The Battle of the Classes (and the holding power of hairspray) In the autumn of 1986, a ferocious Battle of the Classes was waged. In addition to a mighty three-legged race, death-defying tea-swallowing, jello-eating, and ballon-tossing contests measured the mettle of the classes.
