With her daughter, grandsons, and other close family and friends at her side, Glenda Faye Keith passed peacefully at Wright Memorial Hospital at the beautiful age of 88 at 5:14 p.m., June 14, 2023 to joyfully greet her Jesus on the other side of Jordan.

Mrs. Glenda Keith, the youngest of three children, was born on August 18, 1934, to Ralph Ramer and Edith Pearl Speck Wooderson. Residing West of Spickard in Grundy County, siblings Margaret Dolyn Wooderson Neely and Charles Ramer Wooderson completed Ralph and Pearl’s immediate family.

In 1935, her family moved into the small town of Spickard, where her father quickly opened a blacksmith shop and garage. Glenda Faye began her twelve years of schooling in the Spickard R-II School District, graduating from Spickard High School in May of 1952. Glenda Faye loved all things musical, participating in school operas, plays, and other musical programs. Glenda Faye was a talented soprano carrying that vocal gift with her well into her adult life, blessing her church’s musical ministry with her gift.

As a young child, Glenda Faye began attending the Spickard United Methodist Church and on Easter Sunday in 1949, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized.

On June 23, 1952, Glenda Faye married the love of her life, Dale M. Keith (AKA “Smiley”).

Glenda Faye and Dale wed at the Grace Methodist Church in St. Louis, with Glenda Faye’s sister and brother-in-law, Dolyn Wooderson Neely and Jim Neely witnessing their nuptials. The Keiths were blessed to enjoy and celebrate 50+ years of marriage prior to Dale’s passing on April 22, 2003.

Glenda Faye and Dale moved to Des Moines, IA after they wed and lived there for 18 months while Dale was employed in the State of Iowa by the Rock Island Railroad. Glenda Faye was employed at Bankers Life Insurance

Glenda Faye Wooderson Keith

Company as a secretarial stenographer until the Rock Island transferred Dale back to Missouri. Residing in Spickard, only briefly upon their return to the Show-Me State, Glenda Faye and Dale eventually made Trenton their permanent home. After moving to Trenton, Glenda Faye was employed in the office of Goffe & Carkener Brokerage Company, a grain commodity and stock brokerage company.

Glenda Faye and Dale were entrepreneurial spirits. While both of them held formal jobs, they stepped out in faith multiple times to pursue business ventures that included: livestock farming on their 160-acre farm located Northeast of Trenton; co-owners of the Spickard Grain Elevator until 1985 when Dale assumed a position with the Katy Railroad in Colbert, OK; co-owners of The Bargain Spot in Trenton which specialized in new and used furniture and appliances. After selling the furniture and appliance store, the Keiths were gate attendants at the Mark Twain Lake, serving the Corp of Engineers and the Ray Behren Campground in Perry for three years.

After nearly 20 years of marriage, Glenda Faye and Dale welcomed the light of their life! Monica Lynn Burchett was born on February 3, 1971, and at 16 days old, came to their home to forever be their little girl. Glenda Faye cherished her time with Monica Lynn, fun-filled packed times on the ballfield and at the farm. Glenda Faye was a devoted grandmother, welcoming into their family Monica Lynn’s three sons: Twins, Carson Dale Burchett and Dalton Keith Burchett were born on August 17, 2001 and Cody Rex Burchett born on July 1, 1985. Moments spent with her grandsons were truly divine time!

Glenda Faye was a member of the Tenth Street Baptist Church. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, receiving her 50 Year Membership Pin in 1999. She was a powerful advocate and committed worker of the Celebrate Recovery Program, sponsored by her

church and that was dedicated to changing lives for Christ! She also served as a Sunday School teacher and active contributor with the church’s youth Sunday School and music ministries. Though her health failed, she continued to serve the Lord in other ways, that included daily devoted prayer; being a regular daily caller to the KTTN birthday and anniversary call in program, always quick to enthusiastically remind others to “enjoy their day and count their blessings”. She remained a warrior for Christ to the end!

Glenda Faye was an avid fan of Branson’s Daniel O’Donnell, an Irish folk singer, rarely missing the weekly show on the RFD Channel as well as all her Christian Broadcasting Station Programming. She loved her nieces and nephews and cherished all her special times shared with them in her home and at the farm down through her life.

Glenda Faye will be forever remembered by all who knew her as a patriot of her country and for her unwavering love of family and friends, and most of all, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Glenda Faye is survived by her daughter, Monica Lynn Burchett of Trenton. In addition, Glenda Faye is survived by three grandsons: Carson Dale Burchett and wife, Olivia; Dalton Keith Burchett; and Cody Rex Burchett all of Trenton.

Glenda Faye is also survived by sisters-in-law, Bonnie Gumm of Trenton and Bonita Keith of Coffeyville, KS; nephews, Kevin Neely of St. Louis, Sammy Lynch and wife, Paula of Trenton and Tommy Lynch and wife,

Jamesport FFA Chapter Partners with “Agriculture Education on the Move”

Jamesport FFA Chapter recently partnered with Agriculture Education on the Move™ (AEOTM) to help educate third-grade students this year at TriCounty R-7 Elementary about the agriculture in their lives.

AEOTM, a program of Missouri Farmers Care Foundation (MFCF), is an educational program that brings agricultural-based knowledge to elementary classrooms statewide.

Through this 10-week ag literacy program elementary students learned about crops, livestock, soil and water conservation, nu-

trition and careers from passionate, trained FFA educators. These FFA student leaders presented agricultural topics through engaging activities and lessons while developing their speaking and leadership skills.

“We believe by working together we can achieve more,” said AEOTM Program Director Heather Fletcher. “We work with commodity checkoff groups and agricultural organizations to bring quality resources to the classroom in a way that engages students. Working with FFA chapters allows high school

students to gain valuable experience as educators while reaching youth in their communities.”

Twenty-five third-grade students at Tri-County R-7 Elementary received STEM-focused lessons, along with coordinating hands-on activities which involved making bread, butter, corn plastic, soybean necklaces, feed rations, soil profiles and more. These firsthand experiences provided a fun and interactive way of learning while meeting classroom curriculum objectives. Third graders got to meet Missouri farm fam-

ilies and learned about the dedication, compassion, sacrifice and work ethic necessary to maintain a farm.

“The entire community benefits from Agriculture Education on the Move as local third graders experience the thrill of germinating seeds, understanding the basics of how their food is produced and seeing, many for the first time, the agriculture all around

them,” said Ashley McCarty, MFC executive director. “We appreciate the efforts of FFA student leaders spending time sharing their knowledge and passion of agriculture with younger students in their community.”

The free Ag Education on the Move Coloring Fun App can extend learning for elementary students through the summer months. The app gives youth an opportunity to virtually explore their connection to the food they eat, fuel they use, and fiber they as they color their way through the farm.

Page Tree Service

The app is available on Google Play, Apple App Store and Amazon Appstore at https://www.agmoves.com/aeotmapp. Free, downloadable partner resources are available at www.agmoves.com/resources to provide additional summer fun and learning.

The AEOTM program is funded through Missouri Farmers Care, a coalition of more than 40 Missouri agriculture groups, including support from Missouri soybean farmers and their checkoff and the MFA Oil Foundation.

Beets and Tomatoes are Topic of Program at Grand River Garden Club Meeting Held June 19

Loretta Ray spoke to members of the Grand River Garden Club June 19 about raising and canning beets and tomatoes. She told members, besides planting in the spring, one can plant a fall crop usually between the first and mid August. Her favorite seed variety is Detroit Red, which she buys locally.

She pulls beets at the same time regardless of size, then preserves by canning. She offered members her favorite recipe for canning after opening a jar of beets for everyone to taste.

Mrs. Ray says she al-

ways plants some Celebrity tomatoes because that variety seldom fails to produce a crop. She also plants a few heirloom varieties such as Brandywine, Golden Jubilee and Cherokee Purple.

She also mentioned a hybrid Scarlett Red as a good tomato, as well as Jet Star, German Giant, Goliath and Mountain Fresh. She prefers indetermine varieties as they set on all season rather than one crop determine varieties. She also advised always rotating the tomato plantings in the garden due to disease.

Justin Reeter and three of his sons, Carson, Kyrian, Caden, and a friend, Willie Bunnell, attended Resound Fest in Bethany on June 9-10. This free festival took place at Miracle Hills Ranch, a Christian campus that offers many different types of retreats year-round. As well as the music and worship, camping, canoeing, paddle boating, swimming and other activities are available.

Dan and Carol Wilford attended the Southern Baptist Convention and a portion of the Pastor’s Conference, which was held at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on June 12-14. On Tuesday, they went to a luncheon provided for the Bivocational Pastors and enjoyed listening to and singing along with the Christian bluegrass band, Chosen Road. They stayed at the Old No. 77 Hotel and Chandlery and attached restaurant Compére Lapin (translated ‘Brother Rabbit’) on Tchoupitoulas Street, which is three blocks from the French Quarter. The hotel was built in 1854 as a coffee house, then later became a candle factory. Colorful artwork is displayed on the original exposed brick walls. While in New Orleans, the Wilford’s were also able to do some sightseeing at Jackson Square, eating the famous pastry beignets at the Café du Monde, and watching an impromptu jazz parade. There were over 19,000 attendees at the convention, which made it really amazing that Andrew Bertram, Associate Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Trenton, saw the Wilford’s and came over to visit awhile.

ident, presided in the absence of the president. Members discussed planting tulip bulbs in the fall at the courthouse statue sometime in mid October.

Karalyn Thompson read the secretary's report,

which Dorothy Taul made a motion to accept. It was seconded by Doris Provorse and passed.

Mrs. Hoppe reported the June yard of the month awards were given to Bob and Linda Peoples and the

business honored was the Grundy County Health Dept. at 1716 Lincoln St.

Ms. Taul reported sending several cards this month. Laura Ewing gave the treasurer's report.

Members attending in-

cluded Bonna Dittberner, Ms. Taul, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Ewing, Mrs. Hoppe, Marilyn Bain and Doris Provorse. Guests in addition to Mrs. Ray included Nancy Donohue and Delores Kuttler.

At NCMC, Josh lived on campus, played baseball for the Pirates baseball team, and was a student tutor at the Tutoring Center. Josh was also selected as the Associate in Science Academic Excellence Winner for 2023. Josh's favorite class was Calculus with Instructor Tracy Welch. Josh said, "I really like math; I find it easier than other classes, and I like problem-solving, and I enjoyed the class."

Josh went on to say, "I chose NCMC because I didn't know what I wanted to do yet, and I wanted to play baseball. At NCMC, I took physics and really enjoyed it, and I found engineering might be a good fit for me. There are a lot of great people at NCMC, and I enjoyed being able to take my gen eds while figuring out what I wanted to do. It's a really good school."

R-9 Exchange Student Tells of Experience in Spain

Sophia Currie presented the program to members of the Trenton Rotary Club during the club meeting on Thursday, June 15 at the BTC Bank community room. Jackie Soptic presided at the meeting, Joe MacDonald gave the prayer and Brian Upton was the sergeant at arms. Mrs. Soptic also introduced the program.

Sophia, who will be a junior at Trenton High School this fall, spent the past year in Spain as an exchange student through the Rotary Exchange program. She lived for a year with families in Catalunya, which is an automonous community of Spain and is located

on the east edge of the country. Catalunya has its own language, with Spanish actually being the area’s second language. Sophia said that in addition to attending school there, she was able to visit many places and take part in various activities, including “carnival” in Sidges and a religious walk in Camino deSantiago. She was also able to spend time with the family of exchange student Carlotta Gonzalvez, who stayed in Trenton while Sophia was in Spain. Sophia also shared several mementos she brought back with her as well as a gift from her host club that was given to the Trenton

club. She was accompanied to the meeting by her parents, Josh and Amy Currie. Amy is a former exchange student to Mexico and was sponsored by the Trenton club. During the business meeting, the club presented a $605 check to the Bright Futures Trenton shoes project. The money was collected as part of the club’s participation in the Rotary District Shoes for Orphan Souls program. Terri Critten and Adrianne Todd accepted the donation on behalf of Bright Futures. Also announced was the 50th anniversary celebration for ServeLink on July 7 and the customer appreciation event at
