COMMUNICATION AND RESPECTING OTHERS With the Easter Break commencing today in this week’s Gazette I’d like to highlight one of our core values; Respect. Respect is a belief that underpins so many of our great world religions. It saddens me however, that of late I have had to deal with upset colleagues due to the lack of respect shown to them by a small minority of parents/carers. Our receptionist and office staff are some of the most polite, kind and caring individuals you will ever meet. For them to be shown such a lack of respect from angry parents expressing frustrations in an inappropriate way isn’t acceptable. Whilst I appreciate you may be frustrated, as is human nature from time to time, please consider carefully the tone as parents/ carers that you undertake when contacting the school. Should you have any concerns please voice these constructively as we do wish to work with all our families and try to resolve matters that may cause you or your child/children upset. We are a partnership and need to work together in our collective goal of ensuring all our learners leave us as both happy and successful individuals ready for the wider world.
ELECTRONIC CAR PARK BARRIERS From Tuesday 19th April the new electronic car park barriers that have recently been installed at both the front and rear school car parks will be in full working action. This will mean that there will be no access to these car parks for learner drop off or pick ups between the hours of 8.15am - 3.45pm. We need to ensure site safety for all our learners and staff and this safeguarding measure will ensure this. We realise this will mean that parents/carers may need to park in the surrounding roads to the school and ask that you are kindly mindful of the local residents and their access points to their properties when doing so. The school site access point off Gurton Road (bus turning circle) is permitted for known and registered school transport companies only.
Parents’ time is available daily in which no appointment is necessary. A member of the school’s leadership team will be available at these times to discuss any matters with you in person.
SCHOOL GATES Another area of site where we will introduce a change is the entrance to the bus turning circle off Gurton Road. This entrance is not officially designed to be a pedestrian thoroughfare but has been historically used as such - direct field access made it a handy shortcut. The perimeter fencing has enabled us to get more control over egress from the site, however, the risk of children being knocked over has not gone away. Whilst not connected to the boundary of the site, there was a recent incident where a learner was hit by a vehicle in the village. It would be remiss of us not to ensure that we are doing all we can to minimise such risks from happening again. Therefore we will be asking learners to all egress from the main pedestrian gates located at the front of school at the end of the
Should you have a pre booked appointment with the school we have visitor spaces reserved and available in the main car park. Please use the intercom to buzz through to the main school reception and access will be granted accordingly. Thank you for your support in this matter.
