Christmas has officially started here at Home Instead York & Ryedale. Since the start of December, you have been able to come into the office, choose a bauble off the tree and match it to the present below. It’s been great seeing you all before Christmas receiving your presents. If you haven’t yet had chance to make it in to the office, please make sure you pay us a visit before Christmas to get yours.

Andy’s Advice

Communicating with the office about absence is important, we need to ensure your clients are supported.

Please contact the office immediately to inform them. Try and avoid emails and text messages, telephone is the best point of contact. Keep the office updated regularly about your absence so they can plan to ensure calls are covered and your return is as smooth as possible.

Christmas Makers’ Market Every month you can browse unique works from local artists and crafters at the monthly York Makers’ Market which takes place on the last Sunday of each month in the Shambles Market.

The last event of the year will be a special Christmas Makers’ Market on Sunday 17th December. There will be stalls and crafts from small businesses all over North Yorkshire. It’s a great opportunity to find an unusual Christmas present or choose something special for yourself.

Our clients, Kathleen, Joan, Elizabeth and Pauline received their Christmas plants from us last week. As part of our festivities, we are giving Kalanchoes to all our clients, kindly provided to us by Deans Garden Centre in York. With each plant is a personalised Christmas card, designed by local York schoolchildren.

If a client you visit hasn’t yet received their Kalanchoe, please ensure you come and pick one up from the office for them. We are also asking you to ‘nominate a neighbour’ so feel free to take another to gift to a neighbour of yours or a client who you feel would appreciate some festive cheer!

Congratulations to Pauline, Sophie and Maya who this month completed their care certificate.

Office opening hours

Over the festive period the office will open as usual until 3pm on Friday 22nd December, we will then reopen on Wednesday 27th December.

Over New Year we close at 3pm on Friday 29th December, reopening on Tuesday 2nd January 2018.

Remember we have the emergency on call service available 24/7 if required.

5. B efore the act is done, or the decision is made, regard must be had as to whether the purpose for which it is needed can be as effectively achieved in a way which is less restrictive of the person’s rights and freedom of action.

We’ve had a busy month in terms of long service awards at Home Instead York.

Congratulations to Helen (pictured above with Care Manager Carol) who collected her restaurant voucher and flowers after celebrating six years’ service with Home Instead Senior Care York & Ryedale.

This month, Gemma celebrated 5 years’ service and therefore became our newest member of our ‘Gold Club’, a small number of CAREGivers who have completed over 5 years of hard work with Home Instead.

Gemma, pictured right, with Director Luke, came into the office to collect her gold badge, along with flowers and meal voucher to spend with her family.

And completing 3 and 1 years’ service and getting their silver and bronze badges for this are Carol and Cath.

Andrew Boast, Head of CAREGiver Experience at Home Instead York said, “A big congratulations to all those who achieved long service awards last month. I’d like to thank you all for all your hard work over the years, here’s to many more!”
