Sonata No 4 in E flat major K282 ‘Cosi’ Sonata No 13 in B flat major K333 ‘Linz’ Sonata No 1 in C major K279 Sonata No 14 in C minor K457 ‘Tragic’ Sonata No 9 in D major K311 ‘Hunt’ In a project exclusive to Perth the great British pianist Peter Donohoe performs all of Mozart’s piano sonatas over four concerts. They offer a journey through Mozart’s amazing musical development and range from the utterly charming to the heart-rendingly emotional. Peter Donohoe has added his own epithets to the pieces which highlight their character.

Viktoria Postnikova in Recital Sun 28 Oct: 3pm

Schumann Kinderszenen Schumann Kreisleriana Schubert Impromptus Op 90 & 142 A fantastic debut for Perth Piano Sundays. One of the great musicians of the last 30 years Viktoria Postnikova performs worldwide in all major halls and concert series. She is an extraordinary pianist whose performances of great music by Schumann and Schubert will light up Perth Concert Hall. Schumann was a huge admirer of the music of Schubert and the pairing of the two will offer a remarkable insight into the piano music of the early 19th century.

It is an honour to welcome a legendary musician back to Perth Concert Hall. As well as offering a feast of wonderful pianism Richard Goode’s concerts offer deep spiritual experiences. His performances are acclaimed for both their brilliance and their sincerity. Sonata No 15 in F major K533 ‘Music Box’ Sonata No 3 in B flat major K281 ‘Amoroso’ Sonata No 7 in C major K309 Sonata No 18 in D major ‘Hunt’ Peter Donohoe is one of the outstanding pianists of the last 30 years.

Isata Kanneh-Mason Sun 14 Apr: 3pm Chopin Barber

24 Preludes Piano Sonata

The oldest member of the extraordinary Kanneh-Mason family Isata is a brilliant pianist in her own right. She was in the Piano Category Final of the BBC Young Musician 2014, winning the Walter Todds Bursary for the most promising musician before the Grand Final and since then has been forging a substantial solo career with recent performances at King’s Place in London at the Bath Festival. Her programme contrasts Chopin’s exhilarating etudes with Barber’s remarkable piano sonata.

Premiered by Horowitz the piece is a pianistic showpiece but also contains more reflective sections which underline Barber’s status as perhaps the greatest American Composer of the last century.

Peter Donohoe Mozart Piano Sonata Cycle IV Sun 28 Apr: 3pm

Sonata No 12 in F major K332 Sonata No 5 in G major K283 Sonata in C major K545 ‘Sonata Semplice’ Sonata No 11 in A major K331 ‘Turkish’ The end of the journey! The fourth and final concert in Peter Donohoe’s Mozart cycle will bring with it a sense of joy and fulfilment. This music is full of zest for life tinged with the pathos and wistfulness which makes Mozart perhaps the best loved composer of all.
