According to Deepak Jain, owner of the Home Living Furniture store in Monmouth County, New Jersey, more customers are working from home and boosting their home entertainment capabilities. “Because of the pandemic, many of our customers are still working – and playing - at home,” he said. “In some cases, that does not look as if it is about to change any time soon. For us, it meant really expanding our line of home office and home entertainment furniture options to fit their lifestyle.”
The New Normal
While some people are looking ahead to going back to work every day at the office, many others expect to continue working from home at least part of the time. That means setting up a home office in a quiet spot with the furniture they need to get things done. “Balancing your computer on your lap while you sit on the sofa gets old really fast,” said Mr. Jain. “Our customers come in complaining about back pain and wrist pain. People are also seeking furniture that will allow them to stay entertained at home, especially during the summer vacation months. “It used to be that you escaped the heat by going to the movies, and many kids spent all summer at camp,” said Mr. Jain. “Right now some of our customers have not yet returned to their familiar routines. As a result, they are looking for ways to set up an entertainment space at home.”
