About Horus ACADEMY “BEYOND THE BOUNDARIES”

HORUS Academy is dedicated and focused

The dictionary defines mentoring as advising or training, but to HORUS, mentoring means so much more. Only through true dedication and support can we create a foundation on which to build a sustainable and thriving business.

That’s why we developed the HORUS Academy— Beyond the Boundaries program, which offers incubator space to support our mentor relationships.

Mentee companies receive office space and access to conference rooms and HORUS team members who provide administrative, financial, estimating, and marketing support.

Use of the incubator facilities is free for the first six months and a progressive sliding scale cost for the second six months, which helps prepare them to afford a stand-alone facility.

“BEYOND THE BOUNDARIES” Specifically, the charitable purpose of THE HORUS ACADEMY, INC. is to address the issue of community deterioration by utilizing strategic corporate partnerships and utilize economic development/construction opportunities to provide training, mentoring, and job placement programs/opportunities for youth, adults, and veterans to address business development, educational/training opportunities and health disparities.

OUR PROGRAMS HORUS Academy is committed to fostering innovation through inclusive programs designed to cater to diverse segments of the community. Their initiatives extend to youth, adults, minorities, veterans, and beyond, ensuring accessibility for everyone. These programs not only facilitate personal growth and exploration of various opportunities but also provide valuable benefits and resources to support individuals in their pursuits.

With a focus on serving lowerincome residents or struggling neighborhoods, HA is involved in a variety of activities including redevelopment, education, job training as well as commercial and residential real estate development.

HORUS Academy provides skills training and mentoring opportunities to out-of-school and unemployed residents of underserved communities. The programs provide technical and vocational training, mentoring, allowance employment opportunities.

Youth Training & Mentoring Construction program HORUS Academy provides skills training and mentoring opportunities to out-ofschool and unemployed youth. The programs provide technical and vocational training and participants receive additional benefits such as free mentoring, allowance, and potential future employment.

Contractor Development (MCD) Program HORUS Academy provides one-on-one training and workshops to minority men, women and veteran contractors about business and leadership skills needed to compete in the construction industry.

Small Business Pitch Competition is an exciting opportunity for small businesses to showcase their innovative ideas, products, and services. This program aims to support entrepreneurship and provide a platform for small business owners to gain visibility, network with industry professionals, and secure potential funding or partnerships. Participants will have the chance to present their business pitches to a panel of judges and compete for valuable prizes.

Construction Academy Advisory Commitee The objective of the High School Construction Trades Academy Advisory Committee is to provide guidance and support to the Construction Trades Academy program offered by the high school. The committee's primary goal is to enhance the overall effectiveness and relevance of the academy, ensuring it aligns with industry standards and meets the needs of students interested in pursuing careers in the construction trades.

Our Mission is to educate high school students about their college and trade options with a unique focus on helping them and their families navigate how to finance their chosen options.

71% of students and parents reported that they learned something new about financial aid, government programs, and private scholarships.

Our fairs deliver results as scholarships are awarded to numerous qualified students.

We invest in people The HORUS mission is to maximize business performance and professional potential by genuinely investing in people and fostering a culture of inclusiveness and equitable business practices that help individuals and business reach their full potential.

The objective of the HORUS Academy ongoing outreach is multi-tiered. First, we are redefining mentor protege relationships. Our team is fully committed to our HORUS Academy apprenticeship program, which combines paid employment, supervised on the job training, and specialized instruction to enhance participant’s career options and opportunities. Our on going Project Workforce Development helps us stay connected to our community and create local economic stability and sustainability. Our program is devoted to tapping into the local market to infuse workforce opportunities that highlight leadership opportunities for women and traditionally marginalized communities.

We also offer a second chance program to previously incarcerated individuals, providing apprenticeships and on-the-job training opportunities. Over 90% of the HORUS Construction workforce is in the state of Florida, and 100% of the HORUS team makes over the average livable wage!

Jonathan Graham has taken a small, local, family-owned construction business and built it into a thriving, industryleading construction and general contracting business serving multiple regions throughout the United States.

Simultaneously, he has transferred his business skills to help HORUS Academy secure the resources and funding needed to significantly expand its reach.

Jonathan's success in growing his construction business can be attributed to his strong leadership, strategic vision, and dedication to providing high-quality services to his clients. He has assembled a talented team of professionals who share his commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. Under his guidance, the company has completed numerous projects ranging from small renovations to large-scale commercial developments.

In addition to his achievements in the business world, Jonathan has also made a significant impact in the nonprofit sector. As a board member of HORUS Academy, he has used his business acumen to help the organization secure the necessary resources to expand its programs and reach more students. His dedication to education and community development is a testament to his character and values.

Lena Graham-Morris HORUS ACADEMY PRESIDENT

“THE POSSIBILITIES ARE BOUNDLESS” Lena has decades of experience working as a community organizer, mentor, and entrepreneur and is committed to building possibilities for individuals in all fields as well as mentoring the next generation of female entrepreneurs. As a first-generation college graduate and entrepreneur, she brings a skill set of knowledge and experience that helps others achieve their dreams.

Throughout her career, Lena has focused on empowering underrepresented individuals and communities through her work. She has worked tirelessly to create opportunities for those who have been historically marginalized and disadvantaged and has been a vocal advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of life.

In addition to her work as a community organizer and mentor, Lena is also an accomplished entrepreneur. She has started several successful businesses and has used her knowledge to help educate and create, more opprtunities for others. She believes that by working together and supporting one another, we can create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Mentoring is a continuous process.

dr. laura dorsey EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR- HORUS SCHOLARS

HORUS Scholars provides students with access to formal and informal education resources, which allows them to grow personally and professionally, ultimately creating a better society that is impacted by the education received.

Dr. Dorsey has been a university professor and administrator for more than 20 years. Her passion was teaching college orientation courses that helped students lay the groundwork and develop habits for a successful college career.

Dr. Dorsey brings over three decades of education and university experience to HORUS Scholars. She has worked as a faculty member as well as an academic support leader, helping thousands of students navigate their college education and college life. Recently, she has been working with non-profit organizations helping students and families understand and secure financial aid and scholarships.

With her extensive experience, Dr. Dorsey is an invaluable asset to the HORUS Scholars team.

She is passionate about ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, have access to higher education. Her work with nonprofit organizations has allowed her to further her mission of providing students with the resources they need to succeed. Through her efforts, Dr. Dorsey has helped countless students achieve their dreams of attending college and pursuing their desired career paths.

At HORUS Scholars, she is committed to continuing this important work and making a difference in the lives of even more students.

At HORUS Scholars,(a signature program of HORUS Academy) we build futures.
