OPULENT OASIS ON THE LAKE

SUMPTUOUS LAKESIDE LIVING REACHES NEW HEIGHTS IN PINE RIDGE ESTATES

Front Elevation: A colonnade of royal palms greets visitors, and the out-turned garages create a central courtyard and symmetrical driveways that give the home that grand appeal. “When dealing with asymmetry, as with the differently-sized garages here, I prefer not to force symmetry,” Residential Designer Richard Guzman of R.G. Designs explains. “Instead, I achieve balance by compensating with different elements, like adding a tower on one side and adjusting elevations on the other, ensuring overall balance.” Freestyle Interiors Senior Interior Designer Arlynn McDaniel selects a warm hue for the body, choosing Eider White by Sherwin-Williams that complements the charcoal roof and the composite cladding by Fiberon Composite Cladding. The 72-inch outdoor wall sconces from WAC Lighting emphasize the impressive scale of the entryway, which is made more welcoming by the floating header finished in Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore. Andersen Windows & Doors from Florida Wood Window and Door flood the home with natural light — a deliberate design choice by Guzman.

L“Like so many of the record-breaking homes that we have built throughout Naples, a home of this magnitude will set a new milestone for the community of Pine Ridge Estates,” says Rich Grimes, Director of Sales at McGarvey Custom Homes. This impressive 10,074-square-foot under-air lakefront estate is fitted with every amenity, and Grimes reinforces, “This home is a wonderful illustration of our attention to detail and what we do at McGarvey Custom Homes.”

Bringing this vision to life, Residential Designer Richard Guzman of R.G. Designs crafts a warm, coastal-modern exterior for the home, harmonizing with the lakeside setting that plays a central role in the design. Jennifer Burch, Vice President of Residential Construction at McGarvey Custom Homes, explains, “The lake prompted us to create a two-story home to capture every possible view and enhance the homeowner’s lifestyle.”

Every detail is meticulously curated, down to the flowers planted at the gate’s entrance. “Bursts of color immediately catch the eye, leading you to the next bed of flowers. Repeating the color along the way creates a clear visual path that draws you to the home,” describes Landscape Architect Christian Andrea of Architectural Land Design. The home’s grand scale is fully appreciated in the idyllic entry courtyard, where a bubbling water feature hints at the waterside experience that awaits. u

Dining Room (Previous Spread): The ceiling detail cleverly conceals the drapery channel. Sheer curtains cascade in the corners, adding softness and a hint of color. The buffet niche offers a view into the 858-bottle climate-controlled wine room — a modern touch within this exquisite dining room adorned with navy place settings and silk money plants. Above the table from Vanguard Furniture and Jessica Charles chairs hangs a contemporary Kuzco chandelier. Its orbs repeat the shapes of the sconces, which dangle like elegant earrings.

Great Room: Tone-on-tone detailing defines McDaniel‘s Neoclassical approach, exemplified by the inverted coffer where she extends the trim of the ceiling design to flank the fireplace feature. This thoughtful ceiling detail shelters the furniture arrangement, oriented toward the two-sided fireplace. The fireplace wall is enhanced by a textured wallcovering from Omexco in a rich navy blue. Burch notes that the three circular light fixtures from Visual Comfort have sparked conversations among all who have seen the home. “The mitered glass corner was important to us.” shares Grimes. “That is the longest lake view right through those panes, and we knew it was imperative to maximize the exposure from that corner.” Nearby, the floor-to-ceiling windows framing the seating area offer an uninterrupted view. This choice enhances the scenery and creates a conversation area unencumbered by the usual foot traffic from sliding doors. Anchoring the space is a custom rug from Abbey Carpet & Floor.

Foyer: A grand piano rests at the base of this impressive staircase, which ascends to the second floor within the vaulted foyer, serving as a striking architectural centerpiece. McDaniel explains that a glass railing was chosen to prevent visual clutter, while a black stringer was avoided for its potential to create too much contrast. Instead, the white mono-stringer, paired with white oak treads, creates a more subtle contrast that establishes a visual rhythm reminiscent of the music one might imagine emanating from the nearby piano. Where the architectural plan called for an opening, McDaniel saw an opportunity to emulate the transom above the entry door. This cased look-through offers a glimpse of what McDaniel calls “the prettiest room in the house.” Peering into the dining room, the wine room is visible just beyond, making this framed vision as dynamic as a piece of art. Drawing inspiration from Neoclassical aesthetics, McDaniel commissioned artist Molly Wooley to create a custom mural, enhancing the space with timeless sophistication.

Kitchen: “It’s a McGarvey signature to have a window above the range, so you get natural light and a scenic view while cooking,” delights Burch. McDaniel selects Perfect Greige by Sherwin-Williams for the custom cabinetry, adding 3Form panels to some cabinet fronts for a truly original kitchen. The stone mosaic from Design Works features shades of taupe, cream, white, and gray, creating a rich visual texture that embodies the foundational palette of the entire home.

Freestyle Interiors Senior Interior Designer Arlynn McDaniel shares, “We’ve been doing contemporary clean interiors for years now, and I felt strongly it was time to bring trim back into the fold.” For this home, McDaniel blends a clean contemporary style with a Neoclassical approach, incorporating bold architectural elements with detailed accents. The grand foyer welcomes visitors with a soaring two-story ceiling, where McDaniel begins with a fresh palette of white and taupe that pairs elegantly with the navy and blush accents throughout.

“With the staircase visible from many places in the home, we felt it was important for it to make a statement, and we used a floating stair design with glass railings to accomplish that look,” says Ben McGarvey, Director of Residential Construction for McGarvey Custom Homes. While the foyer’s grandeur is undeniable, Guzman balances scale throughout the home. “I believe in the impact of a dramatic, two-story entry, but lowering the ceiling in living areas creates a more relaxed, inviting environment.” The expansive floor plan defines luxury and purpose, where every detail — from sight lines and furniture placement to ceiling design — is thoughtfully curated. u

Nook: McDaniel’s banquette design introduces variation in furniture profiles, softening the abundance of rectangular elements such as the islands and dining table. The banquette breaks up this visual repetition while offering additional functionality. It has hidden storage and a quartz-topped serving area, enhancing the space for both living and entertaining. Resin panels on the back of the banquette match the kitchen, while the wallcovering mirrors the fireplace, and the chairs on casters from Vanguard Furniture offer flexible seating options.

Primary Bedroom: The bed is custom made by Southlinks Custom Cabinetry, and is a masterful blend of form and function. It includes an integrated television on an automatic lift, illuminated bedrails, and built-in nightstands, all with a dresser and bookcase elegantly integrated around the headboard. The stunning pitch ceiling in crisp white enhances the bed, while sheers and blackout shades provide flexibility. The trim detail on the walls, painted to match the wall color, introduces a subtle complexity that beautifully frames the artwork.

Primary Bathroom: Deeper hues on the vanity ground this airy space, complemented by bold, mixed-metal hardware. Tall windows invite natural light into the room and offer views of the private garden, where confederate jasmine climbs the walls, adding touches of verdant foliage. Layered trim on the ceiling adds a touch of Neoclassic elegance, and the chandelier from Eurofase imitates the delicate look of money plants McDaniel uses throughout.

The custom bed is a standout feature of the primary bedroom, offering 360 degree access and integrating with a bookcase and dresser. Enhancing the room’s ambiance, the bed faces the expansive wall of windows, ensuring that each morning begins with a tranquil lake view. The en suite bathroom features the charm of a European garden, gracefully revealing a secluded botanical retreat seen through the windows.

Every detail is fine-tuned to elevate the experience of lakeside living, extending the outdoor living area into the grounds, fire pit, and dock. Each aspect highlights the excellence of McGarvey Custom Homes, setting a new benchmark for luxury in Pine Ridge Estates. n

Primary Bedroom Walk-In Closet: With natural light streaming in from clerestory windows, this boutique-style closet offers more than just function — it’s an experience. Thoughtful details like a built-in vanity define the luxurious tone. The two-tone Tafisa cabinetry — crafted by Southlinks Custom Cabinetry in a neutral gray called Latitude East — is highlighted by bright white and provides the perfect backdrop for clothing and accessories. Backlit display cases add sophistication, while quartz countertops from Pompeii Quartz offer a refined finish.

Guest Cabana Suite: This stunning triptych features a flourishing tree in soft neutrals with brown and blue accents, and echoes the foyer’s mural. These colors show up around the room as thoughtful, colorful accents amid the inviting neutral palette. In designing the tailored cabana suite, McDaniel prioritizes the comfort of extended guests, incorporating a cozy seating area for relaxation. The comfort of the suite continues with a private patio deck and a convenient morning bar, complete with a sink and refrigerator.

Study: “The bold choice of deep blue in the study offers a dramatic and striking impact,” Burch explains, where McDaniel chooses Sherwin-Williams Naval for the walls, balanced by a white ceiling. An 84-inch desk from Old Biscayne Designs anchors the space, while abstract artwork draws attention to the built-in. Lounge chairs from Bernhardt in Kravet fabric complement the navy walls, and with metallic threading, the fabric adds a subtle splendor. Bathed in natural light, the room offers stunning views of the pool and lake beyond.

Bonus Room: McDaniel chooses the softer hue Storm Cloud by SherwinWilliams for the cabinetry. With the corner window posing a design challenge, she opts against upper cabinets, creating upper storage with a backlit panel and shelves that serve as a dynamic focal point. A game table from Century Furniture pairs well with chairs by Belle Meade Signature, upholstered in a fabric that resembles travertine, with soft browns, silvers, and cream running through it, tying into the overall color palette.

Powder Room: Located on the main floor, the powder room showcases a glass vessel sink from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery, with intricate white, taupe, and blue swirls. The vanity, painted in Chatura Gray by Sherwin-Williams, pairs beautifully with the silver branch wallcovering from York Wallcoverings, which wouldn’t feel as dramatic without being on every wall.

Jennifer Burch, Vice President of Residential Construction at McGarvey Custom Homes, explains, “The lake prompted us to create a two-story home to capture every possible view and enhance the homeowner’s lifestyle.”

Outdoor Living: With such an expansive space, McDaniel calls upon every ceiling detail to delineate and add dramatic interest. The interior color scheme prevails, and McDaniel crafts a cozy seating area with furniture from Bernhardt Furniture and organic-shaped cocktail tables from SUNPAN. The outdoor kitchen is convenient to the generous 120-inch dining table from Restoration Hardware with sleek chairs from Castelle Furniture. The luxurious pool, visible through the see-through fireplace framed in taupe tile, invites a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living. Motorized insect screens, motorized hurricane shutters, and Bahama shutters concealing access panels are from Castle Services of Southwest Florida.

Pool: Andrea incorporates mature palm trees that, from the outset, lend the estate a sense of history. The pool is symmetrical, with artificial turf in a lattice pattern that draws you in. “The spa is a focal point of the pool and perfectly positioned,” says Andrea. “So, instead of turning the homeowner’s back to the lake, this layout places the occupant in a prime position to enjoy the fire and water bowls that frame the lake view.”

EXPANSIVE ESTATE CELEBRATES 15 YEARS OF EXCEPTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT

DDiamond Custom Homes is celebrating 15 remarkable years of crafting luxury residences in Southwest Florida, marking a significant milestone in their journey. Their latest achievement is a spacious estate in Quail West, showcasing their unwavering attention to detail and personalized approach, which ensures that every custom home is a true reflection of the homeowner’s vision. President Michael Diamond of Diamond Custom Homes delivers yet another residence that is on par with excellence.

“The expansive lot sizes in Quail West allow us to be more creative with the architectural design,” explains Diamond. “You don’t often see lots this wide, which lets us really stretch the design and create something spectacular.” This spaciousness influences the overall approach to the home’s layout, both inside and out. Seeking a departure from their traditional home up north, the clients envision a more relaxed, family-focused atmosphere for this golf course oasis. u

Front Elevation & Entry: “The hip roof, tongue-and-groove soffits, and corbels reveal the home’s West Indies roots, while the horizontal stainless steel cable railing and wood-look cladding introduce a contemporary flair. Even the landscape is minimalistic, says John Cooney of Stofft Cooney Architects. The walkway begins at the center of the curved driveway, where sleek bubbler fountains and lush palms frame the entry. The sustainable cladding from Resysta beautifully complements the exterior, which is painted in Snowbound by Sherwin-Williams. The white paint with gray undertones beautifully complements the roof tiles and pavers.

Staircase: The sleek staircase, crafted by Florida Stairworks & Carpentry, makes a striking statement atop the white oak flooring. The client envisioned a bold focal point, prompting Ged to mock up several designs before selecting an ornate bronze urn. “A true test of a designer’s versatility is integrating heirloom pieces,” says Ged. “Any designer can create a coordinated look, but incorporating standout pieces like the urn, ensuring they align in scale, hue, material, and the client’s vision, elevates the design to a new level.” This staircase embodies the architectural essence of the home, blending modern lines with traditional tropical features. Ged designs a full two-story high feature wall clad in stone from Porcelanosa and illuminated from above and below. The wall features two 85-inch televisions integrated into it, where family photos on display like artwork cycle continuously as a conversation piece. Ged describes the natural look white oak beams above as a transitional element for the space.

“When I discovered a structural steel post, I added two faux posts on either side to make it look intentional, blending it seamlessly into the glass wall design,”
Director of Interior

Design

Adriene Ged of EDGE details.

Office: By transforming the drywall into a striking glass wall, ample light floods the hallway. “When I discovered a structural steel post, I added two faux posts on either side to make it look intentional, blending it seamlessly into the glass wall design,” Ged details. Inside, she selects a bold walnut wood veneer wallcovering from Phillip Jeffries and pairs it with a slate chandelier from Hubbardton Forge for a distinctly edgy vibe.

Living Room: “One of the architectural highlights of the living room is the fixed glass windows along the back wall,” says Diamond. “We felt pool access here would detract from the room’s formality, so instead, these expansive windows create a stunning, uninterrupted view.” Ged has created a stunning entertainment wall that elegantly showcases espresso-stained cabinetry from EDGE. This sophisticated design is beautifully complemented by large-format porcelain tiles from Neolith. An exquisite area rug from The Rug Company anchors the furnishings, featuring custom Kravet sofas and two Chaddock Furniture chairs.

Diamond collaborates with top-tier professionals to bring this estate to life, partnering with EDGE, where Director of Interior Design

Adriene Ged infuses the client’s personality into every detail, and with renowned Architect John Cooney of Stofft Cooney Architects, who anchors the open-concept estate in a West Indies style with contemporary flair. Defined by sleek lines and tropical influences, the home’s exterior establishes a cohesive design language that seamlessly flows into the foyer.

Inside, Ged personalizes each space, from a striking bronze urn in the stairwell to custom artwork in the elegantly comfortable primary bedroom. She also refines the layouts of the primary bathroom and kitchen pantry through strategic space planning. These curated touches enhance functionality, complement the architectural vision, and ensure the home reflects both luxury and individuality. u

Ged intentionally repeats the espresso stain from the living room on the kitchen island to add depth and contrast, highlighting the perimeter cabinetry from EDGE in Chantilly Lace. Quartzite from UMI Stone introduces visual movement across horizontal and vertical planes, while Viking appliances balance style and function. Other spaces feature crystal and gold fixtures, while the black pendants from Lighting First add contrast, subtly complementing the gold accents.

Ged’s commitment to her craft shines in the living room, where custom furniture complements the space’s grand proportions, creating an inviting atmosphere. “Every detail was carefully considered,” Ged explains. “I chose those chairs because their backs are visually interesting and are the first thing you see upon entering.” By choosing the chair fabric later in the design process, Ged hand-selects a fabric that incorporates the overall color palette. The synergy between sister companies Diamond Custom Homes and EDGE combines masterful construction, custom cabinetry, full-service design, and bespoke closets. This collaboration enables intricate designs and sophisticated focal points, such as the exquisite living room wall installation and the dynamic wine bar near the dining room. u

Breakfast Nook: Strategically positioned near the wine bar, the coffee bar becomes a seamless extension of the kitchen’s design. Ged ingeniously transforms the breakfast nook with a meticulously crafted, fully integrated coffee station featuring a state-of-the-art built-in Miele coffee maker, elevating form and function in this culinary space. With black frame glass-front cabinets, this coffee bar becomes a striking showcase. The table from Furniture Classics stands as a true centerpiece, featuring a warm, rustic top trimmed with a champagne metal collar, which beautifully complements the black and brass chandelier from Arteriors.

Wine Bar & Dining Room: The wood tones remain cohesive with this table selected from Vanguard Furniture, as the skirts on the dining chairs evoke the breezy vibe of the Florida coast. This wine bar is the pinnacle example of the team’s excellence. Two Sub-Zero wine columns flank the corking station and the lit shelf. Ged explains, “Crafting this wine bar with its LED-lit glass shelf was complex, yet incredibly rewarding. By collaborating with our in-house cabinetry division, we perfect every detail.”

Primary Bedroom: Adopting a more formal aesthetic, this design incorporates traditional elements such as the painted white beam work and a stunning tufted bed from Adriana Hoyos. Contemporary accents — like the chairs from Hickory Chair and the nightstand lamps sourced through Naples Lamp Shop — balance the space creating an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication. Ged crafts a soft color palette of neutrals, complemented by touches of sage and gold, and commissions artwork from artist Tim O’Toole that enhances the room’s comfortable elegance.

Primary Bathroom: To align with the client’s vision of an elevated, spa-like retreat, Ged thoughtfully creates a Euro-shower experience that immediately draws the eye upon entering.

The sleek MTI Baths tub from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery, paired with a gleaming chrome filler installed by Tru-Flo Plumbing, is beautifully centered beneath a frosted window. The custom frameless glass enclosure is crafted by Builders Glass of Bonita, along with the custom vanity mirrors. With its subtle veining, White Dolomite allows key features like the tub and dark cabinetry vanities to stand out as distinctive design elements.

VIP EnSuite: Understated elegance flows from the soft, neutral palette, with layered textures in the bedding, artwork, and a Surya rug that contribute depth and sophistication. The two-tone bed from Bernhardt Furniture further enriches the space with its warm wooden tones. The ensuite continues this notion with white oak cabinetry and custom mirrors made of the same material. With a walk-in shower featuring a custom enclosure sourced through Builders Glass of Bonita and custom vanity mirrors, this bathroom combines practicality with an airy design, offering a luxurious retreat for VIPs.

Adjacent to the main living areas, the home unveils a sophisticated club room designed for both entertainment and relaxation. Outfitted with a state-of-the-art golf simulator, this versatile space radiates a chic, nightclub-inspired ambiance. “Club rooms have evolved, and the golf simulator feels like a natural addition here in this golf course estate,” notes Cooney. Just steps from the club room, the space opens onto the pool deck, welcoming guests into an extensive outdoor oasis. Landscape Architect Christian Andrea of Architectural Land Design shares, “With the generous lot size, we had room to be inventive, integrating grade changes and unique outdoor destinations, like the tranquil living plant wall beside a cascading water feature.”

This level of expertise defines a landmark project as Diamond Custom Homes marks their 15year milestone, showcasing their commitment to quality with a masterpiece that is, indeed, a ‘hole-in-one.’ n

Club Room: To craft a lively bar featuring a Full Swing Golf Simulator, Diamond and Ged take a creative approach, raising the ceiling elements for a sleek vibe and recessing the floor mat for a smooth transition. The vibrant wallcovering wraps around the space, radiating a chic ambiance, enhanced by Ged’s bespoke gold-piping and glass shelf from Palmer Industries and a plush velvet club chair from Taylor King, inviting guests to unwind in this entertainment haven.

Live Wall Detail: The vibrant green wall from GrowUp Greenwalls serves as a striking backdrop to the infinity-edge fountain and teak bench, adding life and texture that echo the surrounding landscape. Andrea explains the hardscape: “The channels in the hardscape create supersized stepping stones. This design breaks up large masses of pavement, acting as a segue between patios and subtly defining each space.” Chaise lounges from Ledge Lounger offer the perfect spot to soak in this vibrant, relaxing scene.

Lanai & Outdoor Kitchen: Ged describes this outdoor space as casual and family-friendly, featuring a continuous porcelain tile that transitions seamlessly into the pool coping, creating a clean, unified look. To address maintenance concerns with soot build-up above the grill area, Ged selects a darker-toned, wipeable tile in lieu of stucco. The ambiance remains casual and family-friendly, with an extra-wide, nap-ready sectional, a ceiling fan, and motorized hurricane shutters and insect screens from Castle Services of Southwest Florida that extend the indoor comforts to this inviting outdoor retreat.

Outdoor Living: A striking metal shed roof above the club room creates a distinctive architectural feature. Below, bi-fold glass doors from Andersen Windows & Doors, sourced through Florida Wood Window and Door, open wide to enhance the connection to the outdoor living space. “When they’re open, it feels like a slider, but closed, they’re more beautiful like a French door,” notes Diamond. With custom architectural details, the second-floor balcony with railings from Castle Services of Southwest Florida offers stunning golf course views, creating an elegant connection to the scenic surroundings. The Bahama shutters are also from Castle Services of Southwest Florida.

Aerial: “We like to break up the architecture with different wings and bearing heights, resulting in a series of hip roofs. By carefully controlling the size of these roofs, we achieve that elegant architectural balance,” details Cooney. From above, the breathtaking outdoor landscape reveals its many retreats, such as the cozy sunken fire pit, while others invite relaxation by the pool, featuring an exquisite indigo pool pebble finish. This idyllic setting is beautifully complemented by vibrant greenery and is truly a golf course oasis.

URBAN ELEGANCE

REIMAGINING OLD NAPLES THROUGH CONTEMPORARY DESIGN

IIconic design moments shape this refined, contemporary home in Old Naples. Tasked by Mike Assaad, President of Waterside Builders, to create “something completely different,” Architectural Designer Tim Leard of MHK Architecture embraces a contemporary aesthetic that subtly reflects coastal influences. From Jeffrey Fisher Home, Principal Interior Designer Jeffrey Fisher and Interior Designer Eddie Morgan bring an urbaninspired edge to the interior. u

Front Elevation: “We’ve crafted a soft, contemporary composition with subtle coastal references, incorporating elements like Bahama shutters and horizontal siding,” says Leard. Alabaster from Sherwin-Williams is the backdrop for the darker shutters, entry doors, and window frames. “The landscape design emphasizes an open, unobstructed view to highlight the home beautifully,” says Senior Project Manager Phil McHenry of Architectural Land Design. Varied heights of foliage add texture and verdant colors to soften the clean lines of the architecture and the driveway pavers.

Foyer Vignette: This arrangement is a quintessential moment that embodies the home’s aesthetic. Inspired by the Japanese wave, the bronze DeMuro Das console feels sleek and organic, while the Sarreid brass-plated mirror contrasts with the console’s clean lines, adding depth and visual interest. The sculptural, curved chair completes the scene, its shapely silhouette softening the overall composition, while each carefully chosen accessory invites contemplation.

“I love designing a room where you can’t tell if it was created yesterday or ten years ago,” Principal Interior Designer Jeffrey Fisher of Jeffrey Fisher Home shares, underscoring his approach for fresh but storied spaces with an architectural influence.

“The design iterations led us away from a cottage style toward a more contemporary aesthetic,” says Assaad, “and what we achieved is exactly what we envisioned.” On the exterior, a contemporary I-beam awning paired with a sleek rain chain near the entry door marks the first of many compelling design moments. “The way the exterior stairs spill out from the entry, combined with views of the interior staircase, reinforces the connection between indoors and outdoors like an abstract, continuous pinwheel,” shares John Orgren, Residential Studio Designer at MHK Architecture. This architectural fluidity aligns with Fisher’s vision, encouraging opportunities for pause and appreciation through design details that embody visual and architectural interest. As Fisher shares, “With this house, we looked through the lens of, ‘What if the architect was doing all the finishing details?’”

This approach reveals itself immediately with thoughtful integrations like the foyer, staircase, and office. “I love designing a room where you can’t tell if it was created yesterday or ten years ago,” Fisher shares, underscoring his approach for fresh but storied spaces with an architectural influence. This sensibility shines in the dining room, where the architectural lens yields an awe-inspiring space. A backlit onyx installation, adorned with accessories that invite storytelling, pairs with a tassel light fixture to create a masterful experience. u

Family Room: The family room embraces seamless indoor-outdoor living with a large-scale folding glass wall system from Andersen Windows & Doors sourced through Florida Wood Window and Door that opens completely, connecting the kitchen, living area, and outdoor entertaining spaces. The furniture arrangement — centered around a sleek Old Biscayne Designs cocktail table — faces a striking black granite feature with bold white veining grounded by French oak flooring that adds warmth and continuity across the open, airy space.

Office & Staircase: An open-riser oak staircase with glass railing introduces an airy, inviting feel to the entryway. The paper-blossom Kenneth Cobonpue chandelier is a striking feature within the stairwell, visible from inside and through the windows. At the base, a sleek, glass-enclosed office with diagonal sliding barn doors sourced through Builders Glass of Bonita completes this architectural moment. This unique workspace balances functionality with Fisher’s refined touch, featuring curated furnishings and layered patterns that bring warmth and character.

Kitchen: At the center of the kitchen, a faceted Calacatta Matarazzo dolomite island brings an architectural edge, complemented by a striking antique brass finished hood. Cerused oak cabinetry with satin brass hardware adds a final touch of timeless sophistication. “A back kitchen is a popular trend for keeping countertop appliances out of sight,” Orgren says. “Our kitchens are works of art, so it’s nice to keep the focus on that beauty.”

Bar & Dining Room: “We’re never shy of a light fixture,” Fisher notes, explaining the impact of this spectacular 44-inch chandelier from M2C Studio. Its scale and dye-dipped tassels, which fade from aubergine to wheat, command attention. Beneath it, a round Vanguard Furniture table completes the arrangement, chosen for its inviting round shape that keeps everyone in the conversation Natural wood and copper accessories complement the glowing onyx, adding warmth and subtle contrast that allows the stone’s illuminated beauty to take center stage.

The kitchen makes a bold statement with its faceted marble island and angular pendants that mirror the home’s clean-lined architecture, while the metallic hood finished with a luxurious patina leaves a lasting impression. This sophistication extends into the adjoining family space, where a welcoming, open layout invites relaxation. “The fireplace, built with granite slabs and white veining, stands out as a key feature of the room,” says Assaad. “The sliding glass doors open fully, connecting the inside to the courtyard.” u

Primary Bedroom: A warm glow of blushy-orchid through sheer drapery casts a delicate hue, echoing the soft, billowy pattern of the mural wallcovering from Phillip Jeffries. Wooden elements ground this airy, uplifting space, embodied by the butterfly artwork from artist Juan Carlos Collada — each silk butterfly hand-painted, dyed, and carefully arranged. Decorative pillows on the contemporary upholstered bed add splashes of plum atop the white coverlet, while photography by Hilda Champion faces the bed for a final artistic touch.

Here, the private courtyard comes into view, seamlessly blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living spaces. From the lanai, the subtle trickle from the water features adds a calming ambiance, while lush landscaping provides privacy. “What we created here is a bit unique,” says Senior Project Manager Phil McHenry of Architectural Land Design. “It was truly a team effort. We wanted this breezeway to feel like a little destination, separate from the main outdoor living space. Crossing the pool deck to reach it enhances its sense of seclusion and makes it feel like a special destination.” This unexpected moment adds depth to the home.

A captivating scene unfolds in the primary bedroom, where custom art pieces and a serene palette of blushy neutrals, aubergine, and marmalade create a calming atmosphere. Through the wall of windows, the eye is drawn across the pool to the breezeway, blending indoor serenity with outdoor allure. This design translates to an overall experience where each corner reveals a moment of interest, highlighting the thoughtful curation of architecture and detail. n

Primary Bathroom: Fisher carries the same onyx pattern porcelain sourced through Ruben Sorhegui Tile across the floor and walls of this open-concept shower. The seamless integration is enhanced by a custom frameless glass enclosure crafted by Builders Glass of Bonita, featuring ultra-clear glass panels and minimalist hardware that maintain the shower’s airy feel while containing water splash. The tub’s tapered vessel shape creates a sense of visual openness, allowing glimpses of the surrounding wall and preventing it from dominating the corner. The walnut wood vanity is topped with an exquisite quartz countertop and dramatic apron — above is the lit mirror by Electric Mirror, sourced through Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery.

VIP Suite: Situated above the garage, this secluded suite feels like a private retreat. “It’s like its own guest house,” notes Orgren. Here, Fisher embraces texture and a neutral palette. Above the Ambella Home bed, a raffia wall piece centers a striking composition, flanked by fringe-detailed Noir nightstands. Rich-hued artwork complements the laptop workspace, while an open-air catwalk connects the suite to the main house, preserving indoor-outdoor flow and offering views over the pool.

Powder Room: Vintage Wine by Benjamin Moore adds depth and warmth to the door casing and baseboards, epitomizing an intensified expression of the home’s blush accents. Fisher envelops the room in a silky wallcovering from Innovations USA; it transitions subtly from deep aubergine to a soft orchid. An art light above the mirror enhances the textured ombré effect, while a backlit onyx counter and backsplash — matching the onyx in the nearby bar — establish a cohesive, luminous connection.

Loft: Leard describes the vaulted, wood-clad ceiling as “trademark MHK” — the coastal touch to this urban interior. Fisher introduces pattern and interest with a LEE Industries sofa, while two club chairs provide a neutral backdrop for exquisite checkered green velvet pillows. A distinct feature in the loft is the game table and console, featuring a Christopher Guy mirror with radiant jade batons. Accented by an urn lamp from Arteriors and totem sculptures from Asian Loft, this corner exudes world-traveler charm.

Breezeway: Rather than just a passageway, Fisher transforms the breezeway into a destination — a cozy retreat framed by retro-inspired Villa Lagoon Tile breeze blocks and sheltered by a warm, wood-look ceiling in Natural Amber from Versatex Building Products. “Why not make it functional and inviting?” Fisher reflects. Patterned pillows on the swing from Low Country add playful energy, creating a layered space rich in texture and pattern, inviting all who walk through this iconic setting to linger.

Lanai & Pool: “It’s the visual variety within each piece that resonates, and the mix of textures and forms brings the space to life in a way that feels just right,” Fisher explains. The all-weather woven Four Hands dining chairs and a sculptural Palecek cocktail table bring a subtle retro vibe, balanced by the bold Black Vermont Riverwash granite wall and cozy fireplace. McHenry enhances the landscape with a serene trickle wall adorned in Agate Moyou Lunada Bay Tile glass tiles.

For a timeless wall feature, Interior Designer Sherie Weidner of Clive Daniel Home artfully combines classic materials with contemporary design. The exquisite Abu Dhabi White stone, featuring a luxurious silk finish from Neolith, elegantly spans the wall, complemented by striking floor-to-ceiling wood inlays that boast contemporary styling. Weidner introduces a sculpture from The Phillips Collection, sourced from the Clive Daniel Home showroom and expresses, “Its ancient essence harmonizes the past and present, evoking a sense of timeless history, while its simple and stately color enhances the overall design.”

Entry: “Iron and gold accents feature prominently throughout the home,” Weidner notes, highlighting the striking oblong Mariana Home pendant sourced from Wilson Lighting, which pairs beautifully with the radial black iron balustrade. The staircase, clad in white oak with a mahogany stain, includes a cleverly concealed door leading to hidden storage. Art pieces from the clients’ collection are integrated into the stairwell, adding layers of meaning and personality to the space.

ENDURING STYLE

CLASSIC CONTEMPORARY ELEGANCE USES TRENDS AS TOOLS, NOT RULES

IInterior Designer Sherie Weidner of Clive Daniel Home masterfully creates a custom interior that feels current, personal, and enduring. Balancing the clients’ traditional style with a Florida feel, Weidner employs a classical-contemporary approach, incorporating trends that enhance individuality rather than dictate the design.

“Classical-contemporary blends traditional elements into a contemporary home, emphasizing classic motifs,” explains Weidner, who draws inspiration from the homeowners’ travels and style rooted in English decor. Weidner incorporates trends like ‘bookshelf wealth,’ a display of personal memorabilia and modern accessories, and weaves in aspects of the Japandi style, known for its blend of Japanese and Scandinavian interiors. u

Dining Room: The herringbone floor pattern directs the eye toward the view out of the sliding glass doors. Overlooking this dining area is a stunning aviary photograph by Dennis Goodman, which emphasizes the tropical setting. Weidner intentionally incorporates rounded edges, highlighting the detail on this table from Baker Furniture. It is surrounded by durable faux leather chairs from Designmaster Furniture. Weidner completes this space with a natural material and brass-accented chandelier from Hudson Valley Lighting.

Great Room: Two swivel chairs from Baker Furniture greet you as you walk into the great room — chosen for their complementary wood tone and architectural appeal. In the kitchen, Weidner enriches the wood floor by running it in a herringbone pattern. This detailed floor pattern complements the chevron motif of the Kravet drapery fabric. The space is further enhanced with a customized sectional from Rene Cazares, and is paired with sleek taupe end tables from Adriana Hoyos.

Pantry: A striking harlequin-patterned floor in asphalt and white is an homage to classic European design — a bold element that ties the design’s historical context to its contemporary design. The full-service pantry features a Sub-Zero refrigerator and plenty of space for bar accessories. Weidner creates a focal interest point with this custom gold and glass shelf from Palmer Industries atop a grasscloth wallcovering from Phillip Jeffries, flanked by antique brass sconces.

Kitchen: Mingling metal finishes is a trend Weidner projects to continue because mixing various shades of gold endows a decadent aesthetic. To illustrate, she pairs the warm bronze on the counter stools from Palecek with bright plumbing fixtures and even a third gold hue on the pendants from Arteriors. The kitchen showcases Calacatta Luxe from Neolith, accented by light mahogany cabinetry under the island. Soothing white cabinetry from Design Works adds a moment of pause to the delightful movement of the Neolith countertops and full height backsplash.

The entryway of the home beautifully blends classical and contemporary styles, featuring a circular staircase railing. “In design, looks and aesthetics often cycle back,” says Weidner. This railing, reminiscent of the 1920s, revives traditional oval ironwork. Beneath the staircase is a cleverly disguised storage room clad in a light mahogany, mirroring the wood finish on the living room wall feature. “We tested countless samples to ensure the light mahogany stain felt right in each space, regardless of the wood type,” Weidner shares.

The great room wall feature emphasizes the project’s core narrative that trends rooted in historical principles have exceptional staying power. Designed with an elegant blend of timeless materials such as marble and wood, it reflects her clients’ desire for a stately yet practical home. “This isn’t a bookcase you clutter up,” Weidner remarks. “It’s clean and will remain a statement piece for decades.”

The home’s open floor plan caters to both entertaining and family living, with the kitchen reflecting the showpiece quality of the great room. The kitchen design captures an aesthetic derived from these two distinct trends: ‘mixed metals’ and the Japandi style. Varying shades and intensities of gold punctuate the space, while Weidner uses Japandi principles, crafting hidden spice racks tucked behind a sleek stone-clad door to blend practicality with elegance. The pantry, featuring a historically inspired harlequin-patterned floor, demonstrates Weidner’s talent for merging classic elements within a contemporary interior. u

Primary Bedroom: From EJ Victor, a bouclé-upholstered bed pairs with luxurious Ann Gish and Peacock Alley bedding, flanked by nightstands from Clive Daniel Home. The rounded edges and warm mahogany finish of the nightstands enhance the organic feel, while gold accents add a contemporary touch. Above, old iron and fruitwood pendants from Currey & Company complement sleek gold reading lights, combining function and style. Weidner notes the floral artwork’s sepia tone blends femininity with masculinity, completing the zen-like bedroom with a harmonious balance of elements. Closets not pictured were designed and installed by California Closets.

Primary Bathroom: “Using one material streamlines the design and is easier on the eye,” says Weidner, referencing the Dekton in Lucid Onirika from Cosentino, which is utilized extensively throughout the space for flooring, countertops, backsplash, and shower walls. This ultra-compact surface creates a cohesive, luxurious aesthetic while offering durability and low maintenance. “It’s elegant and extremely high-end,” Weidner adds, noting how the Dekton’s versatility allows for seamless transitions between applications. The design extends wood tones up the wall, complementing Dekton’s dreamlike pattern. High-polished chrome and black finishes add variety, while an acrylic table from Torta pairs beautifully with the Signature Hardware freestanding soaking tub from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery. To maintain a clean look, Weidner opts for an opaque sunshade that offers privacy without obstructing views, enhancing the Bathroom’s serene atmosphere.

Throughout the home, a tone-on-tone palette enhances this understated elegance, subtly echoing the calming influence of Japandi style. The primary bedroom and bathroom showcase this approach, featuring streamlined surfaces crafted from a single material. In the secondary bedrooms, Weidner adds, “It’s about mixing elements that won’t go out of style.” Shades of blue serve as accent colors throughout the home, ranging from pale azure to deep teal and navy, adding depth and variety while maintaining a cohesive palette. She continues, “We used blue in each space but shifted the shades to suit the room’s mood and purpose.”

The offices reflect individuality through curated details such as travel memorabilia and personal items. “It’s more acceptable for a room to feel imperfect rather than perfectly coordinated,” Weidner shares. “It’s about the meaning and memories behind the elements.” By integrating timeless design elements with individuals’ styles and trends, Weidner creates an aesthetic that’s a testament to the enduring power of thoughtful, personalized design. n

Guest Bedrooms: Each bedroom in this home is uniquely tailored while maintaining a cohesive classical-contemporary theme. Guest Bedroom 4 features earthy tones paired with a traditional wallcovering from Antonina Vella and contemporary furnishings, creating a serene retreat. Guest Bedroom 3 embraces a nautical influence, showcasing bold blue accents and a sleek bed from CVW Furniture. Guest Bedroom 2 softens the palette with peach, pearl, and pastel hues fostering a tranquil, contemporary ambiance.

“We used blue in each space but shifted the shades to suit the room’s mood and purpose,” states Interior Designer Sherie Weidner of Clive Daniel Home.

Guest EnSuite: The Saddax Collection area rug from Clive Daniel Home features grays, blues, and whites, inspiring Weidner to choose a rich charcoal hue for the headboard wallcovering. Rounded corners enhance the seating arrangement, with subtle variations in the colorway appearing on the pillow. The ensuite exudes a traditional feel, featuring brick-laid subway tiles with darker grout in the shower. Black Dekton countertops and high-gloss black marble flooring create a dramatic, polished look, while the cabinetry by Design Works introduces warmth with its soft wood tones.

His & Hers Offices: The color of the cabinetry inspires Weidner to immerse his office in that same shade, applying it to both the walls and ceiling. The stunning Guanacaste wood desk from Four Hands is accentuated by a rug that features a blend of green, blue, and taupe hues. In contrast, her office features a lighter palette, white oak cabinetry, and upper cabinets in Origami White from SherwinWilliams. Delicate forms are a highlight, like this beehive-inspired Yahara chandelier from Arteriors Home, while inviting rosy and cream hues appear on the valance.

UNIQUE APPROACH

A CAPTIVATING WELCOME BEYOND THE OVERALL DESIGN

Front Façade: Lisa Ficarra, Principal of Ficarra Design Associates, appreciates the combination of different materials and credits Architect John Cooney of Stofft Cooney Architects for his ability to create a striking aesthetic through diverse material usage. She notes that his thoughtful placement of accents enhances the overall appearance, particularly with the stone details around the large window and the curated accents on the garage’s front and side walls. “The addition of natural stone cladding, an abundance of glass, and contemporary details give this tropical home a more contemporary edge that you may see in this area,” Cooney explains. The dramatic color palette of white walls, black accents, and gray roof tiles creates a bold yet cohesive exterior with a timeless, modern appeal.

Staircase: “The clients wanted a floating stair that was visible from the front elevation,” Cooney notes. “We designed a floor-to-ceiling window wall with a modern, mono-stringer stair that floats in front of the glass.” The staircase features dark espresso treads paired with dramatic black iron railings, harmonizing beautifully with the black-painted interior of the front door from Andersen Windows & Doors, sourced through Florida Wood Window and Door. Anchoring the space is a large custom artwork by local artist Danny Geschardt, which serves as a unique focal point. The interplay of dark wood, black metal, and lighter walls creates a stunning and cohesive aesthetic that delights the clients.

MMoving from Royal Harbor to Port Royal may not cover a vast area, but it represents a significant upgrade in lifestyle for these homeowners. Their new 6,000 square foot residence boasts 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, providing ample space for entertaining. As semi-retired empty nesters, they enjoy the luxury of a private dock for their boat, allowing easy access to the Gulf.

The wife’s design aesthetic favors a contemporary setting with a neutral color palette of creams, taupes, and blacks. To realize this vision, they collaborated closely with Architect John Cooney of Stofft Cooney Architects and Lisa Ficarra, Principal of Ficarra Design Associates. Ficarra’s contemporary style, which they had admired in her previous designs, particularly appealed to them. “They love interesting elements as long as the space is simple, uncluttered, and functional,” Ficarra explains. “At the same time, they also wanted really great design.” u

Dining Room: The dining table’s dark mahogany top is paired with an elegant hourglass-shaped base finished in high-gloss white, creating a striking contrast. Vanguard Furniture dining chairs with dark espresso-finished legs are upholstered in off-white textured fabric, adding sophistication to the setting. “I like the taper in the back of the chairs — it adds a subtle sway,” Ficarra says. “I envisioned this as a nice, simple, and clean look for the space.” The area is beautifully illuminated by a sleek, contemporary light fixture from Visual Comfort, enhancing both style and functionality.

Kitchen: The SOHO Kitchens and Design paneled oak cabinetry harmonizes with the custom drop ceiling while discreetly concealing appliances sourced from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery. This kitchen boasts quartzite countertops with a 2.5-inch mitered edge, elegantly cascading in a dramatic waterfall design and complemented by intricate grooved picture frame detailing adorning the sides of each island. One island is designed for seating, enhanced by pendant fixtures from Visual Comfort, while the other serves as a practical workspace complete with a sink. The range hood, crafted from textured white sandblasted glass and framed with 4-inch stainless steel trim, adds an elegant touch. Accent lighting highlights a decorative wall feature above the cooktop, further enhancing the kitchen’s overall aesthetic.

Living Room: The centerpiece of the living room is an impressive 80-inch-long fireplace, complete with a sleek black granite shelf designed to support a custom heavy sculpture. Behind the fireplace, a striking black chipped slate wall creates a dramatic backdrop, extending from floor to ceiling. The fireplace surround features beautifully crafted limestone tiles with wave-like patterns sourced from Artistic Tile. “I designed the fireplace wall to be asymmetrical to complement the overall layout of the great room, allowing my clients to prominently display their custom metal sculpture on the left,” explains Ficarra. The seating arrangement includes elegantly curvedback Adriana Hoyos chairs, which feature a textured upper portion and a white washable fabric base. The design palette harmoniously blends gray, taupe, dark brown, and black, reflecting the client’s sophisticated and cohesive aesthetic.

The team focused intently on incorporating special elements and innovative uses of materials. They carefully considered every surface to ensure maximum design impact. “Many rooms in the home have unique, contemporary ceiling designs that delineate the spaces and provide an edgy character,” notes Cooney. “These designs are not overly complex but they emphasize clean, modern details.”

The kitchen and stairwell showcase exceptional ceiling designs. Ficarra designed a drop ceiling in the kitchen incorporating a light shelf above, providing ambient lighting and a dramatic evening effect. Constructed from quarter-sawn oak veneer with dark reveals, it forms a striking geometric pattern while accommodating task lighting over the working island and eye-catching pendants above the seating island. The stairwell, in contrast, features a five-level, stair-stepped ceiling culminating in an almost black crescendo, drawing the eye upward. u

Wet Bar: The homeowners love to entertain, so a strategically placed wet bar just off the lanai is an ideal transitional space from indoors to outdoors. With its bold veining, the stunning blue quartzite waterfall countertop evokes the beauty of ocean waves, while the grasscloth wallcovering enhances the room’s texture and warmth. Ficarra chose open metal shelving for an eye-catching display of bottles, and a dark bronze pendant light from Hubbardton Forge hangs gracefully between the robust walnut ceiling beams. There’s also a high-top table in the space to ensure ample seating.

Office: Situated near the entrance, the study combines privacy with accessibility, featuring closable doors that still provide views into the living area. This design balances functionality and style, catering to the client’s passion for fine French wines and Champagne through a dual-access wine display. This special feature allows the collection to be enjoyed from both the husband’s study and the adjacent living area. Striking cabinetry, crafted by SOHO Kitchens and Design, showcases rift white oak with dark black iron-accented glass doors. Adding to the room’s sophistication is a fumed eucalyptus ceiling accent, stained dark and seamlessly integrated into a light shelf for a refined aesthetic.

Primary Bathroom: The clients love the black Ruben Sorhegui Tile prominently featured in the primary bathroom. This space showcases a variety of applications of the tile, including the main floor tile, a striking feature wall at the back of the shower, and a mosaic design on the shower floor. Flanking each side of the room are long floating vanities with a sleek profile and a warm brown finish sourced through SOHO Kitchens and Design, complemented by Pompeii Quartz countertops. At the center of the bathroom is an oversized, glass-enclosed shower that provides access from both sides, and the contemporary aesthetic is enhanced by a custom wall treatment.

Primary Bedroom: “John designed this vaulted ceiling to maximize ceiling height on the first floor while still maintaining reasonable heights on the second floor,” Ficarra explains. “This presented a fantastic opportunity for me to create something contemporary that I had never attempted before. I incorporated walnut panels with reveals at the four angles of the ceiling, and the result is stunning!” The dark walnut finish adds a bold, modern touch. “I always try to create a unique ceiling or wall detail in each room — something that I haven’t designed before,” Ficarra adds. Completing the design are two Christian Liaigre lounge chairs, a Hickory Chair bed featuring a subtly curved headboard, and off-white linen draperies adorned with a delicate pattern.

The home’s contemporary style incorporates deep, dark woods, black metal and tile accents, and striking graphic prints in both fabric and artwork. Meanwhile, the thoughtfully chosen furnishings and space planning create a warm, inviting atmosphere that the homeowners desire in their new home.

The exterior is distinctive among its neighbors, featuring an exceptional blend of materials and an entrance that includes a floor-to-roofline window, elegantly framing the modern interior staircase. A water feature runs alongside and beneath the open-riser entrance stairs. Christian Andrea — Landscape Architect at Architectural Land Design — who designed the front and back areas, notes, “The home has water features on either side of the front door with open stair risers. The water flows underneath the stairs, and it’s very unique.” n

“I always try to create a unique ceiling or wall detail in each room — something that I haven’t designed before,”

Lisa Ficarra, Principal of Ficarra Design Associates adds.

Lounge & Wet Bar: The upstairs lounge serves as a central gathering space for guests, featuring dark espresso beams that create a dramatic and elegant frame for an impressive piece of artwork. The space is open and functional, with access to four bedrooms, an exercise room, and a beautiful balcony. A custom console table sits beneath the artwork. A lovely rug anchors the Kravet sectional around a leather cocktail table with a sliding tray. Across the room is a small wet bar with quarter-sawn oak cabinetry and a Crystallo countertop, mirroring design elements from other home areas to provide continuity.

VIP Guest Room: The guest room features a cozy shag rug from Stanton Carpet, which adds warmth and loads of texture. The bed includes gray taupe oak wood accents on the front panel and side legs, mirroring the bench’s design at its foot. The upholstered Vanguard headboard is covered in a textured gray and taupe fabric with a subtle striped pattern, adding a touch of sophistication. The room is kept light and airy, with soft lighting and neutral tones, complemented by a pop of accent color in the artwork above the dresser for added personality. The adjacent bathroom features a 6-inch Cristallo countertop with an integrated trough sink and the same Ruben Sorhegui Tile for the floor as in the primary bathroom.

Guest Bathroom: For simplicity, a single-lit mirror replaces the dual mirrors, contrasted by a textured vinyl wall covering in the guest bathroom. It features a stone countertop with drop-in sinks, stylish fixtures, wood shelves, and a high backsplash with Kallista wall-mounted polished chrome faucets.

Guest Bedroom: This contemporary guest bedroom design features two-tone gray nightstands, complemented by a blue-gray striated rug and matching pillows. The walls are painted in City Loft — a Benjamin Moore color used throughout the home — with a simple ceiling step, ample lighting from corner windows, and a transom style over the bed.

Outdoor Living: This thoughtfully crafted outdoor area creates an innovative, versatile living space by seamlessly connecting three distinct zones. The design elegantly bridges indoor comfort with outdoor practicality, transforming the exterior into a functional and inviting environment. A sophisticated kitchen area with appliances from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery highlights a striking culinary setup featuring a custom-designed hood with stainless steel reveals and a cement-like finish. The kitchen’s design features a striking stone wall, with gray countertops highlighted by subtle blue undertones, while black granite elements provide a solid base for the flooring and surrounding surfaces. Adjacent to this culinary zone, a spacious dining area accommodates eight guests with JANUS et Cie seating. Fluidly transitioning, a cozy sitting area is anchored by Century Furniture and enhanced by a fireplace and a television mounted on a textured black stacked stone wall from Ruben Sorhegui Tile. Motorized hurricane shutters and motorized insect screens, sourced through Castle Services of Southwest Florida, ensure that this outdoor living space remains comfortable and usable year-round.

Rear Elevation: The luxury pool deck area was designed with low maintenance in mind. The homeowners want to spend time enjoying it, not maintaining the space.

“We have water rippling on three sides of the spa,” Andrea says. “As you walk down the stairs, you’re walking past a very narrow vanishing edge, giving a floating water effect. As it spills over into the trough, there’s a series of bubbler fountains between the steppingstones, providing a neat way of transitioning across the pool deck.”

The space strategically employs podocarpus plantings as a natural visual divider.

“The podocarpus acts as a visual barrier subconsciously helping you recognize the edge of the deck,” Andrea says.

CRAFTING LUXURY

THE SYNERGY OF DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION IN A U-SHAPED SPEC HOME

Randi Scott, Owner and Lead Designer of R & Co. Designs calls this custom chandelier from Restoration Hardware “its own art installation,” with each glass bauble individually hung. The 14-foot island features Mont Blanc quartzite, which she uses to frame the black cabinetry on the hood wall and extends into the backsplash with an integrated spice shelf.

Above, Scott designs a striking custom hood, selecting zinc for its striated appearance. To add softness to the sleek kitchen, she incorporates counter stools in bouclé fabric.

TThe collaboration between Randi Scott, Owner and Lead Designer of R & Co. Designs, and Parker Borelli of Borelli Construction of Naples redefines the possibilities of a spec home. Their commitment to creating tailored living spaces transforms this property into an exquisite residence.

With 15 years of interior design experience, Scott notes, “We love hearing clients’ personal stories and weaving them into spaces.” Even without a specific client, she ensures the home’s design reflects purpose and elegance. Borelli Construction of Naples, a family-owned business since 1979, concentrates on a limited number of projects to ensure meticulous attention to detail. “There are features you wouldn’t typically see in a spec house, but we want someone to love it just the way it is,” Borelli shares.

Borelli builds a U-shaped house that hugs the outdoor areas on three sides, creating a secluded private oasis. While the exterior is more modern, Borelli doesn’t consider it extreme. The deep accents and sleek garage doors set a modern precedent, but overall, the architecture is dynamic, undulating, and rich in detail, like the clean lines of the kerf-cut stucco. This subtle feature adds depth to the design. u

Coffee Bar (Previous Spread): Plumbed for this Miele coffee maker, Scott embraces black as the dominant hue, accentuating it with white oak slats on the back for warmth and texture. “Rather than typical recessed lights, we use black-and-chrome sconces with vintage filament bulbs to dress up this space,” Scott delights. She selects bulbs with a warmer color temperature to create a radiant ambiance, showcasing her attention to both aesthetics and technical design.

Den: Positioned just off the entry, this den is a versatile space for work or relaxation. The sapphire mirror from Arteriors reflects the alligator photography by Dennis Goodman, creating an evocative visual dialogue. A custom-built niche by Borelli Construction of Naples’ in-house cabinetry team includes illuminated offset shelves with LED lighting. The cabinetry’s taupe base with a pewter glaze pairs with black hardware, complementing the shapely freestanding lamp from Gabby.

Dining Room: The stepped ceiling adds grandeur, while Scott uses a textured wallcovering from Kravet to bring warmth and depth. To anchor the dining area, a Bokara rug showcases hues of mauve, charcoal, and slate gray, complementing the table and chairs from Adriana Hoyos. An exquisite custom built-in serves as a striking focal point, adding functionality and visual interest. Thoughtful accessories, such as delicate candlesticks and lush greenery in slate vases, contribute to a lived-in feel for the spec house.

Primary Bathroom: Borelli custom designs the intricate laser-cut mixed marble flooring from Ruben Sorhegui Tile, showcasing a sophisticated circular pattern that pairs beautifully with the countertop from UMI Stone. The shower entrance is framed with a marble door casing to emphasize its grandeur, while a white oak band softens the vaulted ceiling, creating a more approachable scale. The freestanding tub becomes a serene focal point in a warm white oak niche.

Primary Bedroom: The space is elegant and welcoming and blends modern design with cozy comfort through its refined furnishings. The bed from Vanguard Furniture boasts a peek-a-boo headboard that subtly frames the understated textured wallcovering. This intentional subtlety draws attention to the ceiling wallcovering, a geometric metallic grasscloth from Cowtan & Tout. Located in a quiet wing of the U-shaped floor plan, this primary bedroom embraces serene views of the pool. Scott opts for shade pockets instead of traditional drapery to preserve the view.

Powder Room: Borelli incorporates a 10-foottall door with linear reveals, echoing the exterior’s kerf cut detailing. Scott ensures the vanity, visible when the door is ajar, makes a sculptural statement. The custom vanity is topped with Opal White marble and accented by a matching marble band at the bottom. The geometric black mirror from Arteriors and black plumbing fixtures from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery tie back to the home’s cohesive use of bold black accents.

Hallway: The foyer is visible from the mudroom, where Legno Bastone Wide Plank Flooring’s Copenhagen 13 from the La Famiglia Collection, exclusively sourced through Naples Flooring Company, is laid in a prominent herringbone pattern. This exquisite floor features 1/2” x 8.66” wide planks, showcasing a wood grade with a cleaner appearance and fewer, smaller knots compared to the standard La Famiglia Collection. Impressive millwork adds rich detail to the hallway, while functionality is prioritized with a touch-latch storage compartment and drawer to keep items tucked away. Scott repeats the white oak slats with black hooks for a cohesive design, while the backlit dropped cloud ceilings, a notable architectural element, add further interest to the space.

“It was nice to step into the project during construction,” says Scott. Her intricate millwork, wood accents, and refined details create a welcoming home for any buyer. Throughout, Scott collaborated with Borelli’s in-house cabinetry team to create custom storage solutions, demonstrating the seamless integration of design and craftsmanship. “Parker trusts my vision, allowing me the freedom to bring it to life,” Scott shares. This synergy fosters bold, well-executed choices, blending Scott’s artistry with Borelli’s build precision.

The kitchen is a masterclass of architectural intrigue, functionality, and expert finishing. Two transoms on the hood wall channel natural light inward, enhancing the architectural allure. Scott’s cabinetry artfully blends rich black tones with the warm, organic texture of rift-cut white oak, creating a visually striking palette. Refined matte black hardware adorns the wooden surfaces, while polished chrome accents heighten the black cabinetry’s sophistication, emphasizing the kitchen’s custom appeal. u

VIP Suite: “A curated look is important to me,” shares Scott, who blends textures, finishes, and patterns to achieve this refined design. She starts with a patterned wool area rug from Jaipur Living to ground the space, pairing it with a wood bed from Caracole that reflects the home’s architectural lines. Luxurious bedding from Eastern Accents introduces rich color, echoed by the abstract art above the bed, while casegoods in earthy wood tones add warmth and intricate detail.

Scott’s inventive use of materials and spatial flow is evident in the dining room, where she opts for a black-framed glass panel door. She shares, “A solid door would dominate the space, but I wanted the eye to travel through, adding complexity without sacrificing functionality.” This emphasis on spatial flow also carries into the primary suite, where the rift-cut oak door casing harmonizes with the tranquil tones of the bedding, fostering a sense of unity from one room to the next.

Even the primary bathroom, designed with the end user in mind, reflects Borelli’s dedication to creating well-conceived homes. For example, a shower vestibule with a bench and hooks ensures a comfortable transition from wet to dry zones. These thoughtful touches enhance the home’s luxury and elevate the owner’s experience.

Each room in this U-shaped home connects to a private oasis anchored by the custom pergola visible from the lanai. This collaboration between Scott and Borelli epitomizes the balance of design and function, transforming a speculative house into a welcoming retreat. n

Randi Scott, Owner and Lead Designer of R & Co. Designs notes, “We love hearing clients’ personal stories and weaving them into spaces.”

Guest Bedrooms: Scott embraces creative risks in her designs, noting, “It’s worth it.” In Guest Bedroom 3, she incorporates striking armed wall sconces from Global Views, which add functionality and flair. In Guest Bedroom 4, oversized table lamps from Nourison are paired with arched mirrors by Jamie Young Co., creating depth and visual interest. Positioning the lamps in front of the mirrors enhances their radiant reflection while highlighting the organic nature of the lamp’s textured bases, bringing character to the space.

Lanai: A dark tongue-and-groove ceiling with white oak beams brings a sleek, modern vibe, paired with the contrasting stone finishes on the fireplace. Scott situates a sectional from Rove Concepts to take in the view atop a textured rug with a quaint touch lamp that gives the space an indoor-like coziness. Nuvola Gray leathered marble tiles extend to the pool’s edge, where cobalt blue tile highlights the spa. At the edge, a pergola shelters nest chairs, perfectly positioned to overlook the bubbler fountains and this serene private oasis.

Front Elevation: “The corner lot allowed us to position the pool and second garage on the side, freeing the front elevation from being dominated by garage doors,” Borelli explains. This design choice enhances landscaping opportunities, emphasizes architectural features, and accommodates expansive windows. The kerf cut reveal, a subtle but impactful stucco detail, is accentuated by uplighting. The exterior’s modern hue, Crushed Ice by Sherwin-Williams, completes the sleek, contemporary aesthetic.

Wendy Berry, Owner of W Design Interiors, effectively utilized ambrosia maple on a feature wall in the living room and television wall, highlighting its unique and captivating grain patterns. To evoke a streamlined midcentury aesthetic, the cabinetry is partially recessed into the wall, featuring an elegant radius corner design that subtly repeats throughout the home. The ceiling features a walnut wood grid pattern that adds depth through varied tones. This space masterfully blends a family-friendly atmosphere with a sophisticated design, focusing on a large sectional sofa. Curated sculptures and decor on the built-in shelves contribute to an aesthetic that reflects a thoughtful accumulation of items over time.

COASTAL CONVERGENCE

FROM MIAMI’S PULSE TO NAPLES’ ARCHITECTURAL SANCTUARY

Kitchen: “We removed the entire back wall of the kitchen above the base cabinets and including the marble countertops,” Berry explains. “We designed a focal point on the stove wall by wrapping it in ambrosia maple, extending it up and over the area, and adding a custom hood made from the same wood.” Additionally, Berry chose the luxurious Calacatta Borghini polished marble countertops along with a bookmatched backsplash sourced from Calia Stone. A striking Gregorius Pineo light fixture enhances the drama of the 8-foot island.

Dinette: The walnut ceiling treatment elegantly defines the dining area within the expansive grand salon. “We do a lot of custom banquettes — our clients love them — because it helps push the table towards the wall and, in this case, toward the window,” Berry notes. “It just makes for a comfortable design.” A Holly Hunt dining table, surrounded by Gregorius Pineo cane-backed chairs, features elements that evoke a driftwood-look texture, while the light fixture combines creamy milk glass with substantial leather straps. To complete the look, Berry chose a stunning coastal painting by local artist Leslie Berenson.

WWendy Berry, Owner of W Design Interiors, never intended to convert her visiting friends into clients. During a visit to her Kalea Bay condo, a Miami-based couple became enchanted by the property’s stunning water views from her balcony. Despite owning residences in the Upper Midwest, Mexico, and Miami, they were captivated by the Naples location. Although they initially had no plans to leave Miami, the allure of a fully furnished home with nearby boating and daily tennis proved irresistible. On the same day, they contacted a real estate agent and promptly purchased a unit in Tower Three, which was still under construction. Naturally, they enlisted Berry’s design expertise to transform their new space.

“We were right by their side from the beginning, helping them make selections in the sales center all the way through to the final details of art and accessories — even putting the toothbrushes in the holders,” Berry says.

The homeowners sought a coastal aesthetic that transcended the traditional cottage style. Berry crafted a vision that balanced coastal elements with midcentury modern sensibilities. Her design strategy centered on thoughtfully integrating wood tones, subtle blue accents, bold architectural features, and midcentury design references. To create visual cohesion, she carefully selected complementary wood varieties. The foundation emerged with Rosina European white oak flooring from Legno Bastone Wide Plank Flooring, which flows seamlessly throughout the space. This was complemented by custom-bleached walnut and eye-catching ambrosia maple, chosen for its pale hue and distinctive grain patterns. “We made some unique selections for this project,” Berry notes. “One is the ambrosia maple with its light color and interesting graining.” u

With a clear vision for the wood types and tones, Berry devised a strategic organization plan. “All the wood on the walls is the ambrosia maple, while everything above and below you is walnut and white oak,” she explains. To enhance the overall design cohesiveness of the fourbedroom, four-and-a-half-bath residence, Berry carefully selected furniture pieces that showcased complementary wood tones, adding depth and visual continuity throughout the space. u

Office: Berry made a thoughtful adjustment to the layout of the primary bedroom to create a small office with ample storage. “This condo had large primary closets, so we repurposed about a quarter of the closet space for the office, merging the remainder into one spacious closet,” she explains. The workspace features walnut built-ins that enhance its elegance, while custom cabinetry in a matte blue finish with luxurious metal accents contributes to the overall warmth. A pocket door conceals the office from the primary suite but can be opened to reveal views of the water.

Primary Bedroom: A double-door entrance featuring a repeating radius design invites the homeowners into their private retreat. Continuing the theme of walnut wood accents, Berry designed a stairstep ceiling treatment for the primary bedroom, enhancing its visual impact and warmth. The furnishings contribute to the tranquil atmosphere with a soft blue leather-upholstered bed, a plush bench at the foot, and a Feizy rug showcasing a fret-style geometric pattern. The armchair from Century Furniture features a reverse leather welt that highlights the midcentury aesthetic of its silhouette. “We had the opportunity to make some unique selections, and these ceramic lamps on the night tables feature handmade linen shades,” Berry says. “Then we added a cork wallcovering so the room has layered textures.”

Primary Bathroom: A high-end hotel ambiance permeates the primary bathroom featuring crisp white cabinetry complemented by soft blue and gray tones, while a door in warm walnut discreetly conceals the small office space. Luxurious Ralph Lauren light fixtures are suspended above floating mirrors, creating a custom, spa-like atmosphere. An accent wall in the shower showcases a patterned marble mosaic tile from Design Works, and a large window provides a view of the water from the bedroom while maintaining privacy.

Corridor: The inviting corridor leading to the guest bedrooms showcases a stunning vignette that includes a warm marble console table and an organically shaped mirror. A handmade tribal African sculpture of a female bust adds a narrative element for guests to appreciate; each piece is handmade, varying slightly in shape and shade upon order.

Guest Bedroom & Bathroom: The bed, upholstered in leather and featuring sharp, square edges with contrasting welt, serves as a focal point in this luxurious guest bedroom. Its ivory tone is echoed in the intricate design of the rich slate blue lacquered feature wall. Soft brown floral-patterned pillows introduce warmth to the otherwise contemporary space, linking it to the walnut ceiling treatment. To enhance the sense of spaciousness in the guest bathroom, Berry chose an undermount trough sink that accommodates two faucets. The geometric marble mosaic tile adds a cohesive touch, harmonizing with other areas of the condominium.

Guest Bedroom (Above): Berry embraced a daring approach with the geometric design in this guest bedroom by choosing a striking Schumacher fabric in bold brown and white. Departing from convention, she opted for asymmetry in the nightstand arrangement. One side of the bed features a small desk paired with an upholstered chair from Oly Studio, distinguished by its unique drake foot leg style. “We used a console as a small desk instead of a nightstand and specified this cool custom mirror mounted to the ceiling and suspended off the wall,” Berry says. “With the hanging reading lamp, we created an asymmetrical design that we love.”

Guest Bedroom (Below): This guest bedroom features furnishings in a bleached walnut tone, contrasting with the white-on-white grid ceiling treatment. The bed, upholstered in suede, and a textured wall covering add depth and subtle color to the space. True to her design philosophy, Berry embraces the unexpected. She selected round nightstands from the Robert James Collection, which boast rich wooden tops paired with elegantly shaped white bases, rather than opting for traditional nightstands.

Lanai: The lanai features a second banquette for outdoor dining and is almost a mirror image of the indoor grand salon, accommodating up to 20 guests for dinner. An oversized sectional from Harbour Outdoor, upholstered in Perennials Luxury Fabric, offers a soft yet durable finish ideal for entertaining. Limestone nesting tables add texture and an organic touch, while custom pillows with graphic prints both complement and contrast the indoor sofa cushions. The overall design of the condominium radiates a sophisticated yet family-friendly ambiance.

In this home, mixed wood tones are just one facet of Berry’s multidimensional design. She also incorporated a variety of metals in the fixtures, lighting, and decor. The interplay of textures and organic materials, including stunning marble countertops and geometric patterns, establishes a harmonious balance between sharp lines and gentle, flowing designs. A spectrum of blues — from soft whispers to deep navy — reflects the hues of the nearby waters.

The combination of materials, textured layers, elegant furnishings, and a comprehensive smart home system has resulted in an ideal retreat for the couple’s extended family. They take great pleasure in sharing this space with their children, grandchildren, and in-laws. This home masterfully balances comfort and style, functionality and livability, embodying the quintessential coastal lifestyle that the homeowners envisioned. n

IInterior Designer Denise Fogarty of Denise Fogarty Interiors found herself in a rare position. Sitting with longtime friends

June and Howard, the conversation turned to their next chapter: downsizing from a sprawling custom home to an elegant condominium. What made the moment poignant wasn’t just the opportunity — it was the history. u

Foyer: The sculpture on a pedestal in the foyer is inspired by Fogarty’s lesson from June long ago that a space can benefit from breaking away from two-dimensional art. This is also evident in the spectacular chandelier from Currey & Company that adorned Fogarty’s mood board, waiting for the perfect client. In the ceiling tray and behind the sculpture, Fogarty uses a wallcovering from Phillip Jeffries with a subtle sparkle in a champagne hue.

Kitchen: Fogarty works with June and Howard to select a beautiful French oak floor and upgrade the countertops to a striking double thickness. The crisp white cabinetry seamlessly integrates a built-in refrigerator, blending practicality with elegance. A wine refrigerator from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery is not pictured. In June’s previous home, her office was part of the kitchen. Fogarty introduces a freestanding secretary cabinet in a soft seafoam green, providing a concealed workspace. A quatrefoil-back chair from the living room completes the setup with ease.

FULL CIRCLE MOMENT

A SOFT CONTEMPORARY EXPRESSION OF ART AND FRIENDSHIP

Breakfast Nook: “I love tulip tables — they were on my mood board for so long. I kept saying, ‘Either I’m going to get a tulip table, or one of my clients is!’ June loved it, too. They’re a classic design from the 1950s and will never go out of style,” Fogarty shares, detailing this nickel-based tulip table from Villa & House. The chairs around the table and the island have a cohesive fabric, while the chandelier above the table is whimsical and makes a statement.

Living Room: Fogarty does her design presentation at the Hickory Chair showroom. “I had everything laid out, and this was the rug underneath,” Fogarty shares. June admired the rug from International Design Source, so it became part of the design. Its raised pattern and champagne hue fit seamlessly, and Fogarty carries that hue to the console under the television and the wallcovering in the back of the built-ins. Dark wood accents appear on the Sherrill Furniture cocktail table and the quatrefoil-backed chair from Hickory Chair.

Decades earlier, Fogarty honed her craft working for June, whose design firm was among the most respected in St. Louis, alongside her husband Howard, a successful home builder. After reconnecting years later, their renewed relationship evolved into a close friendship, culminating in what Fogarty describes as a “full circle moment” when they asked her to design their new condominium at Moorings Park Grande Lake. The design process unfolded beautifully, a testament to meticulous planning and the utmost trust. For Fogarty, fostering trust and guiding clients toward a distinctive vision is central to her approach to every client.

Having personally seen June and Howard’s previous homes, Fogarty felt confident in understanding their style: Soft Contemporary — neutral foundations energized by bold color. “I learned so much from June when I worked with her,” shares Fogarty. “She always said, ‘You have to start with something, a rug, a piece of art, or a platter you adore,’ and just as June often did, we began this project with the art.”

“One of the first things June and I did together was head to Miami and choose all the art,” shares Fogarty, who had already walked the model condo, completed preliminary space planning, and selected the hard finishes. It was a joyful day exploring the 45,000-squarefoot art showroom, where both designers flagged potential selections. By the end of the day, they had narrowed it down to 30 pieces, including a striking large-scale work that now anchors the hallway leading to the guest bedrooms. u

Dining Room: Even though Fogarty and June first selected this piece of art for the foyer, the designers switched them during installation, placing this colorful and energetic piece in the dining room. A custom Old Biscayne Designs dining table adorned with a pearlized finish creates a striking contrast against the deeper hues of the chair legs and chest, adding visual depth and sophistication to the space. Together, these elements create a harmonious balance.

Hallway Artwork: “June loves her punch of color to come from the art, and for her, the pieces are meant to speak for themselves,” delights Fogarty. That is precisely what they do in this hallway that leads to the guest rooms. Two mixed media pieces from artist Oz El Hai capture attention with vivid colors and captivating themes, while the large-scale piece at the end of the hall acts as a bold focal point, its vibrant hues energizing the crisp white walls.

Office: Fogarty selects a sleek desk from Century Furniture — its clean lines complement the custom-built cabinetry along the wall. A custom ergonomic executive chair ensures style and comfort, while a sophisticated marble lamp from Clive Daniel Home blends classic with modern elements with its sleek, streamlined design. Every element reflects Howard’s style, emanating a strong and refined aesthetic.

With the art selections made, the next step was curating a backdrop to showcase the art while ensuring every other piece maintained its unique importance. In the foyer, the interplay of black and white previews one of the home’s defining design elements. “I always emphasize the importance of floating dark and light elements throughout a home,” Denise explains. “It’s all about creating a perfect balance and adding visual interest without letting one overpower the other.”

In the dining room, this balance continues, with bold artwork enlivening the space against a backdrop of carefully layered tones. Fogarty’s thoughtful use of silver, crystal, and a delicate champagne hue brings cohesion, adding subtle shimmer and refinement through wall coverings, light fixtures, and fabrics. u

While the office is purely Howard’s domain, his influence as a home builder is evident in the custom beam work on the ceiling and the built-in shelves in the living room. Throughout the design, art functions as both a bold focal point and a subtle accent, complemented by sculptural light fixtures, rich fabrics, and silk greenery, bringing warmth to the Soft Contemporary aesthetic. For Fogarty, helping June and Howard create their new home wasn’t just another project — it was both a professional and personal honor and the ultimate full-circle moment. n

Primary Bathroom: For June’s makeup vanity, Fogarty designs a custom chair from Vanguard Furniture, choosing a fabric with a hint of sparkle and texture in the warm champagne hue that flows throughout the condo. Flanking the antique silver mirror are two exquisite Lily Buds sconces, each crystal delicately hung by hand. The vanity’s soft white finish and countertop complement the neutral tile tones.

Primary Bedroom: Bold artwork above the nightstands from Old Biscayne Designs introduces just the right touch of color, enlivening the space without overpowering it. Lamps with sculptural bases reflect the artwork’s dynamic movement. The neutral tufted headboard and bedding pair beautifully with playful pillows, creating layers of texture and softness. Custom drapery with blackout capabilities completes the retreat, offering effortless control through remote access.

“I learned so much from June when I worked with her,” shares Interior Designer Denise Fogarty of Denise Fogarty Interiors. “She always said, ‘You have to start with something, a rug, a piece of art, or a platter you adore,’ and just as June often did, we began this project with the art.”

WWhat begins as a simple refresh quickly evolves into a comprehensive redesign when Interior Designer Laurie Walter, Principal of Cardamon Design, recognizes the potential for something extraordinary. During a walkthrough, Walter’s keen eye for detail and innovative vision inspire these condominium owners to embrace a transformation far beyond mere paint.

The renovation is unmistakably transitional, blending soft hues and organic forms with a neutral palette to evoke a serene, spa-like atmosphere. As you step off the elevator and enter the space, the beachy sense of calm is evident, highlighted by Walter’s thoughtful redesign of the foyer’s ceiling tray, which foreshadows the elaborate transformations in the great room and gallery. “The ceilings were a blank canvas,” Walter notes. Despite their polished appearance, the new ceiling designs are the product of meticulous planning, careful alignment of all elements, and master construction — resulting in a cohesive aesthetic. u

Kitchen: Walter updates the island base cabinet’s hue with Agreeable Gray by Sherwin-Williams and uses a custom faux driftwood finish for the perimeter cabinets. By changing the cabinetry colors, the existing backsplash is skillfully retained and is now harmonized with the updated kitchen. Three elegant Visual Comfort pendants illuminate one of the islands, while both islands are equipped with new Venato quartz countertops from Pompeii Quartz. Nearby, the intricate millwork cleverly incorporates the structural column, turning it into a design feature.

The Gallery (Previous Spread): Atop the warm wood tongue-and-groove ceiling, drywall beams are designed to align with those in the great room, creating a sense of continuity. These beams contribute to a pleasing rhythmic effect in the nearly 40-foot gallery. This tranquil area is adorned with swivel chairs from Taylor King arranged around an upholstered cocktail table. In the dining area, a custom buffet from Vanguard Furniture’s Make It Yours program enhances the area behind the dining table from Century.

Foyer: Nickel gap paneling serves as a sophisticated coastal canvas, elegantly showcasing original artwork by Anna Rac that captures the essence of sand and water. These pieces are beautifully framed by Aldecor Custom Framing & Gallery. Anchoring the artwork is a console table from John-Richard in gray driftwood with silvered stanchions — Walter notes that the custom frame was intentionally chosen to coordinate with the console table. The accessories, including the silvered branch, enhance the seaside ambiance.

Great Room: The focal wall is framed with a wood trim detail, adorned with a Thibaut wallcovering and illuminated by LED-lit floating shelves that complement the ceiling’s design featuring backlit drop beams. A sumptuous area rug anchors the inviting sectional and swivel chairs from International Design Source. In Walter’s wet bar redesign, the upper cabinets are replaced with open shelving, a vibrant wallcovering backsplash, and a new color scheme to refresh the space.

As the project scope expands from simple paint updates to intricate tasks such as complex faux finishes, custom cabinetry, and ceiling redesigns, Walter must rely on a highly skilled and experienced general contractor to manage these detailed aspects. Walter delights, “Working with Curtis Gunther, as well as Dan Salter, the Field Superintendent, made this project a pleasure, knowing everything was in capable hands.” The feeling was mutual. “Laurie has a clear vision and a deep understanding of construction challenges,” Gunther says, “which makes the entire process seamless.” Walter combines design and functionality by creating a subtle yet impactful drywall partition that separates the kitchen from the dining area. This design choice enhances the area by establishing a niche for decorative elements and allowing for symmetry and optimal furniture arrangement between the dining table and adjacent conversation area.

In this vision of seaside serenity, the existing reddish-brown cabinetry feels entirely out of place. To transform the kitchen, the cabinetry is painted in soothing gray tones and a faux finish, updating the look while preserving the existing backsplash. This thoughtful approach extends to the flooring. Initially, the client doubted whether the floor’s coloring fit the overall aesthetic, but Walter quickly identified that the existing paint amplified the unwanted hues. The floor’s inherent beauty is brought out by selecting a new wall color, making it feel seamlessly integrated into the design as if it had been chosen from the start. u

Primary Bedroom: Linear vents are relocated to preserve the integrity of the striking headboard wall, upholstered in a woven Vanguard fabric. Walter uses luxurious bedding from Signoria Firenze, with custom decorative pillows that complement the sheer drapery. Overhead, a chrome and glass chandelier from Savoy House adds glamour. With balcony access from both the primary bedroom and gallery, Walter selects Lexington Home Brands furniture from the same collection, allowing for easy rearrangement and flexibility on the balcony. Not pictured are custom closets from Inspired Closets.

Office: Walter transforms a standard walk-in closet into a polished, refined office by replacing the original carpeting with white oak flooring and upgrading the fluorescent lighting with a sleek, flush-mounted fixture from Modern Forms. Custom built-ins — including a display case, base cabinet, desk, and open shelves — are painted in Repose Gray by Sherwin-Williams, keeping the space light and airy. Thoughtfully selected accessories and a striking wallcovering from Gianti Fabrics create an inspiring workspace.

Primary Bathroom: Painted in a calming neutral, the cabinetry blends seamlessly with the existing tile. Custom mirrors — framed to match the cabinetry — offer a cohesive, tailored feel, while elegant Mariana Home sconces from Wilson Lighting punctuate the vanity wall. Every detail, from the floral arrangement to the Crystorama chandelier, is designed to combine functionality with elegance, creating a spa-like retreat in this luxurious en suite.

Guest Bedroom: Raffia on the bed from Bernhardt introduces a coastal vibe to this breezy blue guest room. “Guest rooms are often tighter spaces, which is why I love this versatile bench for the end of the bed, a narrow entryway, or even as a cocktail table,” says Walter, describing the Braxton Culler piece. A soothing palette of coastal hues unifies the room, with Nimbus Gray by Benjamin Moore on the headboard wall, sky blue Kravet Couture pillows, and an aqua accent in the artwork.

Powder Room: “This bathroom is a great example of a total makeover without starting from scratch,” says Walter, who updates the vanity door fronts while preserving the existing countertop. The original flooring pairs beautifully with Rotterdam tiles from Glazzio Tiles, illuminated by Hudson Valley sconces that accentuate the geometric pattern of the tiles. The conventional rectangular mirror is replaced to enhance the room’s elegance, while artwork from Palecek features flowing patterns of beads and shells, creating a coastal ambiance.

Walter’s attention to detail continues into the home’s private spaces. “One of their daughters, an interior designer in New Jersey, suggested an upholstered wall for the primary bedroom, which we expanded upon to add a luxurious feel,” Walter shares. In the primary bathroom, she designs custom mirrors and integrates custom cabinetry into the existing vanity to maximize storage, finishing it in a luxurious hue. Other remarkable transformations happen throughout the condominium, such as converting the walk-in closet into a fully functional office or renovating the powder room, where Walter focuses on protecting the client’s budget while giving the space a completely new look.

This project went far beyond cosmetic changes, turning a standard new construction condominium into a luxurious, fully customized residence. With the homeowners’ trust, Walter pushed the boundaries of design, creating the home her clients had always wanted. n

Guest Bedroom: Shades of blue take center stage in this room, with two beds upholstered in durable Crypton fabric. To balance the blue hues, neutral Vintage Lana Wool quilted coverlets from Classic Home top the beds. Walter carefully curates the lumbar pillow fabric and the two art pieces from Wendover Art Group, choosing them for their shared botanical motif. The Omar table lamp from FlowDécor adds subtle texture to this room’s playful palette.

EXQUISITE COMFORT

A HOME DESIGNED FOR COZY LIVING WITH A TOUCH OF GLAMOUR

IIn today’s digital age, homeowners frequently seek design inspiration online before commencing construction or renovation projects.

During a meeting led by Builder Chad Kocses, the discussion took an unexpected turn when Lisa Guild, the Owner and Principal Designer, and Casey O’Brien, the Design Consultant and V-Ray/SketchUp Specialist at LMG Design Consulting, contributed to the conversation. This collaboration aimed to tackle the project’s complexities, promising an innovative blend of vision and practicality.

“The client came with a lot of inspiration images, including one from Pinterest that happened to be a project that Lisa did a while back,” O’Brien reveals. The collaboration between the interior designers and the builder for this Quail West Golf & Country Club project was a perfect match, and Guild’s established partnership with the builder allowed for a seamless design process. LMG Design Consulting played a pivotal role from the very beginning of the project, collaborating closely with the builder to create the floor plan and carefully developing intricate designs for ceilings, trim, and various architectural features. “It was a very heavy lift on the design side, and it was awesome — it was super fun,” Guild exclaims. u

Front Elevation: The collaboration between the LMG Design Consulting team and Builder Chad Kocses resulted in a stunning exterior design for the home. By selecting large-format porcelain tiles and a grand oversized pivot door, they significantly enhanced the entrance, creating an impressive and inviting focal point. This partnership was not just about aesthetics; it involved close cooperation with both the builder and the homeowners to ensure that this residence would distinctly stand out from any previous properties owned by the clients in Naples. The monochromatic color scheme beautifully complements the warm wood tones and creamy whites found throughout the interior, establishing a seamless connection between the home’s exterior and its inviting interior spaces. This thoughtful design approach reflects a commitment to creating a unique living environment that resonates with the clients’ desires while showcasing modern elegance.

Foyer: Upon entering the front door, the space immediately captivates with its unique blend of style, color, and materials. A dramatic, oversized contemporary Global Views chandelier hangs gracefully from the soaring ceiling, while large graphic artworks featuring gold accents and hints of teal adorn each side of the foyer. The design team expertly crafted a dramatic contrast between light and dark elements, utilizing a large porcelain slab that mimics marble, set against custom-stained walnut hardwood floors sourced from Real Wood Floors. Adding to the entrance’s allure is a substantial teak ball from Phillips Collection, which not only enhances the graphic quality of the entrance but also introduces a warm, organic touch. To amplify the home’s dramatic flair, the design team carefully curated this piece and other decor from International Design Source.

Living Room: A harmonious balance of light and dark creates an inviting atmosphere in the living room, but certain elements truly command attention. The neutral tones of the upholstered furniture provide a perfect backdrop, allowing the striking feature wall to take center stage. “We often employ this approach — keeping certain things subtle and understated to let others stand out and make a statement,” explains Guild. The black tambour from the kitchen plays a key role in enhancing the fireplace wall, while the marble-look slab from the foyer is elegantly echoed here in a matte finish. Completing the ensemble are Theodore Alexander walnut tables adorned with metal and gold accents, along with pillows crafted from hand-dyed Hermès fabric in rich shades of blue and teal.

Bar: The entertaining space’s strategic location — nestled between the dining room and outdoor living area — was pivotal in shaping the homeowners vision for their home. The design team embraced a glamorous aesthetic, masterfully orchestrating a sophisticated interplay of textures and materials. They created a striking visual narrative by juxtaposing matte black cabinetry and a custom refrigerator against bronzed antique mirror tiles, which serve as a luminous backsplash. The design’s crowning element is the dramatic countertop and bar-front material, featuring a distinctive zebra-like striping that incorporates crystals in rich ebony and caramel tones, alternating between glossy and matte finishes to add depth and intrigue.

The homeowners, longtime Naples residents, sought a home that transcended their previous smaller properties, with the amenities and entertaining spaces they longed for. With adult children and grandchildren in mind, they envisioned a welcoming winter gathering place for family and friends.

The resulting residence is a generously proportioned 8,000-squarefoot home, featuring six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Beyond the interior living space, an additional 7,000 square feet of outdoor area provides ample room for family activities. The design team meticulously planned every detail, considering factors like individual family members’ heights when determining shower configurations and ensuring each space offered sufficient storage and comfort for multi-generational gatherings. u

Kitchen: Showcasing a bold contrast between dark and light elements, the kitchen features sleek white cabinetry accented with black tabour details that resonate throughout the home. This culinary paradise is a dream for chefs, equipped with a mix of paneled and exposed appliances sourced from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery. A unique ceiling adorned with channel lighting beautifully frames exquisite champagnecolored beaded wallpaper, enhancing the overall ambiance. The Cristallo backsplash and countertops from UMI Stone light up, adding an ethereal glow, while the working countertop areas are a durable quartz. “That’s the essence of the entire project. Everything is functional and practical, yet the space is beautiful, with sophisticated elements that are perhaps a bit extravagant,” notes Guild. Adjacent to the range, a concealed door opens to a spacious service pantry, ensuring convenience without compromising aesthetics. Every detail has been meticulously considered, from the reflective range hood to the elegant brass toe kicks, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere.

Dining Room: The dining room stands out as a dramatic centerpiece, highlighted with butterfly-inspired artwork from John-Richard that plays a pivotal role in the design. This delicate artwork, adorned with shimmering butterfly wing motifs, unexpectedly inspired the room’s teal color scheme, which the design team skillfully integrated throughout the home’s decor. Adding to the intrigue, a trio of Made Goods light fixtures are strategically suspended from the ceiling, creating a captivating arrangement that appears stacked. This design choice required meticulous mathematical calculations, but ultimately resulted in a stunning visual impact.

Primary Bedroom: The designers implemented several innovative approaches to create a primary suite that captures the essence of a luxury hotel. Custom storage solutions tailored to the homeowners’ unique needs were crafted by Inspired Closets. LMG Design Consulting developed a bespoke wallpaper by Fenwick Bartel, incorporating design elements from various parts of the home. “We used an image of the porcelain slabs found in other areas of the home when designing the custom wallpaper,” explains O’Brien. The geometric lines of the wallpaper are echoed in the Schumacher fabric draperies. To soften the modern aesthetic, the designers introduced curvilinear shapes through chair and ottoman sets, as well as an upholstered bench at the foot of the bed. Two large pillshaped mirrors reflect light from John-Richard pendants from Corbett Lighting, adding a touch of elegance and functionality to the space.

Focusing on the concept of indoor-outdoor living, the design team emphasized harmony among all areas of the home. “We like things that evoke a sense of continuity as we move along throughout the house, but they aren’t mere copies. Instead, they create ‘aha moments’ — those instances when you think, ‘Wow, I recognize this; it just feels right,’ because you’ve encountered it in a different context,” Guild shares. “This is very important to us.” u

Primary Bathroom: A captivating blend of textures and patterns creates a unique atmosphere in the primary bathroom. The striking shower tile, with its hard, angular design, evokes a natural zebra-like motif, adding a bold statement to the space. Large windows enhance the homeowners’ connection to nature while ensuring privacy is maintained. Complementing this design, the burnished brass backsplash with black grout beautifully harmonizes with other metallic finishes, including the elegant tub filler.

Powder Room: Powder rooms are often referred to as “jewel boxes,” where designers go bold with design elements, and this particular design certainly embodies that name. The vanity wall commands attention with its striking features. “The blue wallpaper resembles a massive piece of agate — it’s really dramatic,” explains Guild. Complementing this bold backdrop are the backlit Cristallo countertop and floating shelf, which together create an ethereal ambiance reminiscent of an underwater oasis.

Office: The husband’s home office showcases a unique combination of wood tones, accentuated by elegant wooden wallpaper from Phillip Jeffries. A striking wagon-wheel ceiling treatment featuring a copper inset adds character, while a captivating rattan light fixture from Currey & Company draws the eye. The sleek leather sofa provides a modern contrast to the plush velvet chair, and the deep blue-green wall color serves as an ideal backdrop for the homeowner’s trophy fish, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.

Since the homeowners own properties in the Upper Midwest, in the mountains, and by a lake, their homes typically reflect the characteristics of those locations. However, they wanted this particular home to be unique. “It’s very glamorous and graphic, but it’s also calm and has a lot of organic texture with beautiful stones and wood,” relates Guild. “There’s this yin and yang of lovely and shiny, fun and bright. There are stunning light fixtures that combine a glamorous sparkle with a natural aesthetic — creating a look that is both elegant and incredibly comfortable.”

The undertaking was ambitious, and Guild welcomed the opportunity. “This project was a lifetime achievement in terms of having the breadth and understanding of the client, and also the resources of the builder, to be allowed to think outside the box and come up with things that maybe hadn’t been done before or to put a new spin on it,” shares Guild. “From my perspective, it was a dream project — it started fantastic, but it ended even better. And that is something you can’t always say, even after 31 years in the business.” n

Pool Bath: Conveniently accessible from both the outdoors and the home’s back hallway, the pool bath showcases a harmonious blend of design elements. Its custom vanity, finished in a creamy white, features elegant tambour reeded textures and graceful curved lines. The vertical lines continue with a marble tile backsplash that offers a pearlescent, shell-like appearance in soft gray and gold hues. To further enhance the warmth of the space, gold-toned fixtures, sconces, and a mirror beautifully accentuate the subtle gold accents in the tile.

Outdoor Living: Crafted to embrace the Florida lifestyle, Guild and O’Brien meticulously designed a home that blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. Their vision centered on creating a harmonious environment through a thoughtful palette of natural textures, geometric patterns, and sophisticated materials. “We use large-format stone, whether it’s granite or marble,” Guild explains, allowing the inherent beauty of these materials to shine through.” This design philosophy is evident throughout the space, from the expansive stone surfaces to the carefully curated color scheme. The backsplash becomes a focal point, featuring a rich, nuanced combination of teal, green, cream, brown, and black hues that add depth and visual interest. A striking cypress ceiling serves as a warm, organic counterpoint to the home’s bold geometric elements, infusing the living space with natural texture. The furniture selection further reinforces the design narrative, echoing the dynamic patterns that define the home’s distinctive aesthetic.

CONTEMPORARY GLAMOUR

ACHIEVING PERFECTION AND SOPHISTICATION

IIn the world of bespoke interiors, Creative Director and Interior Designer Carrie Brigham of Carrie Brigham Design stands out for her ability to create one-of-a-kind spaces that reflect her clients’ distinct styles and interests. Brigham and her co-designer, Morgan Scott, are highly attuned to their clients, tailoring each design to perfection. For these Omega at Bonita Bay condominium owners, Brigham creates a style of Contemporary Glamour.

This sophisticated contemporary style balances casual and formal elements, achieving a refined look that gracefully embraces curves with the utmost finesse and brings glamorous touches to each space through opulent materials and finishes. “The design teeters between polished and approachable — elevated but never untouchable, and utterly sophisticated,” Brigham explains. Every element and piece in this design belongs to an elevated, ultra-luxurious tier of contemporary interior design. u

Family Room (Previous Spread): With such a versatile floor plan, Brigham and her clients opt for a cozy family room, starting with a sectional and organically shaped ottoman from Baker Furniture. Fluid lines appear in the hand-knotted wool rug, while overhead, clear iridescent crystal discs on the chandelier bring a subtle touch of opulence to the space. The abstract art introduces vibrant cobalt, aqua, and striking red hues, infusing the room with dynamic, colorful movement within this neutral setting.

Living Room: “We feel like we’ve created an ‘AI moment’ where it seems too good to be true,” Brigham shares, referencing the sculptural focal wall and its dazzling brass finish. Smooth, high-gloss finishes contribute to this contemporary vision, yet a heavily textured fabric for the 18-foot curvilinear sofa from Century Furniture brings balance. This cocktail table from John Pomp Studios commands attention and nests perfectly beside the curved sofa.

The condominium displays a harmonious interplay of lines, shapes, and hues, yet the fireplace wall stands out as the true showstopper — a stunning architectural centerpiece that commands attention. Its curvilinear form, recessed toe-kick, and delicate lime-wash plaster treatment create an almost weightless, dreamlike aesthetic that elevates the entire space. The plaster’s soft, suede-like texture adds depth, while the brass cladding around the steam fireplace enhances its luxurious aura, delivering an unmistakable touch of glamour. “When Morgan and I work on projects, we engage in a fluid conversation between architecture, furnishings, and decorating, ensuring they complement each other,” Brigham says, sharing that this in-house collaboration is instrumental to each design’s success.

Brigham applauds her clients’ eye for elevated furnishings and fixtures, which bring stunning pieces — like the cocktail table in the great room — into the fold. Its hand-poured glass top transitions from garnet to clear, acting as a glamorous piece of jewelry akin to the gleaming chandelier in the adjacent dining room. Brigham interprets this high style in the kitchen with an undeniably show-stopping slab of Calacatta Gold marble. “It had a lot of rust tones in it,” Brigham shares, “which is unusual but was fully intentional as part of our overall color scheme.” u

Kitchen: Brigham’s clients appreciate high-gloss finishes with a hint of industrial flair, and the book-matched Calacatta Gold marble becomes the impressive focal point. A wall of taupe-stained cabinetry from Irpinia Kitchens introduces a European-contemporary aesthetic, while white highgloss upper cabinets complement the marble’s striking beauty. A leather-strapped pendant light from Esperia adds an edgy element, paired with Berman | Rosetti counter stools that feature carved walnut backs, leather seats, and stainless steel legs.

Dining Room: The highly polished light fixture serves as the dining room’s focal point and a striking first impression upon entering the condominium. Contemporary glamour is captured with the dining table from Hellman-Chang, which radiates elegance through rich walnut tones and gleaming brass highlights. Brigham’s custom-designed bar features sleek Armac Martin brass grilles and a Sub-Zero wine cooler, topped with a backlit Cristallo countertop and backsplash from UMI Stone, marrying function with bespoke sophistication.

Primary Bathroom: A bright brass and milk glass chandelier from Visual Comfort & Co. graces the space, adding a refined touch of glamour. Charged with finding a contemporary bathtub with bubbler jets to match the precise dimensions of the previous standard tub, Brigham rises to the challenge with this curvy tub from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery. Reflecting on the project’s tailored closets, Brigham shares, “We embraced the quintessential modern cantilevered closet system that California Closets is renowned for.”

This refined palette features a neutral backdrop, enlivened by hand-picked shades of cobalt and tropical blues, harmoniously complemented by warm rust and brown tones. Drawing inspiration from the Florida landscape, the vibrant pops of tropical color in the artwork and turquoise and blue accents echo the serene, awe-inspiring hues of the Gulf visible through the windows. This inspiration enhances the restorative and tranquil atmosphere of the space, particularly in the primary suite, where the design radiates understated elegance framed by an ever-present tropical view. Glamorous elements are introduced through a silk-accented area rug that shimmers with champagne tones. The primary bathroom showcases textural tile and contemporary cabinetry, staying true to the condo’s inspiration. u

Primary Bedroom: “This is an unassuming, restful, and peaceful environment — contemporary yet warm — designed to let the view take center stage,” shares Brigham, who leans fully into the neutral palette with a touch of glamour with the area rug’s silk sheen showing off hues of champagne, taupe, and charcoal gray. The upholstered bench from Jerry Pair offsets the delicate form of the Holly Hunt bed , and above hangs this remarkable Lucca Antiques light fixture in white oak and bronze.

Even the balcony reflects Brigham’s dedication to crafting designs that embody her clients’ high-style sensibilities. Contemporary furniture mirrors the interior’s sophistication in every detail, while the cantilevered cocktail table adds visual allure and functional ease to this elegant balcony. Cobalt blue accents on the throw pillows connect the balcony to the condo’s color scheme, showcasing Brigham’s talent for contemporary design amid the tropical surroundings.

Brigham and Scott’s unwavering dedication to perfect and tailored selections shapes every corner of this condominium. Each design choice reflects an elevated sense of style. Here, Contemporary Glamour transcends mere design, becoming a lifestyle of refined sophistication. n

Balcony: “As the balcony is visible alongside the indoor furnishings, we focused on selecting outdoor furniture that matched the beauty and elegance of the interior,” explains Brigham, whose dedication to perfection ensures every detail is meticulously considered. Pieces like the armless pillow-top sectional from Tribù embody this commitment. A cantilevered cocktail table from JANUS et Cie enhances the contemporary aesthetic, while woven dining chairs were hand-selected for their subtle touch of coastal elegance.

Office: This office extends fluidly from the adjacent family room, mirroring its aesthetic with striking abstract art. Dazzling brass hardware shows up on the bleached white oak built-in, in front of which is this stunning desk from Maxine Snider in polished brass and walnut completed by a classic Herman Miller task chair. The rich texture of the guest chairs from Adriana Hoyos, upholstered in Lee Jofa fabric, complements the subtle dimension of the Phillip Jeffries wallcovering.

“When Morgan [Scott] and I work on projects, we engage in a fluid conversation between architecture, furnishings, and decorating, ensuring they complement each other,” shares Creative Director and Interior Designer Carrie Brigham of Carrie Brigham Design.

MODERN LUXE

A STYLISH MAKEOVER ADDS URBAN CHARM TO A 2000s CONDOMINIUM IN THE DUNES OF NAPLES

Family Room: The family room’s focal point is a stunning fireplace feature wall adorned with Calacatta marble, serving as the centerpiece for the space. Complementing this elegant backdrop, a trough ceiling design introduces customizable ambient lighting, accentuating the room’s neutral palette of taupe and cream tones. The lighting can be adjusted to various hues, allowing the homeowners to set the mood as desired. Comfortable seating is provided by two Burton James sofas, paired with a set of American Leather recliners. These pieces are adorned with textured pillows, adding visual depth and interest to the room. A Vanguard Furniture coffee table in rich wood tones introduces warmth and additional texture, balancing the cool marble and creating a harmonious, inviting atmosphere.

HHomeowners who purchased a vacation property in The Dunes of Naples when it was built in 2006 have embarked on their second remodel, this time enlisting the expertise of Jenna Getchell, Creative Director of J. Lynn Design Group, to completely transform their three-bedroom, three-bath unit. “They renovated the condo once before and were looking to do it again — twenty years later — to give it a complete facelift,” Getchell says. They longed for better flow, maximized views of the water and city, and an ideal design for entertaining enveloped in a warm, neutral palette with luxurious detailing.

The original floor plan featured a wall immediately upon entering the condo, which limited the view into the space. However, the updated foyer now provides a welcoming glimpse into the space and establishes the design aesthetic of the home. “Our biggest goal for the entry is to introduce you to the rest of the home and the client’s style,” Getchell says. “This new entryway achieves exactly that — it’s inspiring and leads you into wanting more, to see the rest of the space.”

Initially, a console from the original furnishings helped establish the home’s ambiance. However, an unexpected revelation emerged when the team discovered that what the homeowners believed to be a genuine piece of lava from a shop in Hawaii was actually made of foam.

Despite this surprising finding, it continues to serve as a stunning floating console at the entrance. u

Kitchen: The kitchen’s new pie-shaped island helps direct attention to the window, while the cabinetry combines contemporary design with warm tones. Modern touches are evident in small details like the upper cabinet trim that wraps around both doors, and the streamlined custom range hood constructed using the same Taj Mahal quartzite as the countertops and backsplash, sourced through UMI Stone. Sub-Zero/Wolf appliances and House of Rohl fixtures from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery elevate the space’s luxury factor. “One of the details I love is the modernized farm sink design created by the mitered apron slab front,” Getchell remarks.

Dining Room: The dining room is positioned next to the newly opened wall, which Getchell transformed into a practical element. “A floating console helps anchor the dining room and doubles as a serving area,” Getchell explains. “The new circular opening allows guests to peek through the entry into the dining room.” A John-Richard chandelier adorned with floating crystals enhances the earthy wooden table selected for its textural and durable characteristics, while the dining chairs are upholstered in a luxurious Kravet fabric that features soft color and rich texture. The bar wall showcases a backlit Cristallo agate quartzite slab, its flowing organic texture contrasting beautifully with the sleek lines of the cabinetry.

Entry: “We had to make the entry larger to fit this cantilevered lava console, which is the center of our design,” Getchell explains. “We created this striking walnut surround that wraps the ceiling as well as down the walls and provides a sharp contrast to the mirror that goes from the floor and wraps over the ceiling as well.” This design enhances the perception of height, giving the impression that the space is two stories tall, naturally directing attention to the Tech Lighting chandelier adorned with LED-illuminated petals. The Ávila wide-plank hickory flooring by CRAFT Floor offers light, neutral hues that create a seamless, elegant flow throughout the condo.

To address a challenge posed by a structural wall, Getchell devised an innovative solution: a large circular opening that seamlessly integrates into the overall design. This creative approach necessitated relocating the kitchen and completely reconfiguring the public spaces since the kitchen was originally situated behind that wall.

“By relocating the kitchen, it now feels like one you would see in a house versus a small condo-sized kitchen, which was the original scale,” Getchell explains. “It’s much more functional, anchors the space, and allows the living areas to flow more fluidly instead of feeling divided.” The redesigned kitchen now takes advantage of the city views, with the island seating and sink positioned to face a corner window. Getchell notes, “One of the homeowners’ biggest complaints was the lack of view — there’s a beautiful city view out this particular window, but it never got utilized when this area was a dining room.”

In redesigning the living and entertaining areas, Getchell focused on optimizing flow and functionality. The living room layout adapts to the homeowners’ preference for two reclining chairs by incorporating two opposing sofas rather than a sectional, creating a balanced and conversational seating arrangement. For the adjoining dining area, Getchell designed the bar to serve as the centerpiece for social gatherings. Although it is situated close to the kitchen, the bar stands out with its distinctive cabinetry that enhances its unique character. “We didn’t want to feel like the kitchen was extending into the dining area,” Getchell notes. “The slat cabinetry helps break up the kitchen from the wine bar.” u

Primary Bedroom: “This is one of my all-time favorite bedrooms,” exclaims Getchell. “I just love the asymmetrical, full-height headboard alongside the walnut wood slats — the walnut creates a dark contrast to the light color of the fabric — adding texture and layers.” Enhancing the drama of the bed wall, two pendant lights by Kelly Wearstler from Visual Comfort showcase geometric designs in polished nickel and alabaster. Getchell incorporates shades of navy and aqua to instill a serene atmosphere in the primary retreat.

Primary Bathroom: Getchell employed clever design solutions to craft the primary bathroom the homeowners desired. She incorporated a luxurious soaking tub by constructing a raised platform to conceal the plumbing. When faced with a structural column that would have disrupted the symmetry in the back corner, Getchell ingeniously designed a niche that not only hides the column but also creates a striking visual effect using large-format porcelain tiles with bold gray and taupe veining. The bathroom’s elegant aesthetic is further enhanced by using marble-look porcelain in white sourced through Design Works. A standout feature of the white oak vanity is the set of oversized, avant-garde pulls from Lisa Jarvis Hardware. Contemporary Newport Brass fixtures from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery give the space a touch of sophistication.

Guest Bedroom & En Suite To contrast the soft lines of the upholstered headboard, Getchell chose the sharp, geometric design of the Sumi wallcovering from Harlequin. The minimalist black Roman shade and the subtle pattern on the bedding allow the wallcovering, which features black and champagne hues, to stand out. This second en suite includes a floating vanity adorned with chunky medallion hardware and a striking bold-print wallcovering in muted neutral tones, reflecting the modern aesthetic that is consistent throughout the home.

The newly renovated condominium embodies relaxation, featuring a sleek and sophisticated aesthetic complemented by luxurious details that enhance its design. “We definitely bridged the gap between modern and transitional with elements anchored in warmth and coziness, but still in a modern setting,” Getchell concludes. n

Enclosed Lanai: The enclosed nature of the lanai allows Getchell to explore more diverse material options that might not have been suitable for an entirely open area. She explains, “We created an interesting walnut wood feature wall here that echoes the entryway’s aesthetic, spanning from floor to ceiling and extending overhead with modern, sleek detailing.” The wall is accentuated by an asymmetrical pattern created with multi-colored LED tape lighting, which complements other design elements throughout the residence. A table with a durable stone top is paired with reclining and swiveling chairs to complete the space, seamlessly integrating this area with the indoor entertainment zones.

Powder Room: The homeowners elected to convert a third bedroom into an office, allowing this bathroom to function as the powder room. Getchell designed a full-mirror barn door to conceal the shower, enhancing the room’s authentic powder room ambiance. The tall mirrors and rift white oak panels echo the wall design found in the foyer, while the integrated sink is set within a thick slab of rich brown and cream Taj Mahal quartzite. The chevron tile flooring beautifully incorporates all the warm colors.

“The transformation of this home by Nan and Caitlin has been absolutely remarkable. When Nan described her vision for the dramatic changes to turn the interior from dark and dated to open and timeless, we decided to buy the house! Our Florida dream home is beyond our expectation and the process was easy and fun.” — Mike

TRUSTING THE PROCESS

HOMEOWNERS HAD CONFIDENCE IN THEIR DESIGN TEAM TO MAKE ALL THE “WRIGHT” DECISIONS

IIn a testament to the transformative power of expert design, Wright Interior Group orchestrated a remarkable metamorphosis of a once-dated Tuscan-style residence in the prestigious Wyndemere Country Club. This renovation exemplifies the extraordinary results achievable when homeowners entrust their vision to seasoned professionals.

Principal and CEO Nan Wright, alongside Design Director Caitlin Heath, were serendipitously recommended by a former client who shared roots with the new owners in a Delaware town. Initially, the home’s somber and outmoded aesthetic nearly dissuaded the prospective buyers. However, Wright’s discerning eye recognized the property’s latent potential, envisioning a luminous transformation to breathe new life into the space. “I assured them that the house had a solid foundation we could definitely work with to transform it into their dream home,” Wright recalls, highlighting her immediate grasp of the property’s possibilities. The couple’s fortuitous discovery of the soon-to-be-listed property through their country club’s membership director set the stage for a design journey to redefine their expectations.

Upon first entering the residence, Wright acknowledged its inherent darkness but swiftly pivoted to its potential: “It doesn’t have to stay that way. We can make it bright and airy.” This visionary perspective resonated with the clients, who were fully confident in Wright Interior Group to manifest this radiant reimagining. u

Kitchen (Previous Spread): The design features a large island crafted from two book-matched, mitered stone slabs sourced from UMI Stone, comfortably seating five to six people. “The cabinetry features a reeded design that aligns with the timeless coastal aesthetic,” Heath explains. “There is hidden storage beneath the island countertop overhang, accessible via touch-latch doors.” The cabinetry, designed in a modified Shaker style, reaches up to the ceiling to enhance the room’s proportions and provide space for displaying decorative accessories. The white oak flooring sourced from Real Wood Floors offers a warm contrast to the cabinetry’s white and blue tones. A delicate chandelier by Capital Lighting illuminates the area without obstructing the hood, serving as a stylish accent.

Living Room: What Wright once described as a “long bowling alley” has transformed into a cozy living area perfect for hosting guests, thoughtfully separated from the foyer. The design team created elegant, transparent wing walls crafted from laser-cut metal, which offer visual connection while delineating the foyer and living room without solid barriers. Luxury touches include floating beams that enhance the architectural appeal, a bespoke entertainment center from Southlinks Custom Cabinetry, and Phillip Jeffries wallpaper that beautifully replicates a classic caning pattern. Aldecor Custom Framing & Gallery expertly framed the artwork found throughout the home.

Dining Room: Originally an outdoor area, this room now boasts a higher ceiling supported by a structural steel beam. The laser-cut wood ceiling design evokes the beauty of outdoor foliage. “We wanted to pay homage to the fact that this area was once part of the lanai by incorporating a leaf-inspired design on the ceiling,” explains Heath. Large accordion doors replace the original sliding doors, allowing for a seamless opening to the pool area while minimizing their visual impact when fully opened. The wallpaper features a soft, cloudy grass cloth, providing an elegant backdrop for the striking pendants that enhance the room’s artistic appeal.

Bar: This beverage area, designed as an extension of the kitchen, seamlessly blends functionality with style. “Highlighting their curated wine collection was essential,” Wright explains. To achieve this, the space features a large wine refrigerator along with refrigerated drawers, dual dishwasher drawers, a sink, and an ice maker. The reeded cabinetry is consistent with the adjacent kitchen design, incorporating the reeded treatment in both the white and blue cabinets. The lighting and blue accents behind the glass-front cabinets enhance the display of glassware. Conveniently located just outside the kitchen, it allows for drink preparation and mingling between the bar and kitchen for the ultimate entertaining experience.

Wright and Heath successfully transformed the family’s living space, seamlessly transforming awkward outdoor areas into sophisticated indoor sanctuaries. Their visionary approach reconfigured existing rooms, creating thoughtfully proportioned bedrooms, introducing an additional sleeping chamber, and ensuring effortless bathroom accessibility. The pièce de résistance of their design is implementing a contemporary open floor plan, which elevates the home’s flow and connectivity to new heights.

Wright’s philosophy of meticulous space utilization shines through in her statement: “We critically assess every inch to determine its optimal use. Our strength lies in analyzing these areas, engaging in discussions about functionality with our clients, and providing recommendations to maximize space efficiency.” This attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the redesign. u

Primary Bedroom: The designers transformed the space into an open, inviting sanctuary by strategically removing prominent soffits. Delicate pendant lights flank the bed, accentuating the nightstands’ clean lines and preserving an uncluttered aesthetic. A thoughtfully curated accent wall harmonizes with a custom rug, encouraging the homeowners to embrace design innovation. Nightstands adorned with a Capiz shell motif introduce subtle coastal elegance, seamlessly blending timeless sophistication with contemporary design sensibilities.

Primary Bathroom: A masterful transformation elevates this space from confined to expansive. The reimagined layout, featuring a curbless glass-enclosed shower and expansive white tilework, creates an illusion of doubled space and enhanced accessibility. “The original shower was closed in, narrow, and dark,” Heath explains. “Now that it features all glass and white tile throughout, the area feels twice as large. By eliminating the curb or step-down at the shower entry, access becomes much easier as one ages in place.” Large-format marble-look porcelain tile from Design Works imparts a luxurious finish, while Wright’s ingenious mirror moldings add architectural intrigue. Plumbing fixtures from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery complete this bright, airy sanctuary, artfully balancing form and function for ageless elegance.

Guest Bedroom & Bathroom: A masterful reconfiguration optimizes space, integrating closets for the bedroom and adjacent laundry. The homeowners’ mahogany bed, reimagined in white, anchors the room, while elegant drapery transforms a window into a captivating focal point. Consistent carpeting from The Floor Meisters unifies the guest suites along a single hallway. In the compact bathrooms, Heath’s revival of the “banjo top” countertop design, extending over the toilet and into the shower, maximizes functionality. Glass enclosures complete these spaces, infusing them with a modern, airy ambiance that belies their efficient footprint.

The husband’s statuesque presence inspired architectural choices that celebrate verticality, soaring ceilings, and generously proportioned hallways far surpassing the original layout. The color palette is a testament to refined taste, featuring a luminous white base elegantly accented with blue, a nod to the wife’s chromatic preference. Throughout the residence, traditional detailing pays homage to the family’s cherished Delaware roots, artfully reimagined with a fresh coastal sensibility.

This residence boasts a prime location overlooking the golf course, offering panoramic vistas and a sense of seclusion due to its strategic distance from the cart path. To elevate the outdoor experience, Wright Interior Group orchestrated a comprehensive transformation of the rear yard. The centerpiece of this renovation is a newly excavated lap pool designed for leisure and fitness. Complementing this aquatic feature, the team replaced the previously modest screen enclosure with a more expansive structure, enhancing the indoor-outdoor flow. The spa was repositioned closer to the primary bedroom in a thoughtful touch of luxury and convenience, allowing for effortless enjoyment. u

The design team effectively encouraged the homeowners to step outside their comfort zone, introducing bold elements that transformed the residence into a personalized sanctuary. A vibrant patterned rug in the primary bedroom and expansive floral wallpaper in the family room are striking focal points, infusing the spaces with character and charm. Innovative storage solutions in compact guest bathrooms demonstrate the team’s ingenuity, while exquisite details throughout the home elevate its unique aesthetic. u

Guest Bedroom & EnSuite: This guest room distinguishes itself in several notable ways. Firstly, it features two beds that can be combined to create a king-size bed, complete with a shared upholstered headboard. A cleverly designed nesting table between the beds quickly transforms into two nightstands, making the room perfect for couples and families. The room also includes an ensuite that serves as the powder bath. This space has a vestibule and adaptable doors, allowing for versatile use. The custom vanity, designed by Heath, showcases trim inspired by the tile pattern of the shower wall, adding a touch of elegance. The room is finished with resilient vinyl wallcovering suitable for wet environments and a classic terrazzo tile floor to enhance durability and aesthetics. This combination merges practicality with sophisticated design, creating an inviting atmosphere for guests.

Pool Bath: This bathroom, which used to function as both a powder room and pool bath, no longer needed a shower after a new bathroom with a shower was added elsewhere in the house. As a result, the shower area has been transformed into a practical changing room. The space showcases a striking blue shiplap feature wall and textured wallpaper adorned with a cream and white floral leaf pattern. The soft pebble flooring creates an outdoor ambiance, while the porthole-shaped hanging mirrors, artwork, and other decorative elements pay homage to nautical design.

Pool: The design team meticulously matched the new walls to the existing exterior, ensuring a seamless blend with consistent trim treatments. While the original doors featured 8-foot sliding panels with 2-foot transoms, the updated design introduces striking 10-foot accordion doors that enhance the exterior’s harmony and offer a modern aesthetic. To elevate the space, shell stone flooring replaces the original red brick, and some planters were modified or removed for a more streamlined appearance. Additionally, outdoor furnishings from International Design Source have been added, with plans for a future update that will include a complete outdoor kitchen.

Wright articulates the project’s emotional underpinning: “He hoped his wife would come to love this home, as he wanted to spend more time here. If she felt the same affection for it as she did for their Delaware residence, they would be inclined to spend more time in Naples.” This thoughtful approach to design, balancing bold choices with personal touches, successfully cultivated a deep connection between the homeowners and their new Naples retreat. n

“We critically assess every inch to determine its optimal use. Our strength lies in analyzing these areas, engaging in discussions about functionality with our clients, and providing recommendations to maximize space efficiency,” asserts Principal and CEO Nan Wright of Wright Interior Group.

J.R. Evans Engineering specializes in Floodplain Management and Stormwater Modeling services specifically designed for Florida’s West Coast. With Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) expertise, they have achieved a 100% success rate in FEMA submissions, including flood zone modifications, No-Rise certifications, and Letters of Map Revision (LOMR). Their Stormwater Modeling incorporates advanced hydrologic analyses and Low Impact Development (LID) techniques to create FDEP-compliant drainage systems that not only mitigate flooding risks but also preserve the dynamics of regional watersheds.

The firm specializes in Coastal Engineering and Resiliency Services, focusing on several key areas: Coastal Construction Control Line (CCCL) permitting, shoreline stabilization, and scour analysis. They tackle West Florida’s vulnerability to storm surges and erosion through effective seawall design and dune restoration. Their resiliency strategies include sea-level rise modeling and green infrastructure solutions, drawing insights from recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian.
