoes and rutabaga when you make mashed potatoes. Cauliflower makes a yummy substitute for rice. When boiling pasta, go for less noodles and toss some chopped vegetables into the water during the last few minutes of cooking. Eat healthy, satisfying snacks. Making it from one meal to the next can be a struggle once you're hungry. Instead of eating quick, handy junk, treat each snack like a mini-meal. Choose items that have a good balance of protein, unsaturated fat, and fiber rich carbohydrates. Go for

Were you always a performer even as a child, or when did it begin? I fell in love with movies when I was a little kid, and it kinda grew out of that. I did force my friends and family to be in a Thanksgiving play in my garage when I was in preschool…yeah…I was the turkey. What was your first professional role? I spent a summer after my freshman year of college at this great place called Chautauqua in upstate New York. I did an Eric Overmeyer play called "On The Verge" where I played everything from a Yeti to Marlon Brando to a fortune teller…It was my first gig where I was paid and acting alongside actors in the union. When did you know entertaining would be your career? Oh God…I still question it. Hahahahaha. It's funny…I still feel like I'm in the headspace of, I love doing this, I'm gonna keep trying to do it until literally no one will let me. How did you get cast in Tootsie? I had been commissioned by the Roundabout Theater Company to write a new script to an old Anthony Newley/Leslie Bricusse musical called "The Roar Of The Greasepaint, The Smell Of The Crowd." They partnered me with the director Scott Ellis, and we workshopped it up in Poughkeepsie at New York Stage and Film,

and he and I just hit it off. We finished that workshop and I think not even 2 weeks later he called me with a script he wanted me to read, and it was for Tootsie. He asked me to just do one reading, and if I hated it or he hated it, we'd move on. I met the writers Robert Horn and David Yazbeck and loved them…and that was that. How exciting was it to win the Tony? Exciting is just one of the words. Surreal is another one. I was also super sick that week, and was on a bunch of drugs to try and get through it, so I was kind of out of it? My wife was 6 months pregnant…there was a lot going on. Add 8 shows a week on top of that, and that night was our day off. I think my goal was to just to get through the night standing. We had a show the next day. People don't tell you but going to the Tonys when you're nominated is a lot like going to a wedding where you may end up the groom. You're dressed up and excited to be there, but the bride may want nothing to do with you. I grew up in a small town where my only outlet to professional theater was watching the Tony Awards…so there's all this buildup from your childhood of this fancy, exotic thing, ya know? And then once you're

Seth there, you look around, and your brain splits because amazingly...you know the people you're sitting next to. It's not exotic-- these are your colleagues and friends. The Tonys is that show I watched on TV with people there that I'd never know. And then bam. Other than the Michael Dorsey role in Tootsie, what was your favorite role to play? Hamlet. I got to play it at the Guthrie when I was 23 and was so lucky for that opportunity and still think about that part constantly.

That and I did a great play written by Stephen Karam called "Sons Of The Prophet," off Broadway which I LOVED. Do you think it's easier or harder being married to an actor (Santino is married to actress Jessica Fontana)? Both. Ha! I don't know how it works with actors and non-actors because there's so much we don't have to say or explain about show business or the ups and downs and unstable insanity of it all. Then again, I will tell you when I go to see Jess in stuff I am 10 times more nervous than I ever am in the wings…not because I think she won't be great, she always is…I think when I actually think about what people are risking when they're performing is just so terrifying…and yet I don't think like that when I'm doing it. I don't think I'm letting my daughter near a stage. hahahaha Describe yourself in three words? Loyal, determined, and curious. What do you do for fun? Play with my 2 year old daughter. How did you meet Seth? Which one is Seth? What did you do during the quarantine part of the Pandemic? What did I do? What didn't I do? At this point it's going on over 2 years…I think I did what everyone did…I grew out my hair, grew a beard, gained weight, cut my hair, shaved, lost weight, was optimistic about the future, determined there's no point to anything, thought about taking the LSATS, lived with my parents for 5 months, rented an RV, bought a house outside the city, called friends, discovered cooking, recorded audiobooks, recorded demos for composer friends, made audition tapes, shot a few things, read a few things, and decided to grow my hair out again. What should our readers expect from your performance at the Seth Rudetsky Broadway Concert Series? Seth will give me shit in a sassy, yet loving way and I will undoubtedly dish it back. Tickets are $37-$67 with $123 VIP tickets. The VIP ticket includes a premium seat and post show experience with the artists. For tickets and information, please visit ParkerPlayhouse.com; by phone at 954.462.0222; in person at The Parker box office at 707NE 8th Street in Fort Lauderdale. HotspotsMagazine.com | 101

The series will premiere as a Crackle Original on January 20. These men, along with their boyfriends and girlfriends, give a glimpse into their lavish Los Angeles lifestyle, making their way through WeHo's hottest parties and glamorous red carpets with drama at every turn. The series also features Nick Masc, Hannah Coehlo and Laron Seals. It was a pleasure to sit down with cast members Darren Tieste and David Barta for this exclusive Hotspots interview.

FIRST UP WAS DARREN /////

WHEN WAS THE FIRST TIME YOU PICKED UP A CAMERA? Oh wow, my stepfather gave me a camera when I was 13. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST PAID GIG AS A PHOTOGRAPHY AND WHEN DID YOU KNOW PHOTOGRAPHY WOULD BE YOUR CAREER? For Dolly Mag in Australia, and it was a cute wet t shirt campaign on a beach near a bus stop. It ended up on the cover and I was just turning 21. At that point, I knew I was doing the right thing. I was so ecstatic. YOU HAVE SHOT MANY CELEBRITIES; DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE OR FAVORITES? I do. I love Scarlet Johansson, Amy Adams, Miley Cyrus, Jessica Alba, Kim Kardashian, The Hemsworth brothers, and lots more. Justin Timberlake is a standout for me. When

my first book came out, he grabbed me to go on the red carpet and it helped the book get so much publicity. He is a giving soul. YOU CO-FOUNDED THE COMPANY MIZZBLOOM ORGANICS, WHY DID YOU CREATE THE COMPANY AND TELL ME MORE ABOUT IT? In 2018 is when we started it and it went to market in 2019. I have always had beauty clients, and beauty brands, and we decided to do something. We did the research and we realized there weren't a lot of brands out there that certified with organic ingredients. Thank God, it's been going well. USDA stamp is on several of our products, and that confirms the purity of what we are selling. That was super important for us. HOW DID YOU MEET LARON, AND HOW IS THE RELATIONSHIP GOING? We met years ago, but I can't say too much about it as I want your readers to see it on the show. He is a handful though, but he is a great guy. HOW DID YOU GET CAST ON MEN OF WEST HOLLYWOOD? The casting director sent it to me and asked if it was something I would do and I said "sure, it sounds fun." WAS FILMING EVERYTHING YOU EXPECTED? WHAT WAS THE BEST PART AND THE WORST PART? I direct, so it was everything I expected it to

be. There was nothing bad about it, but it was 6 weeks of full-on filming. But it was great, and I made lots of great friends. DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 WORDS? Driven, loyal, and funny WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN? I love to travel, but that has been hard the last few years. However, when there is down time, I am on a plane somewhere. I also love the water. WHY SHOULD OUR READERS WATCH "MEN OF WEST HOLLYWOOD? The reason is it is packed with laughter, shade, tears, and just great times. 6 men, gay and straight and a girl…what more can you ask for?

I THEN SAT DOWN WITH DAVID /////

WHEN DID YOU START MODELING, AND WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST GIG? I started modeling about 3 years ago and it was a runway show for Sketchers.

YOU ARE A FORMER MR. CALIFORNIA, HOW DID YOU GET INTO PAGEANTRY/CONTESTS, AND WERE THEY EVERYTHING YOU HOPED? I got into pageant stuff through modeling and through Instagram. My experience was limited due to the pandemic. However, I think those days are behind me now. HOW DID YOU GET CAST ON MEN OF WEST HOLLYWOOD? I was friends with Murray for a long time and I had a lot of friends in the West Hollywood area, and due to that I got cast. WAS FILMING EVERYTHING YOU EXPECTED? WHAT WAS THE BEST PART AND THE WORST PART? It was a lot of fun, and I thought I had a pretty good idea of what was going to go 108 | HotspotsMagazine.com

on, but I constantly got surprised. The best part was the friendships I developed. The worst part is the people I thought I was close to stabbed me in the back. ARE YOU DATING ANYONE NOW, AND IF SO HOW DID YOU MEET, AND IF NO, WHAT'S THE PERFECT GIRL FOR YOU? Dating is casual out here, and I am not dating one specific person. My ideal person is someone who supports who I am and what I do for a career and knows how to kick my ass when it needs to be. DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 WORDS? "I'm big tasty" WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN? I love going to the beach and the west side. I also love going out with my friends in west Hollywood. I am a social guy. WHY SHOULD OUR READERS WATCH "MEN OF WEST HOLLYWOOD? Because there has never been anything like it before. Times are changing and certain

social concepts have become acceptable. The cast of Men of West Hollywood all love each other and are men doing our best making it in a crazy city.

By Andreus Quinones

“I feel very uncomfortable around her now, and she continues to pry.”

Dear Andreus, I started a new job a couple months ago. There is a young lady who works with me, who I avoided simply because she has a very complex personality. She approached me and asked me if I was gay. I am not ashamed of my sexual orientation, but I found it inappropriate. I told her that I am a private person and don't talk about my personal life at work. I feel very uncomfortable around her now, and she continues to pry. Should I take this up with HR, or should I say something to her again? Sincerely, Roberto R.

Dear Roberto, You should absolutely take this up with Human Resources. You are in a professional environment, and that is a violation of boundaries. Whether you are comfortable with your lifestyle or not, it is just not appropriate for someone to approach you with such personal questions. The fact that you

established boundaries already by telling her that you were a private person, and she continues to pry, gives you more than enough authorization to follow the proper channels to put an end to it. Talk to a supervisor or file a formal complaint. I hope things work out for you! Dear Andreus, I have been dating a guy for about a month now. We have not had sex but have made out a few times. I feel like it is getting intense and heading towards intimacy very soon. Though I always practice safe sex, I have not told him that I am HIV+. Even though I am undetectable and realize that there is probably 0 chance of my transmitting it to him, I am afraid to tell him. He is a total health freak, and I am afraid that he might take off if I do. I don't know what to do because I feel like I should say something. What do I do? Sincerely, Corey P. Dear Corey, As cliché as it sounds, honesty is always the best policy. We live in a time where being HIV+ is no longer a death sentence, and people are far more educated about treatment options and the minimal risks of transmission in intimate situations with persons that are undetectable. You might be pleasantly surprised if you tell him. Honesty is honorable, and if he doesn't accept it, that means that he is not the one for you. I would hate for you to continue with the relationship, engage in sex, and then he finds out later and is put off by your dishonesty. Regardless of what the outcome will be, you should be forthcoming. Hope this helps.
