Last December, Art Basel Miami Beach presented a program of over 50 films and videos by and about artists selected under the title ‘Our Hidden Futures’. In addition to the Film program, sound works by Sofie Alsbo, Alice Jacobs, Mariele Neudecker and Camille Norment were presented on the state-ofthe arts surround sound system in SoundScape Park.

As per the previous editions, Art Basel Miami Beach was not only limited to the walls of the convention centre, where art galleries were housed. Very interesting parallel events were worth the detour. Only a few steps from the beach, over 20 large-scale and sitespecific installations, sculptures and performances were set at Collins Park within the Public program curated by Nicholas Baume under the theme “Metaforms”. The Film sector presented a dynamic series of movies shown on a 650-square meter outdoor

screen designed by famous architect Frank Gehry. At the same time as the art fair, and opposite the convention centre, Design Miami was a must-see to admire or purchase pieces created by renowned designers Ron Arad, Zaha Hadid, Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, the Campana Brothers and Mathieu Lehanneur, to name only a few. Traveling to Miami at the end of the year is one of the best time to take the pulse of the art market. It sets the pace for the sister fair, which takes place in March in Hong Kong and gives us a glimpse on what to expect at the iconic and original edition Art Basel in Basel, scheduled over four days around mid-June every year. www.artbasel.com
