Barnsby Leather With over two hundred years’ experience it is not surprising Barnsby knows more than a little about leather and is expert in sourcing the finest materials for its products. Hides of different thicknesses, colours and prints ensure every item of saddlery is made from the most appropriate leather.

Likewise, various densities of foam are necessary to ensure comfort for the rider’s seat whilst achieving cost effectiveness. A dressage rider has different requirements to a show jumper.

Flocking, too, depends on the specific end use, so Barnsby use natural wool flock to ensure sufficient feel for the rider without compromising the performance of the horse.

Barnsby Heritage It would be difficult, if not impossible, to find a saddlery company with more knowledge and experience than Barnsby. Based in Walsall, the centre of the English Saddlery Industry, Barnsby have been making top quality saddles and bridles for over 200 years In 1793 George Cliff the father of the company’s founder Jabez Cliff commenced his apprenticeship in the saddlery trade in Walsall. Saddles Every Barnsby saddle is handmade in Walsall, England, by some of the most skilled craftsmen in the country. Each saddle is a labour of love and made with only the finest materials.

Quality leathers, pure wool flock and high-grade foams are carefully measured, cut and stitched, then painstakingly assembled on precision-made trees. Some saddles in the range take as long as four working days to complete, despite the use of modern leather-cutting presses, state-of-the-art sewing machines and the most technologically advanced tree-making shop.

Every Barnsby saddle is subjected to the most stringent quality control throughout its manufacture and is checked by one of the management team before being allowed to leave the premises.

The Theoden is designed for the modern smaller, more powerfully built dressage horse which has a broad frame, thick spinal processes and increasingly more shape to its back. The tree has reverse points and a very open front arch that fits perfectly on a dressage horse that is more well built over the shoulder. The

tree also has more natural curve in the side rails which allows optimum fit on a dressage horse that is croup high. It is available with or without front gussets and extra rear gussets for balance and comes as standard with a blocked over knee pad and double foam cushion deep dressage seat.

The Kanter+ is designed to fit the broader flatter backed dressage horse but without a prominent wither. The saddle tree has wider and flatter side rails that allows the saddle to sit low and close to the horses back. The panels are designed to offer a

close contact fit whilst the seat and block offer an excellent dressage seat. The Kanter+ comes as standard with a super soft Dunlopillo deep dressage seat and humane dee Y girthing with point strap off web.
