BEHIND THE ART

As an avid art collector and owner of The Peanut Gallery, a gallery specializing in mid-century modern & contemporary art in Summit, NJ, I started selling Hunt Slonem's art in 2016 and immediately recognized the wide-ranging appeal of his work. His paintings put a smile on people’s faces and are beautiful, colorful, whimsical works of art that showcase Hunt’s evocative and fanciful world of birds, bunnies, butterflies, and even portraits of Abraham Lincoln (Hunt’s Marilyn Monroe!).

Hunt is best-known as a painter, but is also a sculptor, a collector, an author, and a historic preservationist and a conservationist. Hunt’s work can be found in the most respected museums such as the Guggenheim, Smithsonian American Art Museum, the National Gallery of Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, top galleries, and is widely represented in important private collections all over the world. His work has attracted many well-known athletes and Hollywood art collectors such as Kris Jenner, Ayesha & Steph Curry, J. Lo, Brooke Shields, and Kate Hudson to name a few.

I set out to make Hunt’s art more accessible to more people and provide another way to bring his art into people’s lives. We collaborated on what the Hop Up Shop would showcase -- a well-edited collection of home accessories, gift and apparel items made by the finest mills and manufacturers all over the world.

Hunt’s famous bunnies, butterflies, birds and more all magically come to life on items such as dinnerware, serving pieces, table & bed linens, placemats, cashmere throws & velvet blankets, lacquer boxes, hand-embroidered silk decorative pillows as well as cashmere sweaters, tote bags, beauty bags, hats, scarves and more.

Hunt’s art and his life is forever inspired by his connection to the spiritual and natural worlds, his travels and his passion for color. This collection is a way for him to share his art with home design enthusiasts, art lovers and collectors alike bringing his art to life in new mediums.
