SPAIN

GERMANY

Spain is a land of contrasts. The Moors conquered it in the 8th century establishing a civilisation where Christian, Moorish and Jewish cultures blended and lived harmoniously side by side. Repossessed by the Christian Kings in 1492, it became the dynamic force of the development of Europe. Then, during the 16th and 17th centuries (El Siglo De Oro) Spain's culture, power and influence spread all over the western world.

Through the centuries, from Emperor Charlemagne to the fall of the Berlin wall, Germany has exerted an influence on the making and on the development of the nations of Europe in one way or another.

Nowadays, with "la movida" Madrid is undergoing a unique cultural renewal. Barcelona displays its architectural modernity and the charm of its medieval district. Cordoba invites its visitors to discover its fabulous historic riches. Salamanca is one of the most harmoniously beautiful and animated towns of the realm. Spain can be at the same time mythical and striking, hieratic and tender, boisterous and mystical, austere and fascinating.

Germany is today Europe's main economic power. It also is a country where towns and nature are entwined , where big cities quickly give way to romantic villages which are testimonies of its rich culture and history. Germany also is a land of outstanding natural beauty with the majestic Bavarian Alps, the Rhine valley castles, the deep Black Forest, the windswept North Sea coast. Wherever one goes in Germany, one has the assurance of discovering a country of bold, striking and satisfying contrasts.

During the week, Monday to Friday, the students are boarders (accommodation in small dorms) and actively participate to the social and academic life of the school. Week-ends and mid-term school breaks are spent with a local volunteer host family.

RELEVANT TO ALL ACADEMIC PROGRAMS - Each student is under the attentive care and supervision of our local representative who will initiate regular contact with both student and host family. - Enrolment in a specific class is at the discretion of the school headmaster only. - Attendance to all the lessons is mandatory and academic achievement will be expected. - Should a student’s level of proficiency in the foreign language be considered too low, a language crash course of one or several weeks will be offered. Cost not included in the price of the program. - School days generally are noticeably longer in France than in other countries, ...but so are mid-term breaks.
