& BUILDING A FUTURE WITHOUT HOMELESSNESS

A Word from Our Board President

If you’re reading this, then you probably already know about HomeAid and that we do our work in concert with the building industry, service providers, generous donors, volunteers, local communities, and many others Without them, we would not exist You may or may not know, however, the full story of the unique role we play among the many non-profits who tackle the challenges of homelessness. Although we work collaboratively with other non-profits, nobody does what we do. What we have accomplished is one of the best-kept secrets.

Over the past thirty-five years, HomeAid Orange County has completed 78 different housing projects to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness And with our expansion into Los Angeles and Ventura County we proudly add 35 more completed projects and 2 more that are currently in development.

That amounts to 2,882 beds and 12,994 nights offering a safe and supportive place for men, women, and children to find rest, whether for a day, a week, or perhaps permanently. In all, 90,000 of our neighbors - veterans, survivors of domestic abuse, senior adults, single moms, emancipated youth, and so many others - have been served through HomeAid-built housing and programs We are very proud of this success

Yet, none of this was done alone Our projects reflect a merging of our labor of love with yours. Without our building partners, sponsors, donors, service providers, and essential community partners, HomeAid could never meet our ambitious goals. In 2024 we broke ground on La Veta Village, an affordable housing community for families and senior adults; successfully completed FX Residences, permanent supportive housing for some of the most vulnerable in our community; and dedicated Robyne’s Nest, serving students experiencing homelessness. We also partnered with Family Promise to improve their office capacity in Santa Clarita to serve more vulnerable people. We could not have done it on our own But we did – because of you

Good things are planned for 2025 including more on our expansion into Los Angeles and Ventura County. Until then, thanks again. And maybe help spread the word of the bestkept secret in the SoCal.

Sincerely,

A Word from Our Executive Director

Impact, by definition, is having a strong influence on something or someone. We have a strong influence in the fight against homelessness in Orange County, and we are excited to bring it to Los Angeles and Ventura Our mission began in 1989, and through the unwavering generosity of people like you, HomeAid continues to emerge as a driving force and trusted leader in the conversations surrounding the crisis of homelessness.

I am excited to share with you the 2024 Impact Report which highlights HomeAid Orange County and Los Angeles housing projects, community programs, and advocacy to help our neighbors experiencing homelessness. As you flip through these pages, I encourage you to think about the real-life change and significance of the number of diapers you collected, beds added, projects in development, and the hope that you have given to families, seniors, children, disabled adults, and so many others in our community

Simply stated, more of our unhoused neighbors are getting a second chance to rebuild their lives due to the availability of more housing and critical resources. HomeAid Orange County, Los Angeles, and Ventura County gives people access to essential everyday items, and the opportunity to get off the streets, out of their cars, and into safe spaces to call home.

This impact is worth celebrating because of you, our giving donors, sponsors, volunteers, board members, community, and nonprofit partners. You're HomeAid's biggest cheerleaders and we are grateful for your support Thank you!

As we celebrate our recent milestones, I also want to acknowledge that exciting things are ahead for HomeAid in 2025. Our legacy of blazing new trails and climbing mountains continues, and I could not be more excited to help lead the charge. Thank you for your continued partnership and for believing in our mission to build a future without homelessness.

Sincerely,

35 YEARS OF IMPACT

Since 1989, HomeAid OCLA has approached the crisis of homelessness with a unique and collaborative mindset.

Our mission is to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education.

AN ESTIMATED HAS BEEN COLLECTED IN IN-KIND DONATIONS OF LABOR AND MATERIALS FOR PROJECTS AND OUR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS SINCE 1989

Established by the Building Industry Association of Southern California, Orange County Chapter, we construct housing on our own, for nonprofit service providers, and public entities that serve people experiencing homelessness

Our unique model, centered around in-kind donations of labor and materials from our building industry partners, saves 30% to 100% of market costs on each HomeAid housing project

We believe that housing is a human right, and that homelessness is not healthy for anyone.

HomeAid has the unique ability through housing, community engagement, and education to maximize the relationships between the building industry and local service providers to create a future in which individuals are able to overcome homelessness and build a new life

Beginning in late 2023, HomeAid Orange County began to manage the HomeAid Los Angeles affiliate, and with our talents and expertise, we were able to continue the development of housing projects already in the LA pipeline.

In mid-2024 our Board of Directors approved HomeAid Orange County's expansion into the Los Angeles County and Ventura County territory, to help nearly 78,000 people experiencing homelessness *

While assisting in the management of Homeaid Los Angeles we have given 24 students $550 in work stipends as part of Homeaid Works. This program furthered workforce development and preparedness for at-risk students entering adulthood.

108 projects have been completed or are in progress in Orange County and Los Angeles County in the last 35 years, with 4 currently in development.

MORE THAN JUST A NUMBER:

Hello,

I am a former Marine who went to the Middle East and was stationed at 29 Palms. I’ve always been a hard worker who loves my country. After I left the Marines I moved to Los Angeles, but never found stable work, and began experiencing homelessness for the first time soon after.

I was originally from Orange County, and I had moved back to look for work here, but none of the opportunities I had hoped for panned out.

Early 2021, I was able to enter the Yale Navigation Center in Santa Ana [a 425-bed emergency shelter for adults, located in Santa Ana that HomeAid developed].

Here, I’m able to look towards my future, while working with the social workers at the facility. I feel excited about the prospect of what’s to come. For the opportunity to establish myself and to get better; that’s what I’m excited about it.

HOUSING NEED BY THE NUMBER

Rising counts in people experiencing homelessness highlight the need for more housing, whether it is affordable housing, transitional housing, or emergency shelters. The first step into getting someone back on their feet is to get them into housing, because homelessness is not healthy for anyone.

IMPACT PROJECT PLAYHOUSE

This popular community event has been thrilling crowds since 1992 with its oneof-a-kind playhouse designs Showcasing the talents and creativity of the building industry, Project Playhouse raises money and awareness about the crisis of homelessness in Orange County. Custom playhouses are constructed by homebuilders, who alongside their trade partners, donate their time, labor, materials, and craftmanship to bring the designs to life.

Project Playhouse returned in 2024 after a 12-year hiatus to once again dazzle kids of all ages The Playhouse Village offered weekend tours where the community could get a close-up view of playhouses Playhouses were auctioned off to the highest bidders at our auction party with proceeds benefiting HomeAid's mission

A GRAND RE-OPENING AT THE FCC

In July 2024, the Family CareCenter was temporarily closed and reopened in August to update and upgrade the interior of the site, as well as welcome a new service provider partner to the team, HIS-OC. Thanks to everyone’s hard work and commitment we have been able to improve the facility allowing us to increase the number of families served.

Upgrades included updates to the restroom facilities, plumbing, electrical, repainting, and the construction of permanent walls to create flexible sleeping bays that accommodate families of all sizes. We are grateful for our partnerships with local city and county agencies, donors, trade partners, and volunteer teams who stepped in with resources and support so we can continue serving families experiencing homelessness in Orange County.

WORDS OF GRATITUDE:

“You won’t find a better program to help you and your family.”

TheHomeAidOrangeCountyFamilyCareCenter

Mitch and Cassandra came to the Family CareCenter with their children, and nowhere to go. Upon arriving at the CareCenter they were astounded by the care, compassion, and dedication of the on-site HIS-OC team. Cassandra said, "If you are in need of a blessing, you’ve found the right place. HIS-OC is caring, compassionate, and will help you get on your feet again." Cassandra and Mitch were able to qualify for a program that paid their first month's rent, deposit, and furniture, worth several thousand dollars in assistance. They were led to an apartmentthattheynowliveinandlove!

Amazingly, the family was able to get back on their feet within 5 short weeks. "The case workers were kind, quick, and incredibly helpful, offering resources and support. The staff loved our children and treated them kindly. They even offeredtohelpthemwithschoolandschoolitems,"saysMitch.

The shelter's set up with cubicle sleeping bays for the families made Cassandra and Mitch feel safe. Activities like playing movies and providing toys and books for the kids, as well as three meals a day, gives a more homelike experience for theresidentsastheyworktowardtheirnexthousingopportunity.

Cassandra says, "If you need work, they will help you find it as well as assisted childcare.There’snoexcusetonotimproveyourlifewiththeirhelp."

With inspiring stories like these, HomeAid OCLA is grateful for the part we play inhelpingpeoplerestarttheirlivesthroughHomeAid-builthousing.
