Last year, your gifts provided so much care to people in need! With that in mind, we are excited to see what new things we can accomplish together in 2024.
Our vision for Hope Dental Clinic in 2024 is to provide more dental care to underserved communities than ever before. We believe that with your help we can achieve this goal.
As you dive into this report, you will read stories of Hope restored in 2023. You will also learn about new innovative plans we are launching to accomplish our mission: more outreach, new partners, and teledentistry. Our goal is to continue to ask “who and where are the people most in need and how can we reach them to provide the care they need.”
Thank you for an amazing 2023, and thank you for joining our vision for 2024. Let us celebrate together all that is happening as we continue to partner in the future.
Hope is on the move,
For more than 50 years, Hope Dental Clinic has restored hope, joy, and overall health for uninsured, low-income adults and children. We accomplish this through:
Dental emergencies happen. We provide those in crises the help they need to get rid of infection, relieve pain and address any other issues without worrying about the cost.
From exams to cleanings, sealants to fillings, we strive to provide the best possible service to our patients, giving them a reason to smile again.
Hope takes seriously our role in providing education for good oral hygiene and dental care. Because there is still a large disparity in overall health care, our goal is to actively bring about public awareness and close that gap for those who are in need.
Our clinic is also a training center for pre-dental and dental students, giving them real world hands-on experience. Students are mentored and lead by our volunteer Dentists and U of M Dental school faculty giving them the training they need to succeed.
You play a crucial role in providing dental care and oral hygiene services for everyone who comes to us for help and hope.
In FY23, thanks to your support, Hope:
Conducted

90% of our patients have incomes below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Our patients come from across the Twin Cities, suburbs, Minnesota, and Western Wisconsin. They are all of our neighbors.
Janette first came to Hope Dental Clinic in tears and she was terrified.
“I had not been to the dentist in 40 years. As a little girl my mother would have to bring my aunties or uncles along to the dentist appointments, they had to literally hold me down, because I was so afraid. Throughout out the years my teeth progressively got worse and worse. My self-esteem was extremely low, and I ended up living like a hermit.”
In January 2023, Janette could no longer endure the pain. She made an appointment at Hope Dental Clinic and her daughter made sure that she kept her promise.
Janette had four teeth removed and several cavaties repaired. For the missing teeth Hope was even able to help her with a new set of dentures.
“Before I had a lot of pain and used to think I looked like a monster....No more, I have a new smile, and I don’t look like a monster and the best part is; no more pain.”
Janette is excited to report that her self esteem is at 100% for the first time ever!
She is so grateful to all the surgeons, dentists, donors and staff who helped her in her time of need. Her message to you is “Never stop helping others.”
Thanks to you, Janette has her smile and life back, and as she says: “I’m back in the saddle, look out world here I come.”

Dr. Margaret Baudino has been volunteering at Hope Dental Clinic since she was in dental school over ten years ago. It was then that she learned how great the need is in our community for affordable dental care, and she’s been coming back ever since.
“These
are our neighbors
and
a
dental crisis could happen to anyone. At Hope Dental Clinic we can change that. It is so important to give back because the need is so great.”
Our patients experience hope because of the support from our donors, and volunteers. Those who share their gifts and experience with our patients gain more than they give.
Dr. Baudino has experienced that first hand. She shared with us that she finds working here incredibly rewarding. She has been able to see how Hope Dental Clinic has grown and improved over the years and enjoys bringing her friends with her to volunteer to make it fun for everyone. If not for our over three hundred volunteers we would not be able to provide the sheer amount
of care we can provide today. Our volunteers, along with our donors, are the heartbeat of this organization.
When you volunteer with Hope Dental Clinic you are bringing essential care to underserved communities.
Thank you so much for providing hope for so many in need!

In our efforts to reach more people and more vulnerable groups, Hope is launching new initiatives in 2024. Scan the QR codes to watch vidoes about each initiative.
We are building community partnerships with organizations like MAC-V, who are working to end homelessness among Vets, to provide the free oral health care they need. We owe it to our Veterans to take care of them and the connection between oral health and overall health is critical.
We are working with several low-income housing units and senior citizen organizations to provide them with remote dentistry for oral exams and follow up at the clinic. We will also be working to educate seniors and those caring for seniors, on the importance of good oral health and preventative measures.
Three times a year, we host our Give Kids a Smile events. Families can bring their children for free exams, cleanings, and follow-up procedures, as needed. We are also able to teach these children and their families good oral health care.
With the use of Teledentistry, Hope will be able to leverage our resources to provide basic dental services on-site at community locations. By completing the screening and assessment process remotely, Hope can more accurately match patients’ needs to available providers when referring them to the clinic. This will allow us to help more people.
Reaching the most vulnerable
Hope Dental Clinic will impact the long-term oral health of hundreds of children and youth in 2024. We will accomplish this through satellite and in-clinic events and new partnerships with organizations like Face to Face and Bridge for Youth. We will also continue to reach out across the Twin Cities and throughout Minnesota and Western Wisconsin where there are the highest disparities for more outreach and impact opportunities.
Hope loves partnering with business leaders in our community to make an impact on the work we get to do.
Gifford Financial has partnered financially, as well as hosting events to raise funds for Hope Dental Clinic.
“I love what Hope Dental Clinic is doing. My philosophy is to use our strengths to their maximum impact. While I don’t have the ability to fix teeth, give someone a smile, or make the pain go away, I can communicate with and support those that can. Everyone doesn’t need to give financial resources, some can donate their skill, expertise, and talents. If we partner together, we can make an impact in the lives of so many.”
Thank you Gifford Financial for your ongoing support to dental healthcare in our community.
