Take a look at what the organizers have in store for the one day festival which will take place on Sunday, February 26. The celebration will take place on Friday, February 17 starting at 4pm. Take a look at our article for more information. We have an interview with legendary female impersonator Joe Posa who tells us about his new show “The Bitch is Back” which revives his dead on impersonation of the late great Joan Rivers. ast Friday, we were planning on having a quiet night at home, maybe having a glass of wine and catching up on reality TV when we got the call from Twist that Alan Cummings was going to be making an appearance after his one night show at The Adrienne Arsht Center. We rushed over to get a picture of him hanging out with the powers that be at Twist in their VIP area. On Saturday, we started the day at the 2017 Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series on Fort Lauderdale Beach, and had a fun time and got a nice tan. In the evening we went to see, one of our favorites, Pam Ann, perform at the Sunshine Cathedral as part of the Outlandish series. As usual, she was AMAZING! Later

Headliners America's Got Talent phemon, Brian Justin Crum and Grammy Award nominee and country music singer Ty Herndon come to town and bring the star power to the 40th annual Pride Fort Lauderdale. In 2016, Brian Justin Crum shot to fame on season 11 of America's Got Talent, where he eventually finished in 4th place. After receiving several standing ovations during his performances, it was obvious that great things were ahead for Crum, who

finished out 2016 with the release of his version of Robyn's hit Show Me Love. Next week, Hotspots will feature an exclusive interview with Crum. Ty Herndon blew the doors off the closet several years ago when, in an interview with People Magazine, he became the first country music star to come out. Like many men of his generation, his journey to the freedom of living his truth was bumpy and messy, but Herndon has never let the hard times hold

him back for long. When he spoke with Hotspots he told us; “the most amazing thing about the last two years of my life is being able to live so openly and authentically, not only in my personal life but in my professional life as well.” He added “I was lucky enough that the country fans have been gracious and the only thing that's changed is that I have a legion of new fans with the LGBT community and it so awesome to see everybody come together.”

No Pride festival would be complete without a handful of DJs to keep the party going. This year, Pride Fort Lauderdale will feature DJ AJ Reddy, DJ Wendy Hunt, and DJ Joe

Gauthreaux. DJ AJ Reddy has developed a local following in South Florida and he will surely have the crowd moving. Every week, he can be found bringing his music to the community at our local establishments. Joining him as a guest DJ for Pride Fort Lauderdale is DJ

Wendy Hunt, who is a living legend and is celebrating her 43rd year as a DJ. Wendy has been dubbed the “Queen Mother of DJs and has brought the house down at legendary parties like Winter Party and White Party, right here in South Florida, as well as Ascension Party in Fire Island. Rounding out the DJ talent is DJ Joe Gauthreaux who is one of the most sought after DJs and producers in the industry. He has played

almost every major circuit event all over the world, including Winter Party Festival, Black Party, White Party Miami, Song Kran Bangkok, New Year's Rio at The Week, Atlantis Cruises, among others. A staple at major clubs across North America, Brazil and Asia, while holding multi-year residencies in several key markets across the world, his name is synonymous with having an amazing and unique musical experience.

JOE POSA brings JOAN RIVERS back to life “The Bitch is Back!”

Takes Over Empire Stage Theater March 16-April 9th By Scott Holland Joe Posa, brings his spot on impersonation of the late and great comic icon Joan Rivers in “The Bitch Is Back!” to the Empire Stage Theater (1140 North Flagler Drive, Fort Lauderdale) from March 16 to April 9th. It would be easy to rave about how good Joe is, but I don't think I can say it nearly as eloquently as these two journalists did: “As someone fortunate enough to have interviewed the real Rivers a few times—the inal time, her last major interview before her death in August 2014—“the similarities of voice and presence between the igure—the performer, Joe Posa—and Rivers are resonant and mesmerizing.” Tim Teeman, The Daily Beast” “The voice is exact, the hairdo and clothes as Joan wore, the mannerisms and jokes were making one believe that this was indeed Joan Rivers on stage.” Gary R Beck , Puerto Vallarta Restaurant & Entertainment Guide It was a pleasure to sit down with Joe/Joan and her husband/manager, Frank Ribaudo for this exclusive Hotspots interview. What's the irst drag show you ever attended?

I saw Lypsinka in New York City in the Village. I was so impressed by him and I loved his Theatrical approach. It was in the late 1980's. When did you start doing Drag, and what made you start? When did it become your career? I started out as a dancer and did a lot of theater and for fun after shows, I would grab a hairbrush and lip sync Barbra [Streisand]. People thought it was great. Sometime later, I started an act without make up imitating different famous stars. I knew nothing about make-up, costumes or hair. Then in October of 1993, an Evening at La Cage came to New York at the Blue Angel and they were casting. So I attempted to do the hair, makeup, and costumes and I went in to audition. Everyone in New York wanted it and they were only hiring seven people. They hired me and worked with me, to help me learn how to do my make-up, etc. and it changed my life. I was cast as Barbra and Liza at the Blue Angel on 44th street. We did six or seven shows a week. I then started doing the club scene and it took off from there. When did you start impersonating Joan Rivers? I had always loved Joan and her New York Sensibility and the fact that she was a survivor in life. In 2002 I decided I was going to try impersonating her, and the irst time was at the Boatslip in Provincetown. They were doing a fundraiser called the Hollywood Ball, and I thought Joan needed to host this event. I had four to six weeks to get it together and luckily it went really well. I then incorporated her into the shows I was doing. Shortly afterwards, I started getting more and more requests to host events and do red carpets as Joan. She was so hot, I was getting so much work impersonating her that the other characters became secondary. Did you ever meet Joan Rivers? I got hired to go to Houston Texas to do a red carpet as Joan. Unbeknownst to me Joan Rivers was the host of the event. We both went on stage together and afterwards she invited me into her dressing room and we got to know each other. We had a connection. She was like a mother, so nurturing.

She is in my head when I'm performing. I am her. I feel like I am channeling her. I'm a vessel for her work and her voice

She invited me to come to any of her shows complimentary. Sometime later, I did another gig with her. It was on CBS This Morning, promoting her then Show “How'd You Get So Rich?” We arrived in her limo and as they introduced Joan Rivers exiting the limo, it was actually me as Joan, followed by Joan.

You are now performing with Tony Tripoli, how did that come about? In 2012 I decided to contact Tony about maybe opening up for him. For those of you who do not recognize the name (as I am sure you would recognize his face) Tony had ive incredible years as a regular opening act for Joan Rivers. He was, and still is executive producer and head writer on E!'s hit show, “Fashion Police,” and he was also a cast member on “Joan And Melissa: Joan Knows Best”, and the online phenomenon, “In Bed With Joan.” I invited Tony to come do a show with me in Boston. Before he said yes, he asked Joan who immediately gave her approval, and said, “I love Joe Posa, he is my favorite Joan Rivers Impersonator”. We performed together at Club Café , the club my husband owns, that same year. Since you mentioned him, how did you meet your husband Frank, and how long have you guys been together? I met Frank at Club Café in October of 2000 and we have been together ever since. How did this Show, The Bitch Is Back, Joe Posa as Joan Rivers,” come about? In 2014 I saw Joan perform live again in Provincetown. We met at the VIP reception after the show. I told her I am doing you in the show down the street, but of course I always do you respectfully, to which she replied “You Can Do Me Disrespectfully.” It turns out it was the last time we would meet. Just two months later she passed, and about a year later I decided I wanted to do a tribute to her. I called Tony, and we put this show together. He opens for me now the same way he used to open for Joan. He does the irst 30 minutes and then I do about an hour. We have successfully been touring the show from New York to Los Angeles and 15 or so cities in between, as well as a recent two week engagement in Puerto Vallarta at The Palm Cabaret. Being able to bring this tribute show to Fort Lauderdale, our community, is truly very exciting. Putting her comedy back out there is a powerful piece as she left us so suddenly and tragically. I do this as a tribute to her life! I have also gotten more edgy, as I feel I am channeling Joan in the performances.

It's really a healing process for both of us to keep her comedy alive. How do you capture Joan so perfectly? I need to feel the journey of who that person is to impersonate them. Joan was a survivor of show business and suicide [of her husband Edgar Rosenberg, in 1987], and she has many parts of her that were compassionate because of that. She is in my head when I'm performing. I am her. I feel like I am channeling her. I'm a vessel for her work and her voice Tony gave me the most amazing compliment ever, he said: 'People can look and sound like her, but you smell like Joan.'”

How do you keep Joan with you? Joan's favorite piece of jewelry she sold on QVC was the Bee pin. Bees are not anatomically correct to be able to ly, but they do. It's the same as Joan's life as she de ied all the odds and became successful. In Puerto Vallarta, as I was writing the script for one of the video's for my show, produced by Broken Heel at Cinema 31 Studio's right here in Wilton Manors, I couldn't get rid of a bee that was lying around me. I realized Joan was there. Joan had three Bee Pins that she kept for herself. For my birthday, in August, Tony gave me one of Joan's Altoid cases, which she always carried with her. In the case were three Bee pins that she had worn. I was so honored to get this. I wear them on stage all the time, so Joan is always with me. Don't forget to catch Joe in “The Bitch Is Back!” at the Empire Stage Theater from March 16 through April 9th playing Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm and Sunday at 5pm. When I moved to Fort Lauderdale, I was a When I moved to Fort Lauderdale, I was a

member of Asians and Friends and Southern Country South Florida. We would have backyard fundraising social events, and of course, we had to have the “wig wagon.” The performances grew from two drag queens to mini-production numbers. The sense of acceptance that I experienced made me realize that I wasn't the only shy boy in search of out an outlet. After a few stage performances, I realized that drag could not only fill a void, but might pay for itself over time. Who is your drag mother and who is your favorite queen other than your drag mother and why? Usually a drag mother helps you develop your craft and takes her under her wings. I did it backwards as evidenced in my early photos. I developed Dee Dee Van Carter by researching drag queens from the past. I wanted to capture the essence of drag from the ladies of the Jewel Box Revue. The images were my inspiration, but turning inspiration into reality sometimes requires the voice of experience. I turned to a dear friend I affectionately call my “Drag Mother,” Cathy Craig. She is and continues to be there for this ole gal. My favorite drag queen was Cashetta, may she rest in peace. As a female impersonator, singer, magician, and comedian, she brought drag to the stage in 3D. What's your favorite number to perform and why? My favorite number is a Connie Francis Medley featuring her greatest hits. When I perform the number, it brings smiles from fans of the era and younger fans as well. When the audience sings along with Where the Boys Are, it brings me joy and a feeling of satisfaction of a job done well. What's the best thing that has happened to you in drag? There is a saying, “There is just a small step from a small stage to the big stage.” During my run at Monkey Business Bar, a casting agent and director attended one of my themed shows. They came back a second time and offered me a role in an Off Broadway Musical called Little House on the Ferry performed at the Broward Center for the Performing arts. Along with meeting a wonderful cast, I felt privileged at being part of a musical that supported marriage equality. What differentiates you from other Queens? I learned early on that to be successful you have to learn to use a microphone. Hosting a weekly show at Monkey Business Bar for seven years, I always shared the mic with each performer

I greet each customer as they arrive with a smile and I thank them for their generosity as they say good bye. What does the future hold? I'm in the process of working with a focus group to create a venue that brings our community together around a variety of art forms. Can you handle an explosion of creativity where talent just melts off the stage? Me too! Where can we find you on stage? In these days with so much doom and gloom, I feel it's important to seize upon positive things when we find them. One such story is about the Islamic Center in Victoria, Texas. The Center had previously been broken into several times and last week was destroyed by a suspicious fire. Just when it was darkest, a group came forward to give the Muslims a place to worship. Shahid Hashmi said, "Jewish community members walked into my home and gave me a key to the synagogue." Robert Loeb, president of Temple B'nai Israel, didn't think twice about the act of kindness. "We have probably 25 to 30 Jewish people in Victoria, and they

probably have 100 Muslims. We got a lot of building for a small amount of Jews." There's a lesson to be learned there.

Recently, numerous sources claimed Trump planned to sign a "religious freedom" executive order which would roll back protections to members of the LGBT community in the workplace. It's been rumored that the bill was being prepared by Pence and his followers. Allegedly Trump didn't even know about it. A few early drafts leaked. Protests were hurriedly mounted around the country. And each day...nothing. On Thursday night, everyone

said Friday was the day. And on Friday, no bill was forthcoming. But an explanation emerged. Support for our community came from Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Ivanka's husband and Trump aide. Ivanka is a registered Independent and has been described as very progressive; Kushner is a lifelong Democrat. Allegedly, the couple not only argued against the order, but felt it was important to send out a strong message denying the rumor. The White House released a statement: "President Donald J. Trump is determined to protect the rights of all Americans, including the LGBTQ

Elsewhere in Great Britain, the Policing and Crime Bill finally went into effect. Adrian Grenier

We all know Tom Daley is in great shape - a lad who has been known to share glimpses of it online (as you can see on my website). But, please, don't compare yourself to Tom's amazing body. It's futile. "I train six hours a day, six days a week. It's not as if it's something that happens just from going to the gym for 20 minutes or an hour a day." Who goes to the gym 20 minutes a day and expects to look like Tom Daley? That said, Tom wants you to have hope. "I know that if anyone else trained for six hours a day six days a week, they would get the same results."

Here in the States, the Boy Scouts made a historic ruling and decided that transgender boys can join the organization. In the past, membership was based solely on the birth certificate. A spokesperson for the group stated, "Starting today, we will accept and register youth in the Cub and Boy Scout programs based on the gender identity indicated on their application." This is more in line with the Girl Scouts membership guidelines. Although the Scouts won't admit it, this change came about because of an 8-year-old transgender boy from New Jersey named Joe Maldonado. Joe was

community." It's said the draft was one of about 200 that was written but never even reached Trump's desk. "Some are real, some are drafts of things people like, and some are ideas people from outside have suggested." While there's still much to question and worry about, let's savor the positive when we see it.

kicked out of the Scouts a few months ago because he was born a girl. "Just knowing that he can go back to his Scouts and knowing that he's accepted, it means a lot," says his mom.

Our "Ask Billy" question comes from Stan in Los Angeles: "First you had those hot 'Teen Wolf' boys. Then Tom Daley. Now there's a video of Adrian Grenier pleasuring himself somewhere online. But it's vanished. Can you find it?"

I wish I could disclose the machinations I went through to get this video. Let's just say it pays to travel with a pair of Ben Wa balls. In the video, Adrian is Skyping with someone and pulls his sizable appendage through the bottom of his briefs. About two minutes later, a male voice calls out to Adrian, saying he's gonna take off. Grenier says, "I'm just gonna take a shower if you wanna wait." The guy apparently didn't wait, so Adrian continues working on what Courtney Robertson from "The Bachelor" called "the biggest penis I'd ever seen - and the biggest bush!" The video may have disappeared from most places, but you can still see every inch of Grenier on

When Adrian's appendage is big enough to have its own entourage, it's definitely time to end yet another column. Of course, you can get all this and much more on the only site where a big bush isn't a political euphemism. If you've got questions, send them along to and I promise to get back to you before Tom Daley releases a 20-minute workout DVD (and, perhaps, an R-rated version). Until next time, remember, one man's filth is another man's bible.

Celebrating Black History Month

Tim'm T. West b. July 6, 1972

There are aspects of ourselves that we are encouraged never to reveal, but I'm not a unicorn. - Tim'm T. West

Hotspots has teamed up with our partners at to celebrate Black History Month. Tim'm T. West and Alvin Ailey are two 20th century LGBT Icons who have left an indelible mark on the world around them. Tim'm T. West, born Timothy Terrell West, is a hip-hop performance artist, poet, activist and educator. He has produced nine albums, written extensively about hip-hop culture and has been a spokesperson for a new generation of openly gay musicians. West was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He had a speech impediment as a child that caused him to stutter and repeat the “m” in his name, which led him to include it in his moniker. West was a respected student and athlete who became interested in music at a young age. He was interviewed by recruiters from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point while in high school, but was rejected when he told them he was gay. West was an active Boy Scout and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon). But when he came out to his bishop and was rejected, he struggled with depression and anxiety and even contemplated suicide. He admitted later that the experience in luenced his youth outreach as an adult. West was a serious college student. He attended Duke and Howard Universities and

later The New School for Social Research in New York, where he was exposed to the spoken word and poetry scene. While pursuing his master's degree at Stanford University in 1999, West discovered he was HIV positive. The revelation inspired him to begin his youth advocacy work and to join with friends to launch the queer hiphop group Deep Dickollective. West coined the term “homohop” to describe homophobia in the hip-hop community. As a solo artist, West has released music and published many books, including “Red Dirt Revival: a Poetic Memoir in 6 Breaths.” He performs, writes poetry and hosts “Front Porch,” a spoken word showcase that travels to colleges and universities. He also created a one-man show called “Ready, Set, Grow: A Coming of Age Story” about his life. He launched and continues to advocate for youth with Teach for America, where he combines education and advocacy to improve the experience of LGBT students in public schools. West's daughter, Shannon Rose Matesky, is also a spoken word artist. They both live in Chicago.

Alvin Ailey Jr. January 5, 1931-December 1, 1989

I am trying to show the world that we are all human beings and that color is not important. What is important is the quality of our work. - Alvin Ailey Jr

Alvin Ailey Jr. was an internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer. He founded the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, a dance company hailed as an ambassador of American culture. Ailey formed a multiracial company and revolutionized dance, incorporating elements of ballet and jazz, along with modern and African dance, into his work. Ailey grew up in Rogers, Texas, the son of a young, struggling single mother. His father abandoned the family when Ailey was six months old. In 1941, the family moved to Los Angeles, where Ailey met Lester Horton, who ran the irst multiracial dance school. Horton took Ailey under his wing, teaching him a variety of dance styles and techniques. In 1953, Ailey joined Horton's company. Later that year, he was named artistic director. In 1954, Ailey made his Broadway debut dancing in “House of Flowers.” He also performed in “Sing, Man, Sing” with Harry

Belafonte and in “Jamaica” with Lena Horne. In 1957, Ailey established the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The company's premiere performance, “Blues Suite”—a riveting work re lecting the African-American emotional experience—de ined Ailey's theatrical and eclectic style. A proli ic choreographer, Ailey created 79 original works for his company. “Revelations” (1960), recognized as his signature piece, is touted as the mostwatched work of modern dance. “Cry” (1971), one of Ailey's most successful works, was dedicated to his mother and African-American women. In 1979, Ailey received the Springarn Medal for outstanding achievement from the NAACP. In 1988, he was recognized with a Kennedy Center Honors Award. Ailey died at age 58 from complications of AIDS. In his memory, a section of West 61st Street in New York was named “Alvin Ailey Way.”

bohemia, reuniendo numerosos bares playeros, clubes y restaurantes.

General Information

El Salvador is located in the central part of the American continent. El Salvador at present, has a population of more than 6 million inhabitants. El Salvador acquired its status

as a free and independent republic in 1859, after separating from the Central American Federation in 1841, a union that was dissolved de facto two years earlier, in 1839, when the rest of Central American states had been separated, leaving only El Salvador as an official member of it. El Salvador borders Honduras and Guatemala and is divided into 14 provinces. The capital city is San Salvador. Natural Treasures

El Salvador is known for its natural riches such as its extensive mountains, which are covered by grassland and thin forests of holm oaks and conifers. The natural vegetation of the rest of the country is formed by deciduous plants and subtropical grasslands. In

the coastal strip there are remains of the old tropical forest, with numerous mangroves. Tropical trees such as mango, orange or banana, and medicinal plants are abundant. El Salvador has national parks that present a variety of flora and fauna; The Montecristo National Park and the El Imposible National Park are the most reknown, but don't overlook the Cerro Verde, and the Nancuchiname, and other natural areas such as the El Jocotal Lagoon or the Los Volcanes Complex. There are more than 125 protected areas throughout the country. Sites to See

Now, when it comes to tourist destinations, El Salvador is among most famous of Central America and I will tell you about the three most famous. The Ruins of San Andrés, a majestic set of ruins are perhaps the most famous and important tourist places of El Salvador. With their archaeological heritage, these captivating ruins are all that remains of an ancient capital of a Mayan lordship that gained supremacy over the other settlements of the valley. Nowadays, only a complex of pyramids and annexed constructions that occupy an area of approximately 20 hectares remain. Among the ruins, it is possible to admire pyramids, stepped platforms, and the ruins of the acropolis and central square, an overwhelming landscape that shows how Hotspots.LGBT | 99

nature has encroached upon the buildings and is dominated by the majestic presence of the Volcano Of San Salvador on the horizon. The second place I want to tell you about is the beautiful and majestic Playa El Tunco. One of the most attractive destinations of El Salvador for lovers of the sea, this beach town is recognized as one of the best in Central America for surfing. El Tunco's most famous point is the Malecรณn bordering the beach. This tourist corridor is a great place to appreciate the sunset on the horizon and taste the traditional dishes of the coastal area as you sample its many restaurants. Just 15 minutes away are the beaches El Tunco and El Sunzal, both famous beaches where the Surfing community congregate. They are also characterized by their bohemian atmosphere, with numerous beach bars, clubs and restaurants. The third and final place I'll tell you about is the impressive El Imposible National Park. Located in the Cordillera of ApanecaIlamatepec, it's the spot in El Salvador that is most popular for nature lovers. It is a tropical mountain forest that harbors the greatest biodiversity of vegetation and animal species that the country offers. Its steep terrain gives rise to a series of trails that ascend through the mountains reaching spectacular natural viewpoints, waterfalls, rivers 100 | Hotspots.LGBT

Within its astonishing biodiversity are at least 1000 species of flora identified, 500 species of butterflies, 282 different bird species, 103 mammals and 53 species of amphibians and reptiles. Many of the species found in El Salvador are threatened or endangered. Check out the cable cars which allow you to appreciate all the beauty.

Delicious Cuisine

El Salvador has a very diverse gastronomy. Enjoy the rich pupusas. These corn tortillas are stuffed with different ingredients. They are the most faithful representative of Salvadoran cuisine. Wash them down with the delicious shuco atoll, a typical drink that would suit you perfectly on a very cold morning or after a night out.

ey Woody! It seems that someone moved the goalposts. When my boyfriend and I first met we agreed to have an open relationship. We’ve been together for over a year now, have grown closer to each other, and moved in, but he wants us to be monogamous. I, on the other hand, don’t want to do that, and don’t think I can ever return to a monogamous state. How do we work it out between us? —Concerned Lover

Dear Concerned: Relationships are not set in stone. They’re set in cottage cheese. If you think boyfriends moving goalposts after a year is a surprise, wait till you’ve been together for a longer time. You’ll be wondering where your boyfriend moved the field. “True monogamy (in nature) is rare,” said Dr. Stephen T. Emlen of Cornell University, an expert on evolutionary behavior in an interview with the New York Times. So if it’s “unnatural” why does society see it as a moral imperative? My own experiences leave me questioning it. I “wandered” in my last long-term relationship. Shame and guilt followed me like shadows after every encounter. Were they the consequences of violating a moral law or a holdover of antiquated thinking? Either way, I was left with an unanswered question: How could I so deeply and

profoundly love my partner and still have sex with other guys? The answer’s obvious if you’re observant. Human beings are capable of experiencing two contradictory feelings at the same time and one does not negate the other. Maybe true love doesn’t prevent you from wanting casual sex. And maybe casual sex doesn’t diminish profound love. There’s not much empirical or anecdotal evidence proving that monogamy is possible or even necessary for a relationship to thrive. Ask any long-term couple the top 5 reasons why they’re still together and none, I mean NONE, will say, “Because he’s sexually faithful to me.” If sexual commitment is so unimportant in keeping couples together, why is fidelity considered so moral? But I digress. You want to know how to make it work. First, know that relationships require constant re-negotiating as people change. It’s the flux and flow of life. You guys are obviously in love with each other for reasons other than sexual fidelity. What are they? Talk about the value systems you share, what you love about each other. From there you can make rules that work for both of you. Maybe you only play when you’re out of town. Maybe you only play when Woody’s in town. Who knows? Make up the rules and stick to them. His change of mind is rooted in emotions, in a fear of loss and abandonment. He’d be more relaxed about monogamy if he sees that nothing will threaten the relationship. The problem is, you’ve got to convince him of that. The only way to figure it out is to talk it out.

he biceps (those perky muscles in the front of the upper arms) are great for showing off and always fun to work because they respond so well to training. For building biceps, the curl is just about the only exercise you can do, and it's all you really need for mounds of upper-arm power. Here's a routine that'll get those biceps bulging in 2017. Perform 3 sets of eight to twelve reps with each exercise.

Standing Dumbbell Curl

The front barbell curl is perfect for taking the biceps through their full range of motion. Stand grasping a barbell or EZ curl bar palms up in front of the thighs. Proceed to curl the bar up until the biceps meet your forearms. Pause, squeeze the positive upper contraction hard, then lower in a slow deliberate manner to starting position to get the benefit of the negative phase of the movement. Stretching between sets during any weight training session will aid recovery and speed growth by bringing extra blood to tired stressed muscle fibers.

Standing dumbbell curls are great for exercising each bicep separately. Stand grasping a dumbbell palm forward in the right hand. Proceed to curl the weight up until biceps meets forearm. Pause, squeeze the contraction, and then slowly lower to starting position. Perform eight to twelve reps, and then switch the weight to the left hand for another set. Don't be surprised if one bicep is stronger or bigger than the other, this exercise will help promote symmetry and allow the weaker muscle to catch up.

Concentration dumbbell curls allow you to isolate each bicep and make it work hard without the help of the other muscle groups. Kneeling on the left knee, grasp a dumbbell palm up in the right hand just off the floor, elbow against the inner right thigh. Proceed to curl the weight up until bicep meets forearm. Squeeze and pause, then lower to starting position slowly. Perform eight to twelve reps, and then switch the weight to the left hand for another set kneeling on the right knee. Isometric presses allow you to stretch, work and pose at the same time! Standing, curl the right arm to a 90-degree angle, then grasp the wrist with the left hand. Press down with the left hand while the right hand pushes up, feeling the biceps contract. Hold for 20 seconds, then release. Perform five repetitions then swap arms.

Biceps are the smallest muscle group of the anterior upper body, so they are naturally going to show results quickly. Always pay attention to form and don't overdo the amount of weight. For more workout tips contact
