David Rodríguez was born and raised on the island of La Palma. To many people, this may sound exot ic, but to him, it has always been "normal." Although he admits that living surrounded by water can be unique, and determines how to think, act, and create.

BIO AND STATEMENT
After studying for a degree in Psychology at the University of La Laguna (Tenerife), he went to Valencia where he lived and worked for 10 years. It was there that he discovered the world of photography. Al though he had always been attracted to the art world in general, it was not until 2013 that he began to train in this artistic discipline.

Meticulous to the point of exhaustion, David Rodríguez does not like improvisation or leaving anything to chance. “I plan each of my sessions thoroughly, down to the last detail. I start my creative process from an idea, which can be a concept, the stanza of a song, the sequence of a movie or a photograph that I have seen. This initial idea matures until it takes shape ”.
He loves surreal and fashion photography. His main influences are Guy Bourdin, Wille Christie, Man Ray and Joe Gaffney. One day he discovered a photo of Guy Bourdin that fascinated him enormously. In the picture, there was a girl under the water with her eyes and mouth open. David was enthralled with this image instantly and used it as inspiration for his first works.
Currently, he combines his work as a psychologist with photography.

“GLOW” (2022) shows us a collection of sensual and surreal photos. There’s a kind of drama about Rodrí guez´s work and sexuality in his images.

In this series about provocation, surrealism is meant to amuse as much as intrigue, divert as much as a shock, and make us question our reactions. The dance pose to the camera with elegance and self-confi dence in a natural context from the Canary Island of La Palma, a land of volcanoes that contrasts with the colour of their dresses

They seemed like happy victims of his camera, except when they were presented as actual victims with their powerful makeup and incredibly vivid lipstick. Their appearance is often a pastiche of normal fashionability. They frequently look like perfectly painted toys. There is an unexpected juxtaposition of sophistication and utilitarianism but it is also meant to encourage us to question our preconceptions and ask why a woman should not behave as this one is doing.

The team also decided to put the focus on the poses and significance of the images. Diversity isn´t just “colorful” and “loud”, but to show and celebrate the different sides of a per sonality.
“We´re Golden!” were shot in Berlin/Germany. The teams priority wasn´t to include the latest fashion collections this time, but to create something new, fresh, creative and diverse. Robin Höhns mom Gabriele Wanninger tailored the suit for the occasion and used only available materials to represent sustainability and creativity.
The costume made suit was combined with basics from “H&M” and shoes from “Lloyed Sott Wear” (additionals and accessoires were used from the personal fund). Make-Up products: NYX Hair Products: Syoss
