“I don’t think we can look at these fragmentations as one-offs. Rather, they are harbingers of things to come as a new generation rises and replaces what have traditionally been organizations made up of predominately white gay men and lesbians. Yara Sofia

pisode four starts out with RuPaul telling the girls that the maxi challenge will be them headlining the All-Stars 6 Hall of Fame half time show. All the girls will be doing an impersonation of an artist that was once part of the Superbowl half time Show while lip synching a RuPaul song. The Stars they impersonated were: Ginger – Fergie Eureka – Madonna Ra'jah – Diana Ross Yara – Shakira Scarlet – Katie Perry Sonique – Steven Tyler Jan – Lady Gaga A'keria – Prince Pandora – Carol Channing Trinity - Beyonce

28 | HotspotsMagazine.com

Joining Ru, Michele and Carson on the main stage is Jamal, and the category on the runway is “The Frill of it All.” The winner was Jan, and the bottom two were A'keria and Yara. The Lip Synch assassin was Jessica Wild, who won the lip synch and therefore the groups majority gets the chop, and that was Yara. It was, once again, a pleasure to sit down with Yara for this exclusive Hotspots interview: How has your life changed since you were on Drag race the first time? Everything has changed dramatically due to social media. The show is so much more mainstream now since the first time. What has been some of your favorite cities to visit as a RuPaul Alumni? I loved Brazil, is the most fun for me. How exciting was it to get called back to

All Stars and did you consider not coming back? It was very exciting, and I would never not go back as I like it. How did you prepare differently for AllStars than you did the first time you were on Drag Race? I made sure we were not going to be in teams, as then I have full responsibility on what I do, and I didn't have a teammate. Not that there is anything wrong with a teammate, but I think differently than most. Is there anything you would have done differently? Nope, I have no regrets. What challenge or look on All Stars are you most proud of? I think all of them. I was proud of everything I did and everything I wore. Everything I wore has a story and I don't want to be disrespectful to any of them. Now that you have been eliminated, who do you want to win and why? None of them….LOL!! If I don't come back, you never know what RuPaul has up her

sleeve, I would like to see Sonique win. What's Ahead for Yara? I just want to keep doing what I do and enjoy life and enjoy that I have been a part of something this great and big. Have fun, meet people and make the coins. For more information on Yara, follow her at Instagram.com/yarasofiapr

Scarlet Envy Episode 5 starts out with Ru telling the girls that “Talk is Cheap” but having charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to talk to millions of people is priceless. For this week's Maxi Challenge the girls need to produce and host an intimate provocative and entertaining chat show called “Pink Table Talk.” Working in teams of 3, they will dish on either Body, Motherhood or Sex. The girls couldn't decide which group should take which topic, so they rock, paper scissored for it. Eureka, A'keria and Trinity get the topic of sex. Ra'jah, Sonique and Scarlet get the topic of motherhood. Jan, Ginger and Pandora get the topic of body. Joining, Ru, Michelle and ross on the main stage is Aisha Tyler. Category on the runway is “Clash of the Patterns.” The top team was Eureka, A'keria, and Trinity but the top all-star of the week was Ginger. The bottom 3 girls are Jan, Scarlet and Sonique. The Lip Synch Assassin curtain opens and standing there is Bianca Del Rio. After a bit of conversation, and some jokes Bianca says she is not there to lip synch, because she never had to lip synch on her season, so why should she start now. Then Mayhem Miller is revealed as the assassin this week. In my opinion the song was definitely up Mayhem's alley, and she did a good job, but surprisingly Ginger killed it, and had me in stitches! Ginger wins the lip synch and it's revealed that she chose Scarlet Envy to get the chop. It was, once again, a pleasure to sit down

with Scarlett for this exclusive Hotspots interview: How has your life changed since you were on Drag race the first time? In every way imaginable. I went from zero to 100 in a matter of a few weeks. All Stars reenergized that. I am traveling a lot and I have a lot of new friends and life is good…I am very happy! What has been some of your favorite cities to visit as a RuPaul Alumni? I really love Montreal because its not very far away from where I live in New York, but it feels like I am in Europe when I am there. I also love the United Kingdom. My hometown is Louisville Kentucky and I always love going back to visit. In addition, anywhere with a beach as I would live on a beach if I could. But my all-time favorite city is where I live in New York City. How exciting was it to get called back to All Stars and did you consider not coming back? I never considered not going back, as I felt it was the right thing to do. I love Drag Race as a fan and I loved being part of it the first time around, and it was a dream come true for them to call me for All Stars. How did you prepare differently for AllStars than you did the first time you were on Drag Race? I prepared a lot more the second time around then I did the first time. I pulled my resources, which I had now, and I worked with a team of people that do what they do much better than I can do. I had an incredibly talented team that I am so proud of. Is there anything you would have done differently? Honestly, no. I think I did the very best I could, and I had a great run when I was there. The best part is that the viewers have expressed to me that they saw me continually deliver. What challenge or look on All Stars are you most proud of? I think the look that I am most proud of is my redemption runway. Also, my love letter dress from my grandparents was amazing but I haven't seen the episode yet. I have a feeling that will become my favorite. Fashion is such a cool opportunity to be more than a pretty dress, it's a way to tell a 30 | HotspotsMagazine.com

story. Now that you have been eliminated, who do you want to win and why? My friendship with Raja is a treasure from this season, as our history was not great on our season. It is a true sisterhood, where forgiveness is so important, and love will always win. Raja has embodied changes for the better, and I hope she takes the crown. What's Ahead for Scarlet? I have so many things in the works. I am working with a bubble-esque tour, and a book of drag queen poetry. I can share some with your readers:

Robbed Queen – Where is always my stuff? Laundry – Tucking panties need to be cleaned, but another show, is starting now. I am also working on music and a music video, and I am touring. “Meet and Greet's” are my favorite thin as I love interacting and hugging the fans. SUMMER

hair trends s u m m e r c u t s By S. Elfman 34 | HotspotsMagazine.com

Historically male hair trends have not been as exciting as women's, but there have been some highlights through the years. Pompadours, mop tops, mohawks, Jheri curls, mullets, hitop fades, crew cuts and Caesar cuts are some looks that have made an impact through the decades and some of these looks have come back numerous times. Stylist Stephen Anthony has been doing hair for 30 years and has seen a lot of looks. “One trend that I despise that stuck around is 'The Ricky Martin,'” Anthony said, referring to the star's look in his “Living La Vida Loca” video.

Anthony works at Fantasy Barber Shop on Wilton Drive. He said the barber cuts are a big trend and he sees a lot of skin fades. Another trend is the cut with a part razored into the hair. He said regarding trends, in Hollywood it's one thing and locally it is something else. He mentioned that stars like Ryan Secrest are letting their hair grow a bit longer but he hasn't seen that look locally. “There's a handful of guys who like to experiment,” he said. “For the most part, guys get stuck in one look and they cling on to it.” When asked about popular hair trends for men, stylist Tory DeSilvio, of A Suite Salon in Boca Raton, said she sees a lot of “shaved sides and long on top hair.” DeSilvio said she also sees a lot of long lived-in hair, which is her personal favorite. Darren Thompson, lead stylist at Dick's Service Station in Oakland Park, said that texture is the top trend. “Hair has been growing out over the last year leading to clients wanting to do something more, something different with it,” he said. “Deep texture point cutting and disconnected hairstyles with bald side shaves have been the top sellers.” He said that “bold, youthful mid-fades with razor lines adding their own unique style are perfect for the younger Floridians wanting an exciting look for summer.” Regarding facial hair, Thompson said that bears and their beards have been a challenge with mask wearing. “A lot of those beards have changed to goatees and a porn stash,” he said. “We expect by this fall beards will be back with well-groomed lines and natural color as men venture back to the barber after their year long bear hibernation!”

“For the most part, guys get stuck in one look and they cling on to it.” HotspotsMagazine.com | 35

hair removal 101 By S. Elfman Nothing is wrong with being hairy, but for those who prefer a smoother look, there are several options. Each has its pros and cons, but you are the only one who will know which is best for you.

needed. A laser light is used to destroy the hair follicle. It can take around 8 appointments to get the smoothness you are looking for, but in the end, this process can help you save a lot of time.

Razors, back shavers

Shaving is the easiest and cheapest way to remove hair. The only negative? Ingrown hairs, which can be extra uncomfortable in some areas. If you want to banish your hairy back, there are a variety of back shavers out there, with long handles and wider razors, which make the process easier.

Wax

Although painful, results from waxing can last up to 6 weeks. It's best to get waxed by a professional, although there are several products for at-home waxing. Waxes stick to your hair -- not your skin. It is applied to the hairy area and covered with a cloth. Then the cloth is pulled away, removing the hair. Waxing is best for smaller areas, like eyebrows, ears, neck and armpits. You can wax your pubes, but be prepared for the pain.

Laser

One of the more expensive treatments, laser hair removal is a permanent way to de-fuzz - although sometimes touch ups are

Electrolysis

Like laser hair removal, electrolysis is also a permanent hair removal solution. A needle is used to penetrate and shock the hair follicle, causing hair to stop growing. Depending on the amount of hair you want removed, the process can take up to a year.

Sugaring

Sugaring is similar to waxing. A sugar paste removes hair at the root. It is supposed to be a gentler and more natural way to remove hair. Like waxing, itt can be done on any area of the body.

Depilatory creams

Depilatory creams, like Nair, etc., are a cheap and easy way to remove hair. They work very quickly and are typically painless, unless your skin is sensitive. Creams have a very strong odor and some are made for different parts of your body, so choose wisely. HotspotsMagazine.com | 41

Recording megastar and gay icon Kristine W, ranked by Billboard magazine as one of the greatest dance club artists off all time, will headline a spectacular concert and dance party on Fort Lauderdale Beach on Sept. 4. The concert is one of more than a dozen events comprising Bears In Lauderdale, a week-long celebration of the Bear community which debuts in Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale this Sept. 1-6. The week's activities include a slew of parties at Wilton Manors' hottest bars and nightclubs including a Furball Underwear Party, the first Mr. Lauderdale Bear contest, and a Bear and Leather Ball. “Kristine W is going to tear the house down and we couldn't be more excited,” said Chuck King, one of the event organizers. “Together with internationallyacclaimed DJ Dan DeLeon and DJ Rentboy, this Labor Day Weekend concert is not to be missed!” Tickets are on sale at wmeg.org/bears. Born and raised in Pasco, Washington, Kristine W found early success competing in pageants and talent contests, winning Miss Washington and a preliminary swimsuit award as well as a NFT award in the Miss America pageant. Today, she is one of the most popular dance club artists of all time, with 17 #1s to date on the Billboard Dance Club Songs

chart. She is currently listed among Billboard magazine's 8 Greatest of All Time Top Dance Club Artists, and she was ranked number three in Billboard's Top Dance Artists of the Decade. She is especially popular in the gay community and is an outspoken supporter of LGBT rights, frequently performing at pride rallies and charity events for pro-LGBT organizations throughout the U.S. After competing in Miss America, Kristine W moved to Las Vegas, where she regularly performed at the Las Vegas Hilton and won “Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year” for several years. Kristine W was recognized by the city of Las Vegas for her record-breaking number of shows, which led to June 28 being officially designated as Kristine W Day by the state of Nevada. Those performances led to her first record deal and subsequent debut single, “Feel What You Want”, marking the singer's first of 17 #1s on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. Kristine W is also tied for third place with Beyoncé for the most consecutive #1 hits with nine. In addition, her album The Power of Music is one of only three albums in the history of the chart to produce at least seven No. 1s from one album (Katy Perry's Teenage Dream [2010] also had seven, and Rihanna's Anti [2016] had eight).

How to Find the BEST SKINCARE Products for Men

By: Dr. Yuan. Provided by: Provenskincare.com Gentlemen, there is more to a skincare routine than your morning shave. If your facial care routine consists of a razor and some random shaving cream – listen up. Men's skincare is not a luxury, it's a necessity. Everything from cleansers, moisturizers to sunscreen should be part of your skincare regimen. You cannot hide behind that beard or scruff forever. Many men prefer beards to shaving so they don't have to deal with irritation and skin issues that many experience. Well, skin issues may be rooted in your lifestyle, genetics or how you're treating your skin, so don't blame your razor. However, if shaving is the sum of your grooming practice, this can contribute to a buildup of dirt, sebum and dead skin cells leading to clogged pores, blackheads, blemishes and ingrown hairs that will further cause that irritation that you're trying to avoid. Admit it. You spend more time caring for your car or your smart phone than your skin. 56 | HotspotsMagazine.com

Getting rid of that “5 o'clock shadow” or trimming your beard should be part of your routine, not your only routine. Just like your car, skin needs maintenance, too. The most important step of the day – and night. Cleansing your face in the morning, and at night, should be as routine as brushing your teeth. The best start to your skincare routine is to open up those pores in a warm shower. The steam will help as well

as loosen up dirt and impurities on the skin surface. If you have a fuller beard, soak in that steam for a few extra minutes.

Once those pores have had a chance to open up, wash your face, and your neck, with a daily facial cleanser best suited to your skin. Choose men's skin care products as they are specifically formulated for men's thicker facial skin and larger pores. Using a face scrub or exfoliator could prove helpful to your overall skin health, removing, excess oil, stubborn dry skin or dead skin cells.

What type of skin do you have? Greasy nose and forehead, blackheads? Probably oily skin. A balancing cleanser will remove impurities and help control oil without drying skin. Bar soap is good, but specially formulated facial cleansers are better. Lather up. Itchy cheeks, redness? Sounds like dry skin. A gentle exfoliating cleanser, with natural ingredients, will whisk away dirt and dead skin, leaving it feeling nourished and comfortable. Breakouts? Acne-prone skin can benefit from an antibacterial gel cleanser, washing away excess dirt and sebum and clearing clogged pores. Rashes, irritation? This could be sensitive skin caused by anything from pollution, food allergies, stress or harsh products. Try an all-natural face wash that is fragrancefree. No skin issues? Well, lucky you. A gentle daily cleanser will keep skin balanced and healthy-looking. In addition to cleansing, moisturizing is key. Hydrating skin will keep fine lines and wrinkles diminished. A cream or lotion with sunscreen or an SPF 30 will protect skin from harmful UV rays when you're on the

beach, slopes or doing other outdoor activities. A retinol-based face moisturizer will address and diminish signs of aging (you call them smile lines). You may also start to notice puffiness or dark circles. Add an eye cream to your skin care routine. Bearded fellows - condition that facial hair. Use a beard oil to keep that fuzzy face in check. A groomed beard is much more attractive and professional. A finished touch? A lip balm, preferably one with sunscreen, to keep lips soft and hydrated. The shift to personalized skincare No matter what type of skin you have or cleanser you choose, wash your face, and neck area, in the morning and at night. Showering first will open pores and cleansing skin will hydrate it, and then it will be prepped and in better condition for shaving. Complete your routine with a moisturizer with SPF for the AM and a night cream for the PM. Adding an exfoliator and eye cream will add to optimal skin health. And, since every skin is as unique as your fingerprint, it may be time to research personalized skincare. Customized products focus on your skin's specific needs and issues; one man's irritated skin can be the result of an allergy, while another's irritated skin may be caused by something in his diet.

Proven™ is personalized skincare. By taking a targeted skin assessment that focuses on your lifestyle, diet and other factors, Proven can pinpoint your specific skin type and issues, and formulate a daily (and nightly) skincare regimen, with a facial cleanser and moisturizers, perfectly suited to your unique skin.

Normalizing Queerness,

One Gay Kiss at a Time

'Love, Victor' stars Michael Cimino and George Sear on bringing gay sex to their YA series and impacting LGBTQ+ youth

By Chris Azzopardi “Love, Victor,” now in its second season, refuses to navigate coming out as simply a one-note experience. The gay teen-romance, a series spinoff of the groundbreaking “Love, Simon” feature film, launched its debut season last year on Hulu. The first season was created for Disney+, but the company declined to air it after filming was complete. The show, Disney execs decided, was too grown-up for its young audience. Season 2, then, was created with Hulu audiences in mind, which means more mature emotional themes and a good amount of gay nooky — in fact, an entire episode is devoted to the show's romantic leads, Victor (Michael Cimino) and Benji (George Sear), having sex. This season, the series follows Victor as a newly out high schooler, from all sorts of Benji-Victor (“Venji,” as they've been collectively coined) romantic side plots –– meeting the parents, learning about gay sex — to how homophobia, when complicated by deep-rooted cultural and religious beliefs, has to be unlearned. Before you read any further, know that this interview with Cimino and Sear, who talk about all that making out (and why they opted out of an intimacy coach for those sex scenes), includes some spoilers.

70 70 || HotspotsMagazine.com HotspotsMagazine.com

You guys owe me a few boxes of tissues for all the crying I did last night binging this season. George Sear: Yeah, it's an emotional one. Michael Cimino: It's a roller coaster, for sure. Sear: I, myself, was tearing up yesterday because I watched the first three episodes, and particularly the scenes with the parents. I also just have to start by saying that if I saw two boys making out as much as you two do in this season of “Love, Victor” when I was 16 years old, I would have made out with a lot more guys. Like, where were you in 1995? Cimino: I was still, um, not even a thought! I wasn't even a thought in either of my parents' heads. But no, I think we're moving in the right direction. I don't think we're in a very different time, but I think that we're moving in the right direction (with) shows like this, where young LGBT youth can watch it and be like, "Oh, this is normal. This is OK." I feel like a lot of straight teens are like, "Oh yeah, I can make out with this person or this person, and it's completely fine.” But it should be exactly the same for the LGBT community. They should feel no pressure and (it) should be completely normal to just kiss people in public. Or have sex with your boyfriend and have your mom or dad catch you, because that also happens with gay people. Cimino: Yes — yes, it does. It totally does. And I think that, obviously, right now, we're definitely talking about… this show is definitely (about) queer Latinos and I love that about it. I think that it's kind of exactly like every other straight teen show but except through a queer lens. I love that part about “Love, Victor.” Sear: It does show the difficult realities of coming out in today's age, which is a difficult thing for most people, but also just the joy in celebrating who you are and embracing who you are on the other side of that. And living your truth. I think gay sex has been really neglected on television and I was pleased to see the

second season of “Love, Victor” really go there with the sex. What did you appreciate about the way that this season tackled sex, George? Sear: I think just having LGBTQ writers bring their stories and their experiences into the script brings this authenticity and realness to the stories. So, the writing is all there. You know, as an actor to be able to play this part and then have such great quality writing is really kind of everything. What about you, Mike? Cimino: Honestly, the whole representation of Victor's sexual awakening and his sex life with Benji definitely relies a lot on George and I's chemistry. I think that George is — sorry to give you your flowers on here — so easy to work with and so incredibly understanding and so willing to just do things and try different things (to) see what works and what doesn't.

“They're not donating money to LGBT charities, they're not trying to do things that will help the LGBT community, but they're just taking the role because it's a cash grab...” Sear: Yeah, it felt very explorative on set, didn't it? Cimino: Yeah, for sure. Sear: They did say, “Do you want an intimacy coach?” and we felt, to be honest, both really dedicated to these characters and wanted to honor this writing and we just sort of felt like we had a closeness and were able to do that on set. Cimino: We completely opted out of having an intimacy coach. George and I both felt like we were very comfortable with each other already. We really just went for it, and I think that that kind of reads on screen, where it felt very explorative. It felt very new and exciting, and I think that's something that's really, really cool.

“...I don't think they had a very good experience with their sexuality, obviously, with the way things are in the military. And they said watching the show really just made them feel some sort of acceptance and heard.”

I don't know how you guys identify, but there's this conversation about straight people playing queer roles and if you are straight, you know what, you did your job. You were so believable in these parts. I really felt this relationship was a real relationship. Cimino: Thank you. Sear: Thank you for saying that. Cimino: That means a lot to hear because that is obviously a topic for discussion, and I'm glad it's a conversation we're having. I think conversations such as those should be had, but I think, realistically, it relies purely on an actor-to-actor basis. I feel like there are actors that are taking LGBT roles and not representing the community in an accurate way. They're taking it as a cash grab and then they don't represent the community afterwards, where it's like you're not advocating for the community. They're not donating money to LGBT charities, they're not trying to do things that will help the LGBT community, but they're just taking the role because it's a cash grab or, "Oh, it seems like it will make a difference in my career.” What has it been like for both of you to 72 | HotspotsMagazine.com

bring this Venji romance to life on screen? Sear: It's an ever-ongoing journey, particularly the difference between Season 1 and Season 2. Being on Hulu this time around, being able to tell more realistic stories, it's been great to be able to continue playing these characters and exploring their journeys collectively and individually and just exploring it in other areas, really, that we maybe weren't able to do in Season 1 (on Disney+). So, it's been great, and I hope we get the chance to get back to it. Cimino: Definitely. You have to do it again. You cannot leave me like you left me at the end of this season. Sear: No, no. We'll manifest it. Cimino: Yes. For sure, for sure. We've got to manifest it. Michael, are you Team Venji or Team Vahim? Cimino: Oh, man. I feel like… I don't know. I haven't been able to watch the show in its entirety, so I can't really say. I'm so torn. Sear: Yeah. He doesn't want to let you down on this interview, that's what he's saying. Cimino: I feel so torn. Sear: No, I think ultimately you probably just want Victor to be happy. Cimino: Yes, exactly. We just want Victor to be happy. That's a pretty good non-answer. Sear: That's a very good deflective answer, isn't it?

Cimino: I'm just… I'm confused, OK! My opinion on the third season is that you three just form a throuple. Sear: Hey, we'll pitch it. Cimino: (Laughs.) Yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll pitch it. We'll put you in the “special thanks.” Because the show has had an immense impact on LGBTQ+ youth — I mean, it would have changed my life, like I told you, when I was 16 — what's one letter you've received from a queer fan that really made you feel like what you were doing here was really affecting lives? Sear: Off the bat, one that sticks out to me — because there have been many — (was a) message from someone who's in the military. I don't think they had a very good experience with their sexuality, obviously, with the way things are in the military. And they said watching the show really just made them feel some sort of acceptance and heard. Cimino: I've gotten so many messages, but some of the ones that stick out to me the most are (from) people that are literally Latino and they're like, "This is my exact story, and this is exactly what I've been

going through with my mom, or my dad, or my uncle.” It's crazy to know that we're still not in that place where people can just accept their children or their family for just being true to who they are as people. I think that it's really inspiring for me as an artist to continue to push myself harder and to continue to represent the community in an accurate way because I get to see the impact it's making on people's lives.

CAN EXERCISE CHANGE YOUR MOOD? YES! Regular exercise is great for your physical well-being. Lower blood sugar, better cholesterol levels, decreased body fat, increased muscle mass and better flexibility head up the list of advantages to keeping fit. Did you also know that numerous recent studies have uncovered marked psychological improvements in people who are fit? Yes, exercise can put you in a good mood and keep you there! According to Richard Norris, PhD at the

78 | HotspotsMagazine.com

University of Birmingham in England, the psychological and physiological benefits of exercise begin early. In several studies, 200 adolescents were put through a ten-week fitness training regime. Besides the evident physical improvements, subjects also reported less anxiety, depression, hostility, and stress after regular exercise. Further studies on other populations reported that regular exercise also quickens the mind's ability to process information, improves

memory and retention, and sharpens the decision- making processes. As it turns out, there is a real and tangible mind/body connection in all of us! For most people, getting to the gym is a chore. Once there, it can be tough to muster the strength to work out on a regimented basis. Yet once a person starts exercising regularly (even just 20 minutes per day!) it doesn't take long to feel and see the wonderful changes that begin to take place in the human body. Exercising can then be seen as something really good that you can do for yourself! Psychologically it just goes to show that if you have a goal, you want badly enough and are prepared to work for it, you can achieve almost anything you desire in life. The confidence and self-esteem you build in the gym can carry over into work performance, social relationships, and just about every other aspect of life. For people who deal with depression,

anxiety and other stress related disorders, exercise is truly a must. Physical activities like weight training, hiking, yoga, Pilates, swimming and even walking release powerful painkilling, feel-good, chemicals in the body called endorphins and enkephalins. These hormones counteract the fatigue, aches, pains, and bad feelings caused by other stress induced and destructive hormones like cortisol. A word of warning is in order. Even exercise can be overdone. You need to be an avid fitness enthusiast, not an addict. When a person becomes so hooked on exercise that it becomes the driving, dominating force in life, excluding family, friends and job, something is out of order. Some guys won't even take a break from working out when they are injured. This is pure craziness! Others become so hell-bent on having the perfect body that they cheat by using outlandish supplements and banned drugs. Exercise is great. It is essential to living and enjoying a better quality of life. But when it goes beyond reasonable limits, a healthy reality check or counseling from an expert in addiction may be in order.

The sixth collection from Massbranded draws inspiration from the Olympic Spirit and the pursuit of excellence in mind, body and will that the games represent. “The idea of a man setting his mind on the prize, pushing himself to the limit and reaching for the stars is very empowering and attractive,” says designer Mass Luciano. His brand of high-end men's streetwear has become known for pushing boundaries and leaving nothing—and everything—to the imagination. “I aimed to capture the confidence and optimism of elite sportsmanship in this summer's collection.” “As a kid, my parents would sign me up for basketball, baseball and soccer,” recalls Luciano. “I wasn't an athlete, but I loved putting on the uniforms. Each had a unique look and functionality that I admired.”

In Massbranded's Collection No. 6: Sixth Dimension, Mass Luciano creates a universal uniform that mixes street and sportswear, elevating the looks with tailored construction and just the right amount of sex appeal. His Victory tank top is a reimagined basketball jersey that shapes the chest with mesh panels and frames the torso with sides made from light weight stretch terry, for added comfort. The Interstellar pullover by Massbranded draws its inspiration from Olympic Fencing. “I love how sports protective gear is often made to look futuristic, like space suits,” Luciano explains. Crafted from soft bonded jersey and contrast mesh panels, the color blocked white and gray sweatshirt features raglan sleeves that accentuate the shoulders and mesh panels that reveal a bit of skin. There are three distinct color stories in Collection No. 6: Sixth Dimension. Each represents a different team, mindset and attitude. Team Red is passionate, aggressive, seductive, and daring. Styles are color blocked with black, for a look that's sexy, eye-catching and revealing.

Team Blue is strong, dependable, calm, and playful. The blue is color blocked with black and white for a look that's bold yet inviting. Finally, Team Gray is neutral, timeless, complex, and mysterious. Gray mesh is color blocked with contrasting white, for a look that is more discrete, allowing a slight flash of skin. An important theme that permeates throughout the No. 6: Sixth Dimension collection is the idea of athletes reaching for the stars. Space elements have been incorporated into some of the

pieces, including the Galactic Print Tank Top and Shorts - two styles crafted from basketball mesh material that feature a galactic camouflage print with stars, planets, and wavelengths. Mass Luciano even designed a space jumpsuit for the new collection! Inspired by extreme sports, The Flight Jumpsuit embodies the high risk and drama of action and adventure by combining mesh with micro nylon stretch twill and contrasting piping and zippers. With over fifteen years of experience in the fashion industry, Puerto-Rico-born Mass

In 2015, he was named Mr. Gay Hong Kong and then won the title of Mr. Gay World. The achievements inspired Mass Luciano to chase his other dreams, including the launching of his energetic namesake streetwear label, Massbranded; a brand that celebrates men who champion individualism, boldness, and the desire for attention.

By Andreus Quinones Dear Andreus, I dated this awesome guy, and though things were great, we decided to separate because our lives are going in different directions. We remain friendly and intertwined in our mutual circles of friends. Recently, one of my friends has been trying to initiate something with my ex, and I feel like that is inappropriate. Some of my friends say that I shouldn't care since he is my ex, and others say that it is disrespectful. I don't know if I should say something or not. Any advice? Sincerely, Carlos M. Hi Carlos, This is a sticky situation, simply because some people equate boundaries differently from others. With my friends, we have a code. Anyone that we have dated or are interested in, is off limits to everyone else. This is just built on respect and preservation of our friendship, which is of the utmost importance. I can fully understand why you would be bothered. I would dare say that as many guys as there are to chose from, your friend could certainly find someone besides your ex. If you feel as if this is going to negatively affect your friendship, then you might want to say something before it is too late. Just keep in mind, that boundaries mean different things to different people. Hope that helps. 102 | HotspotsMagazine.com

Dear Andreus, My job is requiring that I move to California for a year for work. It is part of a process that would lead to a great promotion and awesome benefits. My partner does not want to go to California and is unwilling to do long distance until I return in a year. I love him deeply but find myself in a difficult situation. He told me that if I leave, we are over. Why should I have to choose? I don't know what to do. Please help. Sincerely, Jesse R. Jesse, The only thing I can tell you, is do what is best for you in the long run. You should not have to choose your career over your relationship or vice versa. In a perfect world, anyone who truly loves you would encourage your advancement, and not force you to make this type of decision. It seems like whatever decision you make; it is going to be a difficult one, but never short yourself because someone else is holding you back. If for some reason the relationship didn't work in the future, you would be plagued by the “what if” of going after your promotion. Again, do what is best for you, and let the chips fall where they may. The people who are meant to be in your life, will stay.
