LINX Events LINX98 Preview LINX will again be staging its August member conference at the Manchester Central Convention Complex. It is the second time the city has held the summer meeting, following a previous visit in 2014. The venue will be well known to many having been used regularly by UKNOF attendees as well the IXManchester 8 meeting in April. The agenda for LINX98 has plenty to engage delegates. In addition to LINX’s usual mix of organisational and regulatory content there will be a presentation on SDN by Simon Woodhead and a session on General Data Protection Regulation by Andrew Cormack. We also have a special guest speaker in Philip Smith (pictured right) who will give two talks, one on IXPs in Asia and in developing countries and another on the early days of LINX. LINX99 EGM & LINX100 Venues
The final member conference of the year will also be our final meeting at the Congress Centre in London. LINX99 will be held on 20th and 21st November but from February we’ll hosting our quarterly meetings at a new venue in the Victoria area of the city. Further details will be published across our social media platforms shortly.

LINX97 Round Up Feedback tells us that delegates like to hear about the experiences of exchanges in other regions and at LINX97 in May we had two European IXPs in attendance. Speaking on behalf of NIX.CZ from the Czech Republic was Zbyněk Pospíchal who gave an interesting talk on the new generation of DDoS mitigation. We also welcomed Béla Bödecs & Attila Miszori of BIX, the Budapest Internet Exchange who covered their history from inception in 1995 to the present day.
