Burt is a 3-year-old gelding we purchased as a weanling from the DeCock family in Hysham. He was very easy to start and has been super willing about everything. He has been ridden at the feedlot this winter and spring. We have calved on him; he’s seen a lot of miles and been taken to brandings. Tilda is a home raised mare with a great amount of eye appeal, conformation and presence! She stands 15hh and will weigh 1,000lbs. She has a great foundation and 100% of her start has been handled by our family. Tilda has been used for day-to-day ranch work, gathering cattle, sorting in an alley, and dragging calves to the fire. Moose is a 2019 grey quarter pony, but don’t let his size fool you as he will go all day long with an adult or kid and we have proven it over and over again. He is super broke and super friendly as he will meet you at the gate to get caught. Moose is easy to be around, good to shoe, and handle. He has done everything under the moon on the ranch (our go to horse and the #1 horse our family fights over to grab to do any ranch work from doctoring calves, to roping bulls or cows, to branding.) He has never bucked or done any silliness with us. He is a solid heel horse and started in the breakaway. Moose was used all summer at youth rodeos from flags, goats, key hole, and steer daubing. He also has been down to Las Vegas in years past to help handle the livestock for the National Finals Rodeo and rode in the contestant grand entry for all 10 rounds carrying around the Montana flag. He is super athletic and we think his calling as a youth/Jr High/High School rodeo horse especially if a kid wants to start calf roping. Baldy is a big pretty sorrel with chrome all over him and a flaxin mane and tail. He is a super fun horse to ride. He has been used in the feedlot and on the ranch. Baldy has a good mind and a pretty way of moving. He has been breakaway roped on and barrel raced some. I have been team roping on him lately and he is great in the arena and outside. Quarter Pony Mare that we have owned for 3 years. Smooth traveler with no quit. She will keep up with the big horses all day and ride off by herself with no issues. Big enough for an adult but small enough for kids to get on and go. She has gathered cows, crossed the Tongue River, been used in the branding pen, roped on outside and in the arena. She is a little green in the arena but good in the box and will run to cattle. No bite or kick and we ran her with our geldings and haven’t had any issues. Easy to trim and has good solid feet. I haven’t ever shoed her. You do have to run her into the corrals to catch her. She doesn’t buck, just gets a little cold backed. The kids and I have hauled and used this little mare on multiple ranches here in SE Montana. She has been a great little horse for my kids. Affectionally known as “Big Country” this dark palomino gelding turns heads everywhere he goes. He is as gentle as the day is long and he knows a full days work. He’s been used in the big country of the Big Horn Basin, doctored cattle outside, loaded cows in the trailer, drug calves to the fire, sorted calves, loaded the tub and pushed calves into the back of the pot on shipping day. There isn’t much this young horse hasn’t seen or done, and he stays gentle and quiet through it all. He’s the first one to meet you at the gate in the morning, stands to shoe, rides by himself, loads and loves attention. Big Country has the potential to go anywhere and his whole life ahead of him. Blue is a big, good-looking gelding. He is a tough, go all day kind of horse with a nice walk. An enjoyable horse to ride, very athletic and cowy. We purchased Blue as a weanling from Don and Sheila Nelson, and over the past few years he has become Jake’s go-to horse. Blue has been used in all aspects of ranch work, from dragging calves to the fire, to roping big cattle outside. And from sorting in the alley, to sitting the gate and peeling off cows in the branding pen. As well as sorting and pairing out outside. Recently, he has begun tracking a dummy and roping slow cattle in the arena. He has the ability and breeding to make an outstanding rope horse. Despite being a powerful horse, my wife and boys have all enjoyed riding him. He gets along well with other horses and is easy to trim and shoe. Blue is the horse for getting any job done, well.
