Candidacy Process – Step-by-Step HAC 2024 Candidacy Step by Step

The following is a summary of the 4 Phases of the Candidacy track for the 2024 Candidacy Cohort that will be completed in Passage UMC (www.passageumc.org). PHASE 1 = Pre-Candidacy..........................................................................prior to December 1, 2023 1. Once your District Superintendent adds you to www.Passageumc.org you will receive an email invitation to login. 2. Once you login to Passage, confirm/update your contact details 3. Scroll down to Tracks and select “HAC 2024 Candidacy Step by Step” to get started. 4. Read and discuss The Christian As Minister with your pastor. 5. Must have been a member of United Methodist Church (or another recognized United Methodist ministry setting, such as a campus ministry) for 1 year immediately preceding candidacy, including a year of service in some form of leadership. 6. Complete and submit your Call statement and candidacy interest (once you mark this step complete your District Superintendent will confirm that you have completed before you can proceed). 7. Complete and submit your Candidacy Application 8. Once you complete PHASE 1 you can move on to PHASE 2. PHASE 2 = Candidacy Summit................................................................................... January 6, 2024 1. Complete and submit your registration for Candidacy Summit (Deadline: December) 2. Attend the Candidacy Summit via Zoom (January 6, 2024) Zoom details can be found on Basecamp. 3. Complete your group mentoring sessions (once you mark this step complete your mentor will confirm that you have completed this step before you can proceed). 4. Once you complete PHASE 2 you can move on to PHASE 3. PHASE 3 = Reporting 1. Background check 2. Form 16: Notarized Disclosure form 3. Form 103: Medical Report of Ministerial Candidate 4. Psychological Assessment 5. Once you complete PHASE 3 you can move on to PHASE 4. PHASE 4 = Certification Process Prior to July 1 for Local Pastor Licensing School and Ministerial Education Fund Qualification 1. Interview with Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee 2. Form 01: Declaration of Candidacy for Licensed or Ordained Ministry and Approval of the Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee 3. Interview with District Committee on Ordained Ministry (DCOM) 4. Form 02: Initial Approval of the Charge Conference for Certification as a Candidate 5. Form 04a: Report of Candidacy Summit – Mentor and Candidate 6. Report of completion 7. Once you complete PHASE 4 you can apply for Local Pastor Licensing School or Ministerial Education Fund Page 1
