As I sit down to pen this message, my heart is filled with a mix of emotions; gratitude, pride and an overwhelming sense of belonging. Our club stands as a beacon in society, thanks to its simplicity, warmth and the indomitable spirit of our members. Looking ahead, we remain committed to nurturing a space where every member feels empowered to chase their dreams and make a difference As we move forward, let us carry the lessons learned, the friendships forged, and the successes achieved, always striving for excellence in all we do in future years. In closing, I am reminded of a valuable lesson learned within these walls: regardless of age, if there is a will, there is a way. Let us keep this sprit alive as we move on.

The first term as the Treasurer was really challenging Maintaining the financial sustainability of the club, new and existing member renewals, bookkeeping, reactivating and taking the responsibility of the club’s bank account were my major challenges. With the ideas and support of my dearest members, I could overcome those challenges one by one. The challenge remaining in front of me is to maintain a strong club fund and handover it to the next executive members before my term ends. With the help of the most precious treasure of the Horana Toastmasters family, I will be able to overcome this challenge too.

As the SAA the choosing and preparation of the meeting venue for each club meeting and beginning the meeting proceedings are the most abundant in my duties. Looking back to when I first began, I have noticeably improved in my duties as the sergeant at arms and as a speaker. All my achievements as a toastmaster would not have been possible without the support of a wonderful and supportive team behind my back. As the club that brought upon new connections and knowledge, I wish the Horana Toastmasters Club all the best.

Dear audience, imagine of a situation where you head to your Toastmasters meeting after a tough day at work. As you walk through the door, you're greeted with smiles and a genuine sense of camaraderie. These are people who share your aspirations and understand your struggles. The stress of the day begins to dissipate as you connect with friends who listen and encourage you This kind of support is invaluable and offers a practical way to alleviate stress in your daily life

Stress often originates from a negative mindset or self-doubt.

Toastmasters empower you to cultivate a positive leadership mindset.

As a leader, you encounter a major setback in your project. The weight of the situation can lead to self-doubt and stress But your Toastmasters experience has taught you to focus on solutions rather than dwelling on problems. This positive mindset, developed through your journey, becomes your stress cushion, allowing you to address challenges with a can-do attitude, reducing stress, and inspiring your team to do the same

In conclusion, Toastmasters International is not just a public speaking club; it's your realworld stress relief solution. Through practical public speaking experience, constructive feedback, a supportive community, continuous learning, and a positive mindset, Toastmasters equips you to confront and conquer stress where it matters most - in your daily life.

The end of this Toastmaster year is only a few months away. Division E has progressed in many ways. I am privileged, honoured and delighted to be the Division Director of this wonderful Division for 2023/2024. Our first three priorities for Division E were to have a healthy retention and growth

rate of membership, ensure quality club meetings, and achieve DCP goals. Together, we have done it and will continue to do so. I have no words to express my gratitude to all the awesome and supportive leaders and members of this exceptional, excellent and enchanting Division comprising diverse and interesting clubs. You did ordinary things in an extraordinary way and made impossible things possible I thank each and every one of you, from the bottom of my heart, for the trust you have placed in myself and the unconditional support extended.

The Toastmasters movement provides us with many challenges that test us, strengthen us, sharpen our capabilities, and provide opportunities to apply our skills and to showcase them, boosting our confidence and self-worth. It provides us with courage, determination, self-confidence and the ability to survive in a challenging environment while progressing and having fun. Let us continue to be servant leaders and always rise to the core values of Toastmasters: integrity, respect, service and excellence. Let us continue to lead with humility and serve with compassion for the betterment of this esteemed movement.

As Harold Taylor said, “The roots of true achievement lie in the will to become the best that you can become.” Let us together continue to do our utmost to ensure club quality, have a healthy membership number and achieve DCP goals, making this year a stupendous one for Division E and District 82.

Dear Audience,

“ A fresh start always ends with a beautiful ending! ”

Yes, You are correct! We changed the theme of our newsletter this term. The root story for this theme is quite interesting. Accidently, we went through a discussion after our club meeting about bees seeing the beautiful flower beds around our meeting place. Lots of facts were shared which motivated us to investigate more above the world of bees.

We educated our selves to an expert level thanks to interesting facts mentioned in https://bestbees.com/2023/02/08/135-bee-facts/

This newsletter is a tribute to the most helpful insect in the world to the humankind, thehoneybee .

Welcome you all to the World of Bees.

The topics of the articles reflect the words which are used in the world of bees. We humbly advise you to go through the above link first and go through the newsletter secondly for better understanding.

The Term I newsletter was a successful newsletter where we got the privilege to appear in the District 82 PR page as one of the top newsletters for the term in 2023/24.

This newsletter is a hard work throughout four months being busy with our schedules. Bees in the newsletter were hand-made using PowerPoint shapes. I thank PowerPoint University YouTube channel for the guidance throughout this year in flyers. Moreover, I extend my heart-felt gratitude to Executive Committee, PR Team, members and guests for their unveiling support. We are grateful for your humble comments and encouraging words. Reach us via our social media to share your valuable ideas on our newsletter

That speechcraft was conducted by Smedley Toastmasters Club and the Lead Trainer was DTM Trishma Pinto, whom I consider as “the godmother” of my Toastmasters chapter.

What is First Aid?

It is the emergency care or treatment that can be given to an ill or injured person until full or regular treatment is available.

What Should a First Aid Box at Home Contain?

It is important to have a first aid kit at home or workplace. It is something that will help to provide immediate care to an injured person at home, especially when kids are around There are many things that may be considered necessary for a first aid box and it can be argued as needed to be there. However, lets focus on getting a simply first aid box that can cater to all. Firstly, we need a first aid box / container / carrier. This is where all the equipment are stored and it should be easily accessible too Equipment to have in the box, Plasters! These have to be there of various sizes and shapes to cater for the necessities that can arise

AlcoholFreeWipes! These are necessary to clean wounds that can have debris in them and it helps to make the area around the wound clean, even if there isn’t any debris which can subsequently help with better adhesion of a plaster or tape to the skin

BetadineCream/Ointment

This is very helpful to sterilize and clean a wound. It can be used in only the required amounts to clean out a wound. Do keep in mind that it is very smarting when applied onto a wound.

DisposableSterile Gloves

Tweezers

GauzeDressings InallSizes

There’s many more that can make it into the first aid box which is dependent on your place and types of accidents that have occurred.

Roots of Toastmasters journey

Most of the times we are lost on thinking about our future or regretting the past.

Those two basically do not exist and we basically have no control over. It is all about living in the present moment an enjoying it to the fullest

❖ Focusing completely on the present moment is very important By doing that the life becomes so simple. Live in present

❖ Even when it comes to speaking just enjoy the moment. What many do is thinking what others may think, what the audience is thinking and in that process you get lost Do not do that

❖ When you are on the stage, just enjoy Embrace the attention. Embrace the opportunity to address the large gathering. By doing that you will be able to tackle the many of the challenges.

I Started Toastmasters journey in 2015. I got to know about Toastmasters Club through my sister. I wanted to venture into speaking as a hobby.

I have really enjoyed joining the Horana Toastmasters Club. My first-time speaking was a bit scary, but everyone was supportive and gave me good advice. The meetings are fun, and I've learned a lot, feeling more confident than ever before Joining was a great decision for me.

Even though it have been short time since we have become good friends, I have met few members from Horana Toastmasters Club and always had good impression on them.

When talking about Public Relations of Horana Toastmasters Club I am so happy to say that their Public Relations strategies are really good and they never fail to create breath taking wonderful flyers with new concepts. Keep up the great work Horana TMC Kuddos !!

As a new guest of Horana Toastmasters club, I felt so welcomed in this friendly, engaging and very supportive environment for a beginner in the English public speaking arena. For me, even the slightest fear of making mistakes and getting embarrassed during speeches which I dealt with so hard in the past has faded away with the help of senior Toastmasters and fellow guests. By listening to speeches done by experienced speakers and their evaluations in my recent 3 sessions as a guest I learned some technical skills of public speaking in areas such as maintaining proper eye contact, body postures ,hand gestures and highlighting important parts in my speech

And also I was exposed to a new level of social skills within this environment ranging from a proper handshake to starting a conversation with a complete stranger.

As a guest I highly recommend Horana Toastmasters club for all the enthusiastic people who are interested in public speaking.
