VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES IN HORDEN
Volunteers are vital to the services supporting communities. Volunteering is a rewarding way to spend your spare time, a great way to meet new people and an opportunity to develop new skills. It is a great step towards going back to work, building confidence, and becoming a part of your community. There are several volunteering opportunities in Horden to suit everyone, no matter how much time you can give and whatever your experience.

A MEAM volunteer will play a vital role in supporting the community navigator support work in Horden Together. As a MEAM volunteer you would be helping people in your community to get well and live independent lives, providing vital support that they otherwise might not receive. Environmental Volunteer

We want to empower everyone to collect litter in their area safely and effectively, create a better environment on their doorstep and inspire change within the community. An Environmental Volunteer will take part in pre-agreed community litter-picks, contribute to community garden and allotment projects and inform the Horden Together Team of fly-tipping and other site issues. MEAM CO-PRODUCTION VOLUNTEER
Horden Together Project, Horden Horden Together Partnership understand that it is vital to listen, and be responsive, to the voices of people with lived experience in the design, delivery and review of systems.
As a MEAM Co-production Volunteer you will form part of a group of people with relevant lived experience of mental ill health, homelessness, substance abuse or alcohol, who are gathered to share ideas, experience, or feedback through conversation. Local Dog Walker

Walk dog(s) at scheduled times approved by dog owner, collect dog(s) from their homes and return them at agreed time, take all necessary precautions to ensure the dog(s) and those around them are safe and dispose of dog waste in a responsible manner. Nextdoor Nature

Residents can lead, support or volunteer on community-based nature restoration projects through Nextdoor Nature. Anybody interested should contact Tom Parkin tparkin@durhamwt. co.uk or 0191 584 3112. Tom is always looking for new project ideas and community champions to support with their own ideas.
Durham Wildlife Trust operate their own volunteer system, which anyone can join, there is a wide variety of opportunities open to all residents of Horden. This would be through an application process found at volunteer.durhamwt.com
FOOTBALL COACHES, COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND MATCH DAY KITCHEN AND GATE ATTENDANTS
Horden Community Welfare Football Club
HCWFC are always on the look-out for match-day volunteers to help such as stewards, helping on the gate, helping with keeping ground tidy, general support etc. HCWFC are also on the lookout for football coach volunteers to assist with the Junior Academy - especially qualified FA Level 1 or above (must be DBS checked).
