Hello and welcome!

Please allow me to extend a very warm welcome to you and your family for what is a very special Holmfirth Food and Drink Festival.

Who would have thought that, back in 2005 we would still be here 10 years later celebrating this incredible milestone.

Much has changed over the years, especially in recent times. For the second year running we are entirely volunteer driven! We are also generously helped by our supporters, Longley Farm, Kirklees Council Creative Events, Holme Valley Parish Council, WH Brown and Holmfirth Enterprise and Development.

This year we have a mix of returning stall holders and new tastes, smells and cultures which I’m sure you will enjoy.

We have lots of family entertainment, from our lively and engaging street artists to face painting. We also have the Calamity Cow Rosette trail that will transport you around the festival, following the purple footprints, sampling the sights, tastes and aromas from each stall as you stop at each along the way.

In closing I would like to thank the team of volunteers who have given their time and resources to help put on this anniversary festival. Without their commitment, hard work and dedication we would not be able to welcome an expected 30,000 visitors to Holmfirth to enjoy this special 10th Anniversary Food and Drink Festival in our wonderful town.

THE LITTLE FAT DUCK

The PizzaLoco trailer is nothing quite like anything else ... and wherever we go it quickly attracts a crowd. We specialise in traditional Neapolitan, thin-crust pizzas with a delicious crispy texture and that authentic Italian taste. The traditional wood-burning oven is designed to heat up to optimum baking temperature – around 350C in a couple of hours. Once it’s fired up it can turn out perfectly crisp thin-crust pizzas at the rate of one every 90 seconds!

We are a family-run farm at Oxspring near Barnsley and have recently started producing and selling Water Buffalo meat.

Water buffalo meat is a lean red meat. Full flavoured and tender, it is often likened to the taste of good quality beef, and can be prepared in the same way.Buffalo meat contains 70% less fat than beef and is also a valuable source of Omega 3, so can be considered a healthier alternative to traditional meats. The animals are bred on the farm and we make all our burgers and sausages at home.

SATURDAY; Good-time girls Freda and Rita are on hand to serve up a large dollop of foody fun from their gorgeous gingham-clad serving trolley.

Their culinary capers will entertain and their giant turkey will wow the crowds. From fingernail checks to orderly line (dancing) these luscious ladies will spread their healthy eating message using comedy, music and dance. So remember to eat your five a day… two chocolate oranges, two toffee apples and a helping of Black Eyed Peas!
