CONNECTIONS CAFÉ
East Durham Trust have been working in partnership with South Durham Health CIC to deliver a range of accessible activities in Wheatley Hill, Blackhall and Peterlee. Peterlee’s ‘Connections Café’ is held in the Arts Café at Community House on Yoden Road and offers a relaxed space where anyone can drop in, have a cuppa and take part in social activities. These include board games, gardening and arts and crafts. Funded by County Durham Community Foundation these free sessions focus on people’s wellbeing and builds on the successful ‘Warm Welcome’ activity delivered over the autumn and winter. Residents from across Peterlee have been attending and have really enjoyed the opportunity to get out of the house and spend time with others. One person said “I would be lost without it. I live alone and there is nothing else to do in my area” another shared that “Companionship and friendliness” is what they value the most. The ‘Connections Café’ is open on a Wednesday morning from 10am till 12pm. It is free to access and anyone can drop in at any time.
