Irene A. Harren
Irene A. Harren, age 88 of Freeport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at her home in Freeport, Minnesota. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Dan Walz officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery. There will be no public visitation prior to the Mass. A beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend and colleague, Irene was born on May 4, 1933 in Elrosa, Minnesota to Bernard and Anna (Boecker) Herickhoff, the second of eleven children. Irene grew up in rural Elrosa on her parent's farm. After graduation from Belgrade High School in 1950, Irene worked for an exclusive men's clothing store as a bookkeeper in Sauk Centre and Moorhead, Minnesota. Irene and Ed were married on July 5, 1955 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. She was employed as a billing and payment clerk for Otter Tail Power Company in Morris. When the family began to arrive, she became a stay home mother. In 1964, the couple moved to Ed's family farm at rural Freeport where she became bookkeeper for the farm accounts. She was a member of the Christian Mothers of the St. Francis parish, rural Freeport, and served as treasurer. She taught Faith Formation for about 30 years, both in the parish setting and for her grandchildren in their homes. She raised a garden every summer, did a lot of canning, sewing, mending, and did sewing alterations of bridal gowns and bridesmaid's dresses. She also belonged to the St. Mary's neighborhood quilting group. She raised her seven children to appreciate the farm and their faith. She and Ed traveled to many states throughout the United States, but her favorite trips were the ten trips they made to Germany to visit with her German relatives. In her retirement, she did research on and compiled family tree books for the Herickhoff and Boecker families as well as the Harren and Rausch families and helped with the Gerads family. She loved knowing the heritage of these families and passed this on to other family members. Survivors include her husband, Ed Harren of Freeport; children, Juleen (Ray) Scegura of Holdingford, John (Lois) Harren of Freeport, Barry (Colleen) Harren of Freeport, Gregg (Nancy) Harren of Eagle Bend, David (Kathy) Harren of Eagle Bend, Michael (Shelly) Harren of Holdingford, and James (Cheryl) Harren of Freeport; 23 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marlene Herickhoff, Rita Walz, Dr. Bob (Pam) Herickhoff, Charles Herickhoff, James (Ruth) Herickhoff, Norma (Joe) Moening, Marie (Ken) Bezdicek, Mark (Donna) Herickhoff, Bernie (Linda) Herickhoff, Henry (Vicky) Herickhoff, Regina Hoeschen, Rita Schiller, Conrad Harren, and Eugene (Connie) Harren. Irene was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Harren; granddaughter, Mary; parents, Ben and Anna Herickhoff; in-laws, John and Elizabeth Harren, siblings, Harold and Lawrence Herickhoff, Harold Walz, Alfons & Lizzy Plate, Maggie (Harren Kraemer) Faber, Arnie Hoeschen, Harlan Schiller, Jeanette (Harren) and Sylvester Stueve, Larry and Betty Harren, and Carol Harren Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral and Cremation Services of Freeport.

Delores Farrow, 92-year-old resident of Grey Eagle died October 19 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 30 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Father Ron Dockendorf officiating. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the service on Saturday, October 30 at the church. Delores Rosella Marty was born on September 19, 1929 in Todd County, Minnesota to the late Joseph and Edna (McDermond) Marty. She grew up and attended school in Todd County. She was united in marriage to Russell A. Farrow on July 2, 1946 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. The couple lived in Burtrum later moving to St. Paul, where they resided for 20 years. Delores worked a variety of jobs while living in St. Paul. The couple moved back to Burtrum, and Delores worked for Stearns Manufacturing as a seamstress for many years. She enjoyed sewing, baking, reading, playing cards, gardening, flowers and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Diane (Bob) Giefer of Pine River, Phyllis (Richard) Nellessen of Cottage Grove, Curt (Alice) Farrow of Rockford, Daniel (Pamela) of Burtrum, Kim (Bill) Pohlman of Burtrum; sister, Marlys Kircher; 15 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren. Dorothy W. Lembeck, age 88 of Spring Hill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at her home in Spring Hill, Minnesota. A private graveside service will be held at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Spring Hill. D o r o t h y Wi l h e l m i n a Marthaler was born July 22, 1933 in Grove Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Alphonse and Dorothy (Imdieke) Marthaler. She was united in marriage to Allen Lembeck on November 22, 1956 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove. The couple farmed all their lives near Spring Hill. Dorothy was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill and the Christian Women. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzels, and taking an occasional trip to the casino. Survivors include her children, Kathy Flanders of Foley, Alabama, Gary (Lori) Lembeck of St. Cloud, Steve Lembeck of Spring Hill, Mary (Greg) Braun of Cold Spring, Jackie Dahl of Spring Hill, and Lisa (Gary) Bertram of Greenwald; 13 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren with one on the way; brother, Melvin Marthaler of Cold Spring; and sisters, Clarine Stalboerger of Meire Grove and Janice (Will) Kalstrom of St. Cloud. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Lembeck on November 25, 2004; parents; brother, Denis Marthaler; and sister, Lavina Walz. Delores Soltis
Delores Soltis, 89 year old resident of Bowlus, MN died Thursday, October 21 at Little Falls Health Services in Little Falls. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 26 at at the Community Country Church in Holdingford, MN with Rev. Gregg Valentine officiating. The burial was held in the South Elmdale Cemetery. Delores Jeanette Bjerke was born September 26, 1932 in Baker, ND to the late Edwin and Alma (Remmen) Bjerke. She grew up and attended school in Churchs Ferry, ND until the 9th grade. She met the love of her life, Dale in North Dakota while he was there working there on local farms. The couple was united in marriage on November 3, 1951 at South Elmdale Church, Holdingford. The couple made their home in rural Morrison County. They were blessed with five children, Scott, Randy, Rick, Darcy and LeAnn. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking and horse riding. She was a faithful member of the Community Country Church and was a member of the Ladies’ Missionary Society. Left to cherish her memory are her children, LeAnn Waddell of Rockford, Scott (Audrey) Soltis of Bowlus, Randy (Patricia) Soltis of St. Cloud, Rick (Lisa) Soltis of Bowlus and Darcy (Robyn) Soltis of Bowlus; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Bonnie (Ivan) Aabrekke of Minnewaukan, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Alma Bjerke; husband, Dale Soltis; two infant sons; two brothers, Orville and Gordon and a son-in-law, Steve Waddell. James “Jim” Krych
The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of James “Jim” Krych, age 70, of Holdingford, was held Tuesday, October 26, at the Church of All Saints, St. Hedwig in Holdingford. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Jim went to his eternal home on Friday, October 22, at the CentraCare Hospital in St. Cloud, with his wife and children at his bedside. Arrangements are made by the MillerCarlin Funeral Homes. Born to Edmund and Rita (Pintok) Krych on January 27, 1951, Jim lived in Holdingford, MN, his entire life. Jim married his wonderful wife, Jan, on October 9, 1976. Jim and Jan had two children, Joshua Krych and Sarah (Krych) Heidelberger. They were blessed as their family grew with their daughter-in-law Lori (Joshua) and son-in-law Reed (Sarah), along with grandchildren Lily, Jonah, Gianna, Margaret, and Benedict Heidelberger; and Jack, Cole, Andrew, and Lewis Krych; and grandchildren heavenside--Natalie and Grace. Jim graduated college from University of Minnesota, Crookston, where he enjoyed working on a farm for work study. Through the years, he worked at Avon Plastics, Kraft Foods West Plant in Melrose, Adolph Oil Company, and Gerads Oil Company until his early retirement. He was an active member of his St. Hedwig Church community over his lifetime, Knights of Columbus, Saturday Morning Men's Group, Eucharistic adoration committee, and an active lector at Mass. He loved spending time with his wife of 45 years, family, and friends. Jim was a devoted daily Mass attendee and he was known for his lengthy conversations and hearty laugh. Faith and family were his life focus and as he lived, so he died. He will be greatly missed by anyone who ever had the gift of a lively conversation and relationship with him. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, Joseph, Jerome, Jan, Jeff, and countless friends he made along his life journey.
Robert Charles Lyng Sr.
Robert Charles Lyng Sr. “Bob”, age 92 of Eagan, Minnesota, passed away October 21, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 5 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Becky Thomas officiating. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday at the church. Bob was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and met Carone, the love of his life, at a church function. Together they served their church in many capacities throughout their lives. Bob earned a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Cloud State, taught high school for 6 years, and then worked in the insurance industry until his retirement in 1984, receiving his CLU in 1967. Bob had a beautiful singing voice. He frequently soloed for his fellow parishioners and took every opportunity to sing with others. He also served as the backbone of the Christmas Family Band which featured four generations of Lyngs along with the instruments they played in high school, mostly long ago. They perform carols every Christmas Eve, to the best of their abilities, and his tuba parts kept them as on track as they were capable of being. Bob loved nature and enjoyed a lot of golf and other activities like deer hunting, hiking the Arizona mountains and digging for fishing worms with his grandchildren. He also loved a good crossword puzzle as long as it came with a La-Z-Boy recliner and some pretzels. Bob is survived by Carone, his loving wife of 67 years, his children Mary (John), Bob Jr. (Julia), and Gwen (Ray), seven grandchildren (Kelsey, Shannon, Thor, Tova, Rosie, Jane and Kelly) and two great grandchildren (Wyn and Day). He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Herman, and sister, Thelma. Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Sauk Centre.
