On Wednesday March 11, Hotspots Happening Out hosted the “FayWhat?! Hotspots Magazine Cover Reveal Party” at Arts United Gallery. This is the first time in the 41-year history of Hotspots that a non-celebrity woman has been on the cover solo. We couldn’t think of any local icon more deserving than our own FayWhat?! The gallery was packed with Fay’s closest loved ones and friends, and
on a personal note I was so happy to reveal the cover with my sista Tony Lima. Fay is the first, but she certainly wont be the last!!!
On Thursday, March 19, Diana Ross once again sold out and “rocked” the house at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hardrock Hotel and Casino Hollywood. You are always guaranteed to have a good time and leave smiling and happy at a Diana Ross concert!!
On Friday March 20 the Gay Men’s Chorus presented their next concert, “ABBA” at The Parker. This concert sold out 5 weeks prior and was so much fun. When the curtain opened and you saw this gigantic Neon “Abba” sign (which I found out after was sponsored by the Seminole Hardrock...thanks Susan and Erick) and all the 140 something members were wearing this Gold shirt you knew you were in for a good time. In our little circle of friends was Kal, Albie, Michael Murphy, Fay and Jason Nunez…we had a blast!!

Later that night Latinos Salud held their annual gala at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The gala had also sold out a few weeks prior and once again was an amazing event. Congrats to my long-time friends Dr Stephen, Rafaeli and the entire Latinos Salud team!!

With 120 million albums sold, a catalogue of classics like “America,” “Forever in Blue Jeans,” and “Sweet Caroline,” an induction into the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and sold-out concerts around the world that made him bigger than Elvis, Neil Diamond’s story was made to shine on Broadway – and head out on the road across America. Like Jersey Boys and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical before it, “A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical” is an inspiring, exhilarating, energy-filled musical memoir, that tells the untold true story of how America’s greatest hitmaker became a star,
set to the songs that defined his career.

Yet the effect is powerfully life-affirming in the way it reminds audiences of the preciousness of the time we have at hand. Full of quirky humor and social satire on grownup immaturity, the musical features a score by Jeanine Tesori (music) and David Lindsay-Abaire (lyrics) that will leave you both grinning and deeply touched.

The Neil Diamond Musical
Tuesday, April 7 through Sunday April 12
By Scott Holland
Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond himself, “A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical” is the uplifting true story of how a kid from Brooklyn became a chartbusting, show-stopping American rock icon. With 120 million albums sold, a catalogue of classics like "America," "Forever in Blue Jeans" and "Sweet Caroline," an induction into the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and sold-out concerts around the world that made him bigger than Elvis, Neil Diamond's story was made to shine on Broadway and head out on the road across America.
“Some of my most thrilling nights have been while I was on tour, bringing my music to audiences across the world,” said Neil Diamond. “Having A Beautiful Noise go on tour is an honor and I can’t wait for audiences across North America to
experience this show. I hope they enjoy it as much as I have.”
Nick Fradiani plays ‘Neil Diamond –Then’ in the national tour directly from playing the role on Broadway since October 2023. He won the title of “American Idol” in 2015 and has since released his debut album Hurricane in 2016, featuring the hit single “Beautiful Life.” Past My Past, Fradiani’s second solo album, was released in 2022. Producer Ken Davenport said, “Neil is one of the best live entertainers the world has ever seen. In his fifty-year career, he’s performed for millions of fans around the globe. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to honor his legacy than having A Beautiful Noise touring North America, visiting the same cities where he gave so many people so much joy. seriously when I was around 18 or 19.
What was your first professional gig (defined as being paid)?
I believe it was at a bar in Wallingford Ct, and I was about 18 and I only knew 20 songs and I had a 3-hour set so I had to repeat songs.
When did you know entertaining would be your career?
About 25 or so is when I started a band. We had momentum by winning the battle of the bands and we made an album and then we got to open for REO Speedwagon and Styx. That was the first time I sound-checked at an arena and I knew this was it.
What was the American Idol experience like, and do you remember how it felt to hear your name as the winner?
It was a pleasure to sit down with Nick for this exclusive Hotspots interview: At what age did you begin performing and how did it happen?
My father is a musician (he still performs regularly) and that was my whole childhood, but I didn’t take it seriously till I was in college. I took guitar and wrote songs
The idol experience was awesome; it would have been awesome whether I won or not as I got to improve a lot as a musician and work with some of the best musicians in the world.
Winning is a moment when you feel outside of your body. A lot of my family and friends were there, and I get emotional just thinking about it.

Other than this one, what has been your favorite role so far?
I have fallen into 2 roles that were so perfect for me, this one and A Bronx Tale. What’s your fantasy role (a role you haven’t played but would die to play)?
The 2 roles I played were real people and I like studying someone, so I would love to play another real person, for example Bruce Sprinsteen. Other than that, I would love to work on my operatic voice and play the phantom.
Ok, I must tell our readers I saw the show last year and you truly embody Neil Diamond in look and sound. What is your process and how long did it take you to get there?
The process took a bit of time. Before I auditioned, I listened to his music and studied how I would sound as Neil. I also watched a lot of Youtube videos, and watched his mannerism, and I am lucky to have a similar tone to Neil. At this point I have done it for so many years, it’s less of an impersonation, and I more embody it.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Funny, Caring and Hard-working. What do you do for fun?
I love to exercise, and I grew up playing sports, so I love watching and playing sports. I also love to run. I also like to be outside and have a beer and relax. What should our readers expect from this touring company of “A Beautiful Noise”?
I want to first say we are all looking forward to getting back to Forida. I have been involved with this show since day one and the show is at the strongest it’s ever been. We have been on the road for a while, but the excitement is still there. I promise your readers will come out with a big smile on your face.

with Exclusive Hotel Buyout & All Events Moving Forward
GayDays has officially confirmed that the 2026 event will move forward as scheduled, June 4–8, following a brief planning pause earlier this month. Organizers announced a renewed event format designed to deliver a more immersive and community-focused experience, including exclusive use of the entire host hotel.
For 2026, all guest rooms, event spaces, and amenities will be reserved exclusively for GayDays attendees, creating a private environment where the LGBTQ+ community can gather, celebrate, and connect throughout the weekend.
“We took the time to make the right decision for our community and for the future of GayDays,” said Josh Duke, co-owner of GayDays. “This year, the entire property will be dedicated to our guests, creating the immersive, adult-focused experience people have been asking for.”
All official programming will move forward as planned, including:
•Daytime pool parties and social events
•Nightly entertainment and DJ experiences
•The GayDays Vendor Expo and community marketplace
•Mr. GayDays and Miss GayDays Pageants
•VIP experiences and hosted activities
•The Red Room late-night environment
•Specialty entertainment and adult-themed programming
By hosting the entire event within a single, fully dedicated property, organizers say the 2026 format will create a more connected atmosphere and address feedback from previous years.
“Our goal was to bring the community back together under one roof,” said Charles Cantrell, co-owner and event partner. “This structure allows guests to stay where the action is and enjoy a welcoming space created specifically for them. It’s a more focused, more intentional GayDays experience.”
is on bringing people together and making 2026 a strong return.”
Founded in the early 1990s, GayDays is one of the longest-running LGBTQ+ gatherings in Central Florida, welcoming thousands of visitors each year for a weekend of connection, entertainment, and community.
Event details, reservations, and updates are available at: www.GayDays.com
Organizers also confirmed that the longstanding tradition of Red Shirt Day at Walt Disney World on Saturday will continue as part of the GayDays weekend. While GayDays operates independently from Disney, thousands of guests are expected to participate in the tradition of visiting the parks wearing red.
The earlier planning pause allowed organizers time to evaluate options and secure a structure that supports both the guest experience and the long-term stability of the event. “We didn’t want to move forward unless we knew we could deliver the experience our community

MY POEM FOR TRANSGENDER DAY OF VISIBILITY!
The Transgender Anthem & Declaration!
"Transgender family, let us shine bright, and let our light lead through every earthly plight. To our ancestors, the warriors of the past: We stand on the shoulders of legacies that last.
God created each of us in our own unique way, Ensuring the beauty of this planet will never stray. We represent duality, both genders in one. May the world embrace us, until enemies are none.
We are a gift to this earth, though many cannot see, A testament to humanity that it’s okay to just be. Let us keep up the fight for our dignity, like precious stones with the power of the sea.
We trust that one day, all people will be free— In a world built on love and true unity. Transgender family, continue to shine bright, and let our spiritual beauty guide us through the night."
A Metaphor - The Garden of Unity!
"Perhaps we use a beautiful garden as a
metaphor, to see earthly human diversity as God’s perfect score. Think of how pretty a garden is, with its array of flowers— Then just maybe, that can be mankind’s unity bridge tower. Look upon the garden and the diversity there, God’s perfect masterpiece, beyond all compare. If every blossom were exactly the same, The world would be dull and the spirit quite tame. So let us be roses, and lilies, and vines, Where the light of the Creator through everyone shines. Let this floral bridge be the tower we see— The ultimate pillar of our unity."
— Rajee Narinesingh, President of the Board of Directors, TransSocial/Mayfaire Medical, Transgender Activist, Actress, Author, Spiritualist, Show Host (for Queer News Tonight & TransGurus) & Reality TV Personality Rajee

TO SQUAT OR NOT TO SQUAT?
Theres is no question - If there’s one move that separates the man from the boys, it’s the squat. The squat isn’t just an exercise. It’s a statement. You don’t accidentally just build strong legs, lifted glutes, and that athletic presence. You squat for it.
What Is a Squat?
At its core, a squat is a compound movement pattern where you bend at the hips and knees while keeping your chest proud and spine neutral. But that definition doesn’t do it justice.
A proper squat recruits:
• Glutes (the engine)
• Quads (the drivers)
• Hamstrings (the stabilizers)
• Core (the armor)
• Even your upper back (yes, because posture matters)
It’s a full-body power move disguised as a lower-body exercise. And here’s the science part without the boring lecture: multi-joint compound movements like squats stimulate
more muscle fibers and create a higher hormonal response compared to isolation exercises. More muscle recruited = more growth stimulus = more metabolic demand.
Translation? You burn more, build more, and move better.
Why Squats?
Let’s keep it honest. People walk into the gym dreaming about bigger butt, and I completely support that.
But the real magic of squats goes way beyond the mirror. Squats build power you can feel. They make you explosive, grounded, and strong from the inside out. They fortify your knees and hips, wake up your core, and train your body to move like an athlete instead of just posing like one.
They demand effort. They raise your heart rate. They light up more muscle than almost anything else you can do. That means more strength built and more calories burned. Yes, your glutes will grow… But so will your confidence, your posture, and the way you carry yourself when you walk into a room.
Leo Harley
How to Squat?
1.Feet about shoulder-width apart
2.Toes slightly turned out
3.Brace your core like someone’s about to poke your stomach
4.Sit back AND down (not just knees forward)
5.Go as low as your mobility allows while keeping form
6.Drive through your heels and mid-foot to stand tall
Pro tip from me to you: Depth is earned, not forced. Mobility first. Ego later.
When to Use Squats
Squats belong early in your workout when your nervous system is fresh. They demand coordination and power, so treat them with respect.
And yes, tempo squats, pause squats, and power squats all have their place.
The Squat Lineup
Not all squats are created equal, and that is exactly why you should master more than one.
•Back Squat: The strength king. This is where you load up, move serious weight, and build raw lower body power.
•Front Squat: More upright, more core, more quad focus. It forces posture and exposes weaknesses fast.
•Goblet Squat: The form fixer. Perfect for dialing in depth, control, and tension while staying honest with your movement.
•Bulgarian Split Squat: Humbling in the best way. Unilateral work that builds balance, stability, and serious glute detail.
•Sumo Squat: Wider stance, more inner thigh and glute activation, and a different kind of burn.
Each variation challenges your body in a new way, preventing plateaus, correcting imbalances, and keeping your “Hotbodies” progress evolving.
Breathe Like You Lift
If your breathing is sloppy, your squat will
be too.
•Take a deep breath into your belly before you descend, not your chest
•Brace your core like someone is about to punch you
•Hold that tension as you lower to keep your spine stable
•Drive up with control and release the air smoothly at the top
•Reset your breath before the next rep Strong breath equals strong squat. Control the air and you control the weight.
To Clear This Up
“Squats are bad for your knees?” No, Bad squats are bad for your knees. When performed correctly, squats actually strengthen the muscles that protect the knees. The body was designed to squat. Toddlers do it perfectly before we teach them to sit in chairs all day. And if some of you big boys can do it on a bed, you can do it on the gym floor.
The Real Secret
Squats don’t just build legs, they build discipline. Because squats are uncomfortable, they challenge your lungs, your willpower, and your excuses. They expose weaknesses and force adaptation. And that’s why they work.
If you want a Hotbody, you don’t skip the fundamentals…You squat.
Heavy, Controlled, Consistent…Now go earn that walk.
Let me know your results by sharing your story and help me inspire more readers into shaping their HOTBODIES. Get in touch with me at Hotbodies@hotspots.lgbt and/or check out my Instagram.com/the.leonator.

the ‘Scream’ Franchise
The mind behind Ghostface on queer subtext and why ‘Scream’ still resonates with LGBTQ+ audiences 30 years later
By Chris Azzopardi
Kevin Williamson knows fear. He’s been shaping it, scripting it and watching it slice through movie theaters for 30 years. But with “Scream 7,” he’s doing something new: directing it himself. For the first time, he’s revisiting the world he helped create in 1996 — when Neve Campbell introduced the world to the ultimate final girl, Sidney Prescott — and seeing it all through his distinctly queer perspective.
In the new “Scream,” Sidney is finally living the life she fought so hard for, settled into a quiet town far from Woodsboro and the trauma she survived there. But peace, as “Scream” fans know, never lasts. When Ghostface resurfaces, the threat hits closer than ever — with Sidney’s daughter (played by Isabel May) now in the crosshairs.
I sat down with Williamson to talk about why the horror genre spoke to him as a gay kid in North Carolina, bringing openly queer characters like Mindy to life and why the final girl still hits so hard for queer audiences, even decades later.
How did stepping behind the camera for the first time change the way you relate to these characters and the themes you've carried for decades?
I feel like everything has led to this. I always wanted to direct one of these.
Even Wes [Craven, who directed the first four “Scream” movies] was like, “You should direct one of these.” I'm like, “Well, OK.” And then it all sort of never happened and life never materialized for this for me until now. And it seems like this is the time. When Neve called and asked me to direct it, I was like, "Oh yeah,
absolutely. If I'm ever going to direct one, this is the one to direct.”
The Sidney Prescott story, that's the one I think I can tell and that's the one I should be telling. And so, it all sort of worked, it was kismet. When we spoke in 2022, you revealed to me that Billy and Stu were based on real-life queer killers, Leopold and Loeb. That story became one of our most-read pieces ever. I'm wondering why you think audiences are so fascinated by the idea of a romantic or sexual connection between Stu and Billy?
for horror films, which I'm happy to be a part of. And so, when I sat down to write [the first one], it was just my way of expressing myself. It's a little bit of my queer-coding, so to speak.
Beyond just Stu and Billy?
Oh, it's in the characters of everything I write. I'm a gay writer, so there's no escaping it. There's a reason Dawson and Joey [in “Dawson’s Creek,” created and written by Williamson] are named Dawson and Joey.
Would you go as far as saying that Stu or Billy is queer?
When you take a knife and stab someone, that's a very intimate act. And I think if you have two people doing it, there's an intimacy there. And there's a lead and a follower and that creates a relationship. I just think it's a very interesting dynamic. I can understand why it's fascinating. I was fascinated by Leopold and Loeb when I did a school report on them. That's how I knew about them, because I was always sort of obsessed with the macabre and I thought, "What an unusual story of one person wanting to kill and the other one just wanting to do it to make the other one happy." It was just such a bizarre relationship. And I thought, "Well, let's make Billy and Stu bizarre, let's make them crazy." And so, I kind of just went down that road. I thought it was a fascinating journey. When I interviewed Neve, she acknowledged a “burgeoning love relationship” between Billy and Stu. How do you categorize their relationship?
As a queer writer, my love for horror films comes out of being that gay kid in a small town who was always trying to escape his world. So, I really understood the plight of the final girl. I really always connected to Laurie Strode in “Halloween.” I felt like I was always running for my life. I think that's true for a lot of young gay kids, and that's why there's such a subgenre of a gay audience
No, I think it's just queer-coding. I do think there's a love story there in the way that you can make of it what you want. But I do think there's definitely a love story between these two guys, these two killers. And whether it’s platonic or not, that doesn't really matter: They're crazy.
you revisit “Scream” now, what freedoms do you feel that the younger version of you didn't have?
We're in such a different world now. I was much more of a closeted writer back then. I was afraid I couldn't express that part of me, always trying to do a subversion of it. But now the world and society has progressed in such a manner that we have Mindy [played by Jasmin Savoy Brown] at the front. The fact that she's gay is just one more part of the story. It's not a coming out story; it's not focused on that. It just is. And I like that — when characters just are who they are and they're allowed to be who they're meant to be.
Knowing how queer-coded you had to be at the beginning of your career, how does it feel to direct an openly queer character like Mindy?
I loved it. I mean, that was one of the greatest things. I found it so emotional for me as a gay writer, and I was so happy that we have this character now in the franchise. And I was happy that I got to write her this movie. I got to bring voice to her, and so it was exciting. It was an exciting thing for me to be able to write Chad and Mindy. This was my first chance to write those voices.
how do you understand his interior life differently than you did in 1996?
It's so hard because now… well, Stu's dead. He died in the first film. Or did he? I know Matthew Lillard, I know him as a human being. I know what a special, wonderful human being he is. And so that's who I know and Stu is just dead. I know I'm being... I can't answer this.
I imagine this whole press junket is a challenge for you in regard to how much you should and shouldn’t reveal.
Stu who? I was hanging out with Matthew on Saturday night and he goes, "You know what? People keep asking me. I haven't even been confirmed I'm in the movie." I go, "Well, I'm pretty sure the poster's coming out with your name on it."
FFDo you think your own queerness has sharpened your understanding of vulnerability — who's allowed to survive, who isn't and how you see that within the “Scream” franchise?
Well, I mean, by the question alone, I feel like the answer's yes, but it's my DNA. It's who I am as a human. And so, when I sit down to write, I couldn't even begin to tell you what part of it is which and which is where. But I do think it is part of everything I do. It's the best part of me.
In that sense, is there a “Scream” film that has the most “you” in it?
I would say the first two because they were written so close together. The story for “Scream 2” was already developed by the time “Scream” was written. And so, it was one of those things that had been in my head for years, and then it came out in three days on the page, but I had been thinking about it for a much longer time. And I think it was probably the true representation of who I was at that time. And “Dawson’s Creek” was the other one. I think because it was all at the same time, I just got it all out at the same time, all the thoughts that were in your head for so long. Why do you think so many queer viewers see themselves in Sidney?
I think it has to do with the final girl. Certainly, as a gay man, I think we can relate to the final girl. We know what it's like to survive, or sometimes we always feel like we're hiding who we are and we can’t be our true selves and we're always running and hiding and trying to escape from being exposed. I think that's why the horror genre in general lends itself to the coming out story. And she's fierce and she's awesome, and she's everything that we long to be. I mean, I want to be as fierce and badass as Sidney Prescott. And obviously, we have seen her trajectory and the evolution of somebody who has just grown stronger and more fearless. It really resonates.
Neve Campbell has shaped that performance because that's who she is, and so it's like a marriage of actress to role. She's been this character for 30 years and we've watched her all the way through. This is like one more facet of her, seeing her as a mother. If you think about Sidney's childhood, it's not something you want to talk about. It's like, "Oh, mom, what was your first time like?" "Well, it happened on the night that all my friends were murdered." There's not a good backstory there for her to share. And so, it's like, how do you parent when you can't share your true self with them? And it's, what kind of disconnect does that create and can it be overcome? And what happens when Ghostface comes calling?
As much as I want more “Screams” after this one, I also do want Sidney to just rest. She did nothing wrong. She does not deserve this.
[Laughs.] I agree with you. I think she deserves happiness, but what you do see in this film is she has found it.

Do you remember when Joaquin Phoenix dropped out of Todd Haynes’ planned gay romantic drama? And he did it just days before filming was due to begin? Well, the project is back on. Just not with Phoenix. Pedro Pascal has stepped in to save the day. The film, currently called “De Noche,” will now star Pascal and “Top Gun: Maverick” co-star Danny Ramirez as a detective and a school teacher falling in love in 1930s Los Angeles.
a better choice to revive this film for one of America’s most important filmmakers.
Colman Domingo is stepping into Nat King Cole’s ‘Unforgettable’ life
Their unexpected romance becomes complicated when they find themselves targets in the midst of a moment of political corruption and terror, having to leave for Mexico to save their own lives.
Written by Haynes and longtime creative collaborator Jon Raymond, it’s already feeling like Haynes’ “Carol,” a period drama with significant implications for this cultural and political moment. As for Pascal — who, with his somewhat ambiguous sexuality, has more queer cred than confirmed hetero Phoenix — we can’t think of
You may recall the announcement that “Sing Sing” and “Rustin” star, the Academy Award-nominated Colman Domingo, was due to direct a film, “Scandalous,” about the clandestine romance that occurred between Sammy Davis Jr. and “Vertigo” star Kim Novak in the 1960s.
Well, Domingo’s still attached to that one. But meanwhile, he’s also now attached to star in, produce, co-write, and possibly direct a movie about legendary singer Nat King Cole. The film is currently known as “Unforgettable” and will follow the iconic vocalist through his period of greatest fame, mid-century
America during the time of the Civil Rights Movement, when he experienced both acclaim from white audiences and discrimination all at once. Right now, the project is being shopped around for international sales and seems to have more studio support, the way traditional biopics often do. Now the question is: Which film will be Domingo’s directorial debut? Wait to find out.
‘The Best Summer’ was the one with Bikini Kill, obviously.
Filmmaker Tamra Davis (“Billy Madison”) evacuated her home during the 2024 Los Angeles area wildfires and took a box of documentary footage with her. Inside that long-in-storage container were videotapes she made in 1995 at the Australian music festival Summersault, which became “The Best Summer,” a concert film/documentary that recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. It’s a time capsule and treasure trove, especially for ’90s queer kids who grew up on “Sassy” magazine, whose musical coming-of-age involved Riot Grrrl bands like Bikini Kill and whose rock divas were the Kims — Gordon and Deal — and their respective bands Sonic Youth and The Amps. Those three bands are front and center here, alongside indie superstars Pavement and Rancid, and A-listers like Beastie Boys and Beck. A big hit at the final Park City, Utah iteration of the festival, the exuberant doc, packed
with backstage access, frankly, has no choice but to find an arthouse/streaming home in the coming year. Dig out your best “My So-Called Life”-era outfit for the moment it finally hits a screen near you.
‘The Rocky Horror’ show has a cast and it’s a good one
Broadway loves a crowd-pleaser, so here comes one that’s extra queer. This spring’s limited run of a revival of “The Rocky Horror Show,” an enduring favorite if there ever was one, has a wow-factor of a cast lined up, including queer actors Luke Evans, Stephanie Hsu (“Everything Everywhere All At Once”), Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (“Pose”) and “What We Do In The
Shadows” star Harvey Guillén, alongside power players like “SNL” legend Rachel Dratch, Juliette Lewis, Josh Rivera (“West Side Story”) and Tony Award-nominated stage stars Andrew Durand and Amber Gray. Helmed by “Oh, Mary” director Sam Pinkleton, The Roundabout Theatre Company has the show set for Studio 54 previews beginning March 26, an official opening of April 22 and a closing date of June 21. Every few years there should just be one of these revivals so that new audiences get to feel the freak of it all. Anyway, you don’t have much time-to-Time Warp, so get those tickets now.
