East Buchanan boys place 2nd in the KCI

Lathrop, Plattsburg athletes win events

With 15 individual finishes in the top three on Saturday, the East Buchanan Bulldogs track and field team nearly sneaked past an old nemesis to win the KCI Conference Track and Field Championship.

The Bulldogs scored 159 team points at the conference meet on Lathrop High School’s Leroy Sater Memorial Track on Saturday, April 29 – just half of a point behind the KCI champion West Platte Bluejays (159 points). East Buchanan won individual conference titles in seven different events.

Meanwhile, on the girls side, East Buchanan earned 91.5 points to place fourth in a tough field. Lawson won the girls conference championship with 191.5 points.

Seth Spencer and Trevor Klein each won a pair of KCI titles for the East Buchanan boys on Saturday. Spencer won both the 110M hurdles (16.15 seconds) and 300M hurdles (43.11 seconds), while Klein was first in both the long jump (6.08 meters) and triple jump (12.22 meters).
