Following on from last week’s highly successful sponsored walk it is my pleasure to let you know who our winning group was. We are still in the process of counting the money raised and will announce the learning group who raised the most once this has been completed. I am pleased to inform you that this year’s winning group was 8CPE. We found that they had really bonded well as team and managed to bring cohesiveness as well as individuality to their vintage military theme. Well done Mrs Perella. It was a very close call as so many groups had done such a wonderful job. Thank you to you all. Other favourites and close contenders were the Cohort 11 boys in their Marvel superhero onesies; the star wars group of Miss Golding and the group of girls all dressed as their mum. All our learners and staff really embraced the theme of heroes. Thank you to you all for your support. I had the pleasure of attending some assemblies this week delivered by Mr Matt Ager. He was talking about the theme of perspective and through the use of a series of optical illusions was able to draw upon a range of issues to do with understanding self, managing one’s own behaviour and being empathic to others. The material was highly thought provoking and reminded me that whether staff or learner any situation must be looked at through a range of perspectives not just our own. I hope you will be fully aware of the changes to the school day this Thursday for our open evening. I have just looked at the list of volunteers and it looks to be pretty much the whole school. I would like to thank you all for your support. If you are ferrying your children back and forth so that they may act as guides, we are very grateful. An open evening can sometimes be viewed as a

bit of a game; trying to showcase the school from a certain perspective. The fact that we have so many learners acting as ambassadors gives me confidence that visitors to our school will be able to have an authentic view of what the school is about from the perspective of those that matter most: the learners. I would also like to ask for your collective feedback to allow us to focus our priorities over the next year. You will recall that your feedback last term helped to inform some of the decisions we have already made. We would like to develop this further by creating regular opportunities to provide feedback so that we can evaluate the impact we are having and to ensure that standards remain where they should be. We have created a simple online form to allow us to measure responses across a range of areas. The form can be found at the following link: http://bit.ly/ParentSurveySept2018
