Endurance wins the day -By Harvey Mackay I stumbled across a quote recently by psychologist Angela Duckworth that really caught my eye. She said “Enthusiasm is common.

Endurance is rare.”

I’ve written a number of columns about the importance of enthusiasm, and I don’t believe it is common or easy. Getting enthusiastic about something and staying enthusiastic are not always the same.

Endurance, on the other hand, requires enthusiasm first and staying power after. It’s often extremely difficult to soldier on when an idea or project is faced with obstacles and resistance. But if it’s worth doing, endurance is the key. That’s why I strongly believe in the motto “Those who endure, conquer.”

Zig Ziglar, a master motivator and one of the most enthusiastic people I have known, told the story of a woman in his organization that was the top salesperson – out of 1,200 people! When she broke all the sales records, Zig asked her how she did it. She replied, “God didn’t make me with an off-switch.”

Dale Carnegie, one of the most successful inspirational writers of all time, said: “Flaming enthusiasm, backed up by horse sense and persistence, is the quality that most frequently makes for success.”

The world is full of examples of people who endured. Michelangelo endured seven years lying on his back on a scaffold to paint the Sistine Chapel. NASA experienced 20 failures in its first 28 attempts to send rockets into space.

Sarah Jessica Parker was born in a poor coal-mining town in Ohio, the fourth of eight children. Her stepfather was often out of work so he danced and sang to help support the

family. At age 11, she was cast in a Broadway play with her brother. Many years later she landed one of the lead characters in the TV blockbuster “Sex and the City.” She’s still thriving today.

Another star of a TV smash hit is Jerry Seinfeld who was booed off a comedy-clubstage after only three minutes. That rejection didn’t deter him, as he kept perfecting his stand-up act at clubs all over New York until he landed a role in the 1980s sitcom “Benson” and then his own self-titled sit-com and rocked him to fame.

Rapper Jay-Z couldn’t get a record deal and sold his first CD out of his car. He ended up founding his own record label, Roc-A-Fella Records, and is regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists in history.

Howard Schultz of Starbucks fame knows the power of endurance firsthand. He contacted more than 200 investors looking for his first original loan in acquiring the firm. After a year of rejections, he was able to secure the $400,000 needed from a doctor and two other individual investors. Today, Starbucks is one of the most recognizable brands with more than 32,000 stores in 83 countries and nearly 350,000 employees.

Surfer Bethany Hamilton was only 13 years old when a shark bit off her left arm.

Less than a month later she was back on a surfboard and is one of the top women surfers in the world, winning several competitions.

Motivational speakers Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen pitched the original “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book to more than 130 publishers before they found a small publisher in Florida who said yes.

Their endurance was rewarded, as nearly 300 “Chicken Soup for the Soul” books have now been published and more than 500 million copies sold worldwide.

Religious leader Gautama Buddha advised, “Don’t pray for lighter burdens, but for stronger backs.”

Philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau said, “Endurance and to be able to endure is the first

lesson a child should learn because it’s the one they will most need to know.”

Heard enough? In all walks of life, endurance is often the difference between success and regret. Stick-to-itiveness is never a sticking point for determined people.

I love the story of the high school basketball coach who was attempting to motivate his players to endure through a difficult season. Halfway through the season he stood before his team and said, “Did Michael Jordan ever quit?”

The team responded, “No!” He yelled, “What about Tom Brady. Did he ever give up?”

“No!” the team responded.

“Did Wayne Gretzky ever quit?”

Again, the team yelled “No!” “Did Elmer McAllister ever quit?”

There was a long silence. Finally, one player was bold enough to ask, “Who’s Elmer McAllister? We’ve never heard of him.”

The coach snapped back, “Of course you never heard of him. He quit!”

Mackay’s Moral: Getting the job started is simple compared to getting the job done.

“The Good Old Days” -By Tom Kuehne Peg Building

When some of the original immigrants, who were trained carpenters came to this country, they brought with them a building method which is no longer used. It involves the use of wooden pegs.

I think that the use of wooden pegs was considered to be more structurally sound than the use of metal nails. However, the availability of metal to make spikes and nails may have been limited in the “old country”.

A lot of the original framework in buildings was made of White Oak. If a metal spike was used, a hole was drilled for the spike to secure the framework, due to the difficulty involved in driving a spike into White Oak. White Oak was the most durable, rot resistant and strong wood readily available in this area.

After White Oak logs were cut into lumber, they required a longer drying time and during the drying time they needed to be stacked with spaces between the boards, so that they didn't warp, twist and bend.

These dried boards, planks and beams are now ready for the building project. They probably need to have final straightening with an ax or draw-shave to make them as close to square as possible.

One needs to remember that this was before the time of electricity, so all of the forming, construction and finishing was done with hand tools. The primary tools were shovels, wheelborrows, malls, hammers, axes, draw-shaves, squares, hand-drills and most important, the hand-saw. If you didn't have strong arms before the start of the building, you did have strong arms when the job was done.

The pegs were primarily used to secure the primary frame-work. The planks or beams were cut to the necessary size and then to secure them in place a hole was bored in a location where two parts of the framework joined. The hole was about an inch in diameter.

The peg was of hardwood and was made to fit snugly into the inch diameter holes. The pegs were driven into the hole with a mall and any part of the peg that extended beyond hole was cut off. This created an extremely strong bond between the framing components.

Pegs are not part of today's construction.

One reason is the extra work involved in this type of construction. The other reason is that White Oak framework is no longer readily available or desired.

The original carpenters built buildings which were a monument to the builder's abilities and many lasted more than 100 years. Today's builders build buildings to fill a current need as quickly and least expensive as possible. We can't be critical of either method, the builder is building what the customer wants.

“Why Thank you”, Oh! Thank you, Thank you very much, Thank you…

No, I am not practicing my speech for a reward, haha. I am trying to think of all the ways the two words, thank you, are used. But these are just words. Countless times, I hear people say those two words, but they somehow seem meaningless. I open a door for someone at a supermarket, the people coming out say thank you and do not even look at the person who they are thanking.

This was brought to my attention a couple of weeks ago when my granddaughter told me “Thank you." Now Bridget is not my real granddaughter, as we think of family trees. But about two years ago, my daughter and I led her to the Lord, and so in the family of God, she is, in a sense my granddaughter. There are some hard feelings with her and her family and so, we took her in. We loved her as our own, and in every way except legally, she is ours.

Two weeks ago, she left a message for me that went something like this, “Grandpa, thank you for taking me in, when I had no where to go. Thank you for loving me for who I am. You and Grandma are appreciated and loved.” I get choked up even now thinking about how nice it

Irene A. Harren

Irene A. Harren, age 88 of Freeport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at her home in Freeport, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m.

Thursday, October 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Dan Walz officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery. There will be no public visitation prior to the Mass.

A beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend and colleague, Irene was born on May 4, 1933 in Elrosa, Minnesota to Bernard and Anna (Boecker) Herickhoff, the second of eleven children. Irene grew up in rural Elrosa on her parent's farm. After graduation from Belgrade High School in 1950, Irene worked for an exclusive men's clothing store as a bookkeeper in Sauk Centre and Moorhead, Minnesota. Irene and Ed were married on July 5, 1955 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. She was employed as a billing and payment clerk for Otter Tail Power Company in Morris.

When the family began to arrive, she became a stay home mother.

In 1964, the couple moved to Ed's family farm at rural Freeport where she became bookkeeper for the farm accounts. She was a member of the Christian Mothers of the St. Francis parish, rural Freeport, and served as treasurer. She taught Faith Formation for about 30 years, both in the parish setting and for her grandchildren in their homes. She raised a garden every summer, did a lot of canning, sewing, mending, and did sewing alterations of bridal gowns and bridesmaid's dresses. She also belonged to the St. Mary's neighborhood quilting group. She raised her seven children to appreciate the farm and their faith. She and Ed traveled to many states throughout the United States, but her favorite trips were the ten trips they made to Germany to visit with her German relatives. In her retirement, she did research on and compiled family tree books for the Herickhoff and Boecker families as well as the Harren and Rausch families and helped with the Gerads family. She loved knowing the heritage of these families and passed this on to other family members.

Survivors include her husband, Ed Harren of Freeport; children, Juleen (Ray) Scegura of Holdingford, John (Lois) Harren of Freeport, Barry (Colleen) Harren of Freeport, Gregg (Nancy) Harren of Eagle Bend, David (Kathy) Harren of Eagle Bend, Michael (Shelly) Harren of Holdingford, and James (Cheryl) Harren of Freeport; 23 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marlene Herickhoff, Rita Walz, Dr. Bob (Pam) Herickhoff, Charles Herickhoff, James (Ruth) Herickhoff, Norma (Joe) Moening, Marie (Ken) Bezdicek, Mark (Donna) Herickhoff, Bernie (Linda) Herickhoff, Henry (Vicky) Herickhoff, Regina Hoeschen, Rita Schiller, Conrad Harren, and Eugene (Connie) Harren.

Delores Farrow, 92-year-old resident of Grey Eagle died October 19 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 30 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Father Ron Dockendorf officiating.

The burial will be held in the parish cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the service on Saturday, October 30 at the church.

Delores Rosella Marty was born on September 19, 1929 in Todd County, Minnesota to the late Joseph and Edna (McDermond) Marty.

She grew up and attended school in Todd County.

She was united in marriage to Russell A. Farrow on July 2, 1946 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. The couple lived in Burtrum later moving to St. Paul, where they resided for 20 years. Delores worked a variety of jobs while living in St. Paul. The couple moved back to Burtrum, and Delores worked for Stearns Manufacturing as a seamstress for many years.

She enjoyed sewing, baking, reading, playing cards, gardening, flowers and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Grey Eagle.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Diane (Bob) Giefer of Pine River, Phyllis (Richard) Nellessen of Cottage Grove, Curt (Alice) Farrow of Rockford, Daniel (Pamela) of Burtrum, Kim (Bill) Pohlman of Burtrum; sister, Marlys Kircher; 15 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Edna Marty, husband, Russell.

She was united in marriage to Allen Lembeck on November 22, 1956 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove. The couple farmed all their lives near Spring Hill. Dorothy was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill and the Christian Women. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzels, and taking an occasional trip to the casino.

Survivors include her children, Kathy Flanders of Foley, Alabama, Gary (Lori) Lembeck of St. Cloud, Steve Lembeck of Spring Hill, Mary (Greg) Braun of Cold Spring, Jackie Dahl of Spring Hill, and Lisa (Gary) Bertram of Greenwald; 13 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren with one on the way; brother, Melvin Marthaler of Cold Spring; and sisters, Clarine Stalboerger of Meire Grove and Janice (Will) Kalstrom of St. Cloud.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Lembeck on November 25, 2004; parents; brother, Denis Marthaler; and sister, Lavina Walz.

Delores Soltis, 89 year old resident of Bowlus, MN died Thursday, October 21 at Little Falls Health Services in Little Falls. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 26 at at the Community Country Church in Holdingford, MN with Rev. Gregg Valentine officiating. The burial was held in the South Elmdale Cemetery.

Delores Jeanette Bjerke was born September 26, 1932 in Baker, ND to the late Edwin and Alma (Remmen) Bjerke. She grew up and attended school in Churchs Ferry, ND until the 9th grade. She met the love of her life, Dale in North Dakota while he was there working there on local farms. The couple was united in marriage on November 3, 1951 at South Elmdale Church, Holdingford. The couple made their home in rural Morrison County. They were blessed with five children, Scott, Randy, Rick, Darcy and LeAnn. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking and horse riding. She was a faithful member of the Community Country Church and was a member of the Ladies’ Missionary Society.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, LeAnn Waddell of Rockford, Scott (Audrey) Soltis of Bowlus, Randy (Patricia) Soltis of St. Cloud, Rick (Lisa) Soltis of Bowlus and Darcy (Robyn) Soltis of Bowlus; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Bonnie (Ivan) Aabrekke of Minnewaukan, ND. James “Jim” Krych

The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of James “Jim” Krych, age 70, of Holdingford, was held Tuesday, October 26, at the Church of All Saints, St. Hedwig in Holdingford. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Jim went to his eternal home on Friday, October 22, at the CentraCare Hospital in St. Cloud, with his wife and children at his bedside. Arrangements are made by the MillerCarlin Funeral Homes.

Born to Edmund and Rita (Pintok) Krych on January 27, 1951, Jim lived in Holdingford, MN, his entire life. Jim married his wonderful wife, Jan, on October 9, 1976. Jim and Jan had two children, Joshua Krych and Sarah (Krych) Heidelberger.

They were blessed as their family grew with their daughter-in-law Lori (Joshua) and son-in-law Reed (Sarah), along with grandchildren Lily, Jonah, Gianna, Margaret, and Benedict Heidelberger; and Jack, Cole, Andrew, and Lewis Krych; and grandchildren heavenside--Natalie and Grace.

Jim graduated college from University of Minnesota, Crookston, where he enjoyed working on a farm for work study. Through the years, he worked at Avon Plastics, Kraft Foods West Plant in Melrose, Adolph Oil Company, and Gerads Oil Company until his early retirement. He was an active member of his St. Hedwig Church community over his lifetime, Knights of Columbus, Saturday Morning Men's Group, Eucharistic adoration committee, and an active lector at Mass. He loved spending time with his wife of 45 years, family, and friends. Jim was a devoted daily Mass attendee and he was known for his lengthy conversations and hearty laugh. Faith and family were his life focus and as he lived, so he died. He will be greatly missed by anyone who ever had the gift of a lively conversation and relationship with him.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, Joseph, Jerome, Jan, Jeff, and countless friends he made along his life journey.

Robert Charles Lyng Sr. “Bob”, age 92 of Eagan, Minnesota, passed away October 21, 2021.

He was born Aug. 2, 1929 to Jens and Gena Lyng in Todd County, MN. Bob was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and met Carone, the love of his life, at a church function. Together they served their church in many capacities throughout their lives.

Bob earned a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Cloud State, taught high school for 6 years, and then worked in the insurance industry until his retirement in 1984, receiving his CLU in 1967.

Bob had a beautiful singing voice. He frequently soloed for his fellow parishioners and took every opportunity to sing with others. He also served as the backbone of the Christmas Family Band which featured four generations of Lyngs along with the instruments they played in high school, mostly long ago. They perform carols every Christmas Eve, to the best of their abilities, and his tuba parts kept them as on track as they were capable of being.

Bob loved nature and enjoyed a lot of golf and other activities like deer hunting, hiking the Arizona mountains and digging for fishing worms with his grandchildren. He also loved a good crossword puzzle as long as it came with a La-Z-Boy recliner and some pretzels.

Bob is survived by Carone, his loving wife of 67 years, his children Mary (John), Bob Jr. (Julia), and Gwen (Ray), seven grandchildren (Kelsey, Shannon, Thor, Tova, Rosie, Jane and Kelly) and two great grandchildren (Wyn and Day).

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Herman, and sister, Thelma.

-Crislyn Dear Crislyn, My guess is the guy’s not really bankrupt, but it sounds like he has some maturity and character issues that need to be addressed. I’m not saying things can’t change, but this is not someone to move in with or consider marrying anytime soon. You two would have a hard time as husband and wife unless he makes some real course corrections in his attitudes about money and life.

Leaving one position for another is okay, but deciding you just don’t like something and walking away from it without another job waiting—especially when you’ve got bills and a bunch of debt—is just plain irresponsible.

Lots of people identify too strongly with what they drive or where they live. They come to believe those things are indications of their value or worth, and that’s sad. It means something inside them is broken, and bankruptcy isn’t going to fix that.

All this doesn’t mean he isn’t basically a decent guy, but it does mean he needs to get control of his finances—and that he’s got some soul searching and growing up to do.

Dear Motor Medics, My check engine light has been illuminated on my car for almost a year. When it first came on, I was alarmed so I had my mechanic check it out, they said it was due to a failed catalytic convertor and that it would be expensive to fix but since it would not harm the engine I could keep driving it that way and ignore the light. After about six months the engine started to run rough so I went back, and they told me I now had several other codes that needed immediate repair otherwise severe engine damage could occur. I don’t want to spend the money on a convertor but how can I tell if something is failing if the light is already on for something else? My car is a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix with 75k miles.

You need to repair the issue with the convertor in addition to the other system as well. I know many shops tell their customers a failed convertor won’t hurt the engine so you can drive it but there are always side effects. In this case you can’t tell what other problems may be in the system. This car may still be covered by an eight-year 80k mile federal emissions warranty that may cover the convertor. Check with a GM dealership to see if this is so.

Even the act of pushing a cd into the unit instead of letting the unit pull it in slowly by itself can damage the delicate mechanism. Grey Eagle City • September 14, 2021 The regular meeting of the Grey Eagle City Council was called to order by Mayor Joseph Arnzen at 7:00 p.m., on the 14th day of September 2021 in council chambers. Council members present were Roland Ahrendt, Bill Pohlmann, Brad Johnson and Brian Hollenkamp. Also in attendance were John Call, Lori Hellmann and guests Bryan Bye, John Walburn, Cathy Walburn, Janine Kutter, Terry Lanoue, Steven Ahrens, Iris Ahrens, Duane Karls, Tim Ainali, Barb Ainali, Steve Neville, Marc Rosenow and Gene Lahr.

A motion was made by Bill Pohlmann to approve the amended agenda. A second was made by Roland Ahrendt and upon vote, with all members voting in favor, motion carried.

A motion was made by Roland Ahrendt to approve the minutes of the August 10, 2021 meeting as written.

Terry Lanoue from Long Prairie Sanitation was in attendance to update the council on the change in trash pick-up day from Thursday to Wednesday beginning October 6, 2021. Recycling carts will be delivered to each city resident with pickup to take place every other Wednesday beginning with October 6, 2021. There will be no charge for the recycling and residents who do not wish to have a recycling cart is asked to call City Hall and Long Prairie Sanitation will come to pick up the cart. Residents are asked to have trash and recycling carts set out before 8:00 a.m.

A motion was made by Bill Pohlmann to approve a building permit for Steven Ahrens to extend his driveway approximately one foot on each side. A second was made by Brad Johnson and upon vote, with all members voting in favor, motion carried.

Janine Kutter, representing the Grey Eagle Burtrum Lions Club, was in attendance to share information from the Gambling Control Board on the use of donated funds.

Bryan Bye updated the council on the sewer project. The underground work is complete, they are continuing to shape and compact the streets and landscaping will begin once the paving is done.

A motion was made by Brian Hollenkamp to approve change order #3 for additional work on Highway 28 for an increase of $68,045.28. A second was made

by Bill Pohlmann and upon vote, with all members voting in favor, motion carried.

A motion was made by Bill Pohlmann to approve change order #4, reducing the cost of the project by $220,341.00. A second was made by Brian Hollenkamp and upon vote, with all members voting in favor, motion carried.

A motion was made by Roland Ahrendt to approve pay request #8 to C & L Excavating for $978,832.19 for the time period July 31-September 10. A second was made by Brian Hollenkamp and upon vote, with all members voting in favor, motion carried.

Duane Karls was in attendance to discuss the culvert in the road right-of-way on Spruce Street East.

Bryan Bye will find out the cost to put in a catch basin.

Matt Zinniel would like to have the bump out from St. John’s Church to his property evened out and tar put in. Bryan Bye stated that this would cover approximately 650 square feet and would cost approximately $2,000. It was the consensus of the council to keep it as it was originally.

Gene Lahr was in attendance to discuss the issues on Pearl Street East. Gene believes that the road is too high and that one driveway is higher than his neighbors. Bryan Bye will look at this area.

Tim Ainali was in attendance to discuss issues relating to the sewer project which include the number of sewer clean out stand pipes on some properties, water hook up requirements and tar to his property on Cedar Street South.

Mayor Joe Arnzen will talk to Riley Brothers about a needed street patch on Pearl Street East/Brinkman Street South.

The Clerk was instructed to get quotes for annual inspection of the generators at both lift stations.

A motion was made by Brian Hollenkamp to approve Resolution No. 2021-03, A Resolution Accepting Donations for Fire Department Equipment.

A second was made by Brad Johnson and upon vote, with all members voting in favor, motion carried. The resolution is as follows: Resolution No. 2021-03: A Resolution Accepting Donations for Fire Department Equipment WHEREAS, monies have been donated by the following individuals: Carmen Lyon $20, James and Laura Mills $200, Ron and Ginny Grove $100 and Mark and Connie Nelson $50; and WHEREAS, the City Council feels that the donation will benefit citizens of the area; 1. A motion was made by Brad Johnson to approve the City Clerk’s vacation request of October 21st & 22nd and October 26th through October 29th. A second was made by Bill Pohlmann and upon vote, with all members voting in favor, motion carried.

John and Cathy Walburn were in attendance to see where things stand on the moratorium regarding storage sheds. The City Council is working with the City Attorney regarding the moratorium.

A motion was made by Brian Hollenkamp to approve Resolution No. 2021-04, A Resolution Adopting Preliminary Levy Payable in 2022. A second was made by Brad Johnson and upon vote, with all members voting in favor, motion carried. The resolution is as follows: Resolution No. 2021-04: A Resolution Adopting Preliminary Levy Payable in 2022 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the following preliminary levy for 2022 was approved and adopted by the Grey Eagle City Council on this 14th day of September, 2021.

5. The bathrooms at Laughlin Park and Bass Lake need some attention.

6. Quote for the floors in the Fire Hall and the Fire Department meeting room.

More Minnesotans than ever qualify for the Energy Assistance Program. In 2021, the Minnesota Department of Commerce, which operates the Energy Assistance Program, has over $130 million in federal funding, with more expected this fall, to help more Minnesota households. The Energy Assistance Program helps Minnesota households pay for current and past-due bills for electricity, gas, oil, biofuel and propane, emergency fuel delivery, and repair/replacement of homeowners’ broken heating systems, and could also cover water and sewer bills.

Commerce raised the income eligibility limit to 60% of Minnesota’s median income levels ($67,765 per year for a family of four) and is significantly increasing benefit amounts to reduce energy burdens more than ever, including up to $2,000 for energy bills, plus up

to $1,200 for past-due energy bills.

Water bill assistance is newly available and households can also qualify for weatherization. By submitting one application through the Energy Assistance Program, households could qualify for payments to cover both water and energy bills, and qualify them for the Minnesota Weatherization Program, also operated by Commerce. Weatherization helps households with home improvements to conserve energy and lower their energy costs permanently. By George Morris, MD, Incident Commander for CentraCare’s COVID-19 Response “There are no beds.” It’s a phrase that has become far too commonplace inside Emergency Departments and hospitals as physicians seek to find higher levels of care for their patients. What does it really mean? We are in a dire situation.

As COVID-19 continues to rip through our communities – especially where vaccination rates remain low – our ability to care for patients in the way they are accustomed, is no longer the norm. The number of COVID-positive patients hospitalized across the state is quickly nearing peak numbers we experienced in the fall of 2020. Roughly 85% of those hospitalized are unvaccinated. Many are under age 50.

A still-raging virus, coupled with frontline staff who have left healthcare because they are just plain burned out, is creating a perfect storm. Hospitals are full. Dedicated staff are exhausted. Each day, it is becoming more and more difficult to find a bed for the COVID-positive patient who needs high-flow oxygen or the heart patient who needs a stent

or the car accident victim. Patients wait. Their loved ones wait. There are no beds.

This is our reality. We’re 20 months into a pandemic and 10 months into the availability of a lifesaving, medical miracle. It’s time to end this pandemic with the one thing that makes a difference: the COVID-19 vaccine.

Healthcare resources are running low.

Tensions are running high.

Our commitment to our communities is what keeps us going. But we need a commitment from you: Get the vaccine.

We are here for you. We will fight for your life. But we will likely be forced to make difficult choices if things don’t change.

Please help us. Our plea is for everyone – ages 12 to 112 – to get vaccinated.

And it is our prayer that you or your loved one never has to hear the phrase, “There are no beds.”
