UNIFORM LIST
September 2024

School Uniform
Our school uniform supplier is Perry Uniform. Please note that following our change of suppliers a few years ago which necessitated a few changes, the uniform in this booklet is now compulsorily, with the exception of the Summer dresses; the John Lewis dresses can be worn until July 2025.
The HHS PTA holds a sale of second hand uniform each term, dates of which will be published on the school website.
There are separate uniform lists for the Lower School, (Reception to Year 2) and the Upper School, (Years 3 to 6).

All items of uniform must be clearly named with sewn-on or ironed-on name tapes, not just pen on a clothes label. Shoes, football boots and other items such as pencil cases and water bottles should also be clearly named. Perry Uniform offer a naming service for your convenience.

Uniform
At the start of the Autumn Term, the children can come to school in either all summer or all winter uniform, but not a mixture of the two. Winter uniform becomes compulsory at the end of September, the date for which will be confirmed in our calendar.
Depending upon the start date of the term, in the Summer Term children may wear either all winter or all summer uniform until the May Bank holiday, following which summer uniform is compulsory.
Blazer
Upper School only. The blazer is worn as the Summer outerwear for the Upper School and is also worn on outings and for concerts etc. The blazer is not part of the Lower School uniform.
Upper School Sports/Outerwear top
The sports top is compulsory and is worn for games and for coming to and from school with the winter uniform. The optional coat with full zip or the kagoul may be worn to and from school but not for games.
Art Overalls
All children require an overall for art and DT. Please ensure that it is clearly named. The overall should be brought to school on the first day of term. Children who do not have overalls will not be allowed to paint.
Bookbags & Rucksacks
Lower School - A HHS book-bag will be provided on joining the school.
Upper School - Children in the Upper School need a school rucksack, purchased from Perry Uniform.
Hair
Children with long hair must tie it back with a navy blue hair tie or navy hairband.
Stationery - Pencil Cases
Lower School - All pencils, colouring pencils and other essential equipment are provided.
Upper School - Children will need a named pencil case with pencils, pen, rigid 30cm ruler, glue stick, etc.
Pen Licences - When children are presented with a pen licence, they will be given one Pilot Frixion Fineliner Handwriter pens. Please then keep your child’s pencil case stocked with one thereafter.
Lost Property
Please label ALL items. Uniform, including shoes, trainers, towels and swimwear, must be clearly marked with your child’s first name and surname, preferably with sewn-in name tapes. Pencil cases, waterbottles, swimming kit and any scooter helmets must also be clearly named.
Perry Uniform offer a name tape sewing service. For further details please see their website.
There is a basket containing lost property in the entrance to the Nightingale Building.
Jewellery
Jewellery may not be worn except for watches, studs for pierced ears or jewellery relating to specific religious beliefs. Smart watches may not be brought to school.
Swimming
Costumes and towels should be brought to school on those days in the new style HHS swimming bag. All boys and girls must wear goggles and an HHS swimming cap. Please ensure that the bag, costume, hat, goggles and towel are all clearly named and note that earrings may not be worn whilst swimming or at Games.
Swimming/Outings Bag
This is required for all children. The new swimming/outings bag from Perry is a much improved design.
Please ensure that your child has their appropriate games kit in school on their games day or when due to play any matches. We will not call home for forgotten kit unless your child is due to play in a match.
Changing for PE/Games in the Lower School
Whilst encouraging independence and developing important organisational skills are at the heart of our curriculum in the Early Years and Lower School, the busy nature of the Reception class timetable means that the children will stay dressed in their P.E kits all day when physical education is timetabled. In Years 1 & 2, children are encouraged to change back into their uniform after either their P.E or Games session and this will be communicated by the class teacher at the beginning of the year when you are provided with the class timetable and noted on the Parent Portal. On swimming days, the children will wear their uniform and we would prefer that they do not come to school wearing swimming costumes underneath their clothing.
Sports Kit
Football and Rugby Boots
Football and rugby boots, required from Year 2 upwards, must have moulded studs, suitable for playing on both grass and astroturf pitches.
Upper School children will need their football boots for their PE sessions which are held offsite, as well as for their Games day.
Mouthguards
All Upper School children will need mouthguards. In the Autumn Term we arrange for a company to visit to fit mouthguards on 12th September. Further details will be sent to you.
Cricket
Cricket whites, (trousers) are not required for Years 3 & 4. White or cream cricket jumpers are optional.
Please do not bring hardball cricket kit in to school unless specifically requested by the Sports Department for matches.
Upper School Games Kit
Please note that the fleece and old waterproof top are no longer part of the Upper School uniform. From September 2024, the new Sports/outerwear top and the new mid-layer top will be compulsory for Upper School children.
Football Boots
Please find details below of the types of football boots suitable for our 3G TigerTurf pitch.
