LATHROP City signs off on a new siren

The City of Lathrop will soon have a fourth storm siren covering the town, with its newest addition landing on the southwest side near Lathrop Elementary.

The Lathrop City Council approved a $25,000 bid for a new electronic siren from L&B Electronics during its regular monthly meeting in April. The municipality has received a Hazard Mitigation grant that will cover 90 percent of the costs.

The solar-powered siren will be located southwest of Lathrop Elementary near the former railroad tracks. The town has three other sirens in its system.
