The latest and most exciting Tidy Towns’ project ,‘Faces of Hollyfort’, is a communitybased project. It is historical and creative and has been proposed by photographers Joe Dixon (Gorey) and Jacinta McGovern (Hollyfort) who have kindly offered their services. The project is in three stages: Stage 1 : to record the life of Hollyfort Village through portraits of people who live in or around Hollyfort. Photos will be taken in the Old School. Later by an exhibition and launch of a ‘Faces of Hollyfort’ book. Stage 2 : Environmental Photography classes in the Old School on how to take photographs of Hollyfort people in their environment. Stage 3 :‘Hollyfort: Environmental Photography’ open competition based around Hollyfort. Stage 1 has been postponed and further dates will be advised in due course.

Wexford Trails Hollyfort has now officially registered as a member of the reformed Wexford Walking Trails. Much effort has been spent on getting our Mt Nebo trail ready for accreditation, and we are awaiting an inspection by Sport Ireland. Check out Mt Nebo Trail on Hollyfort blog.

Hollyfort is taking part in the NBDC (National Biodiversity Data Centre) survey on spring flowers. Biodiversity data are a key requirement for understanding our natural surroundings and for tracking change in our environment. Hollyfort is contributing to this survey by submitting records of the 14 most common spring flowering plants growing in the Hollyfort area. There are various surveys online, such as recording butterflies. Get involved and solution. It's easy to register. www.biodiversityireland.ie

May Bush Festival This year, hundreds of whitethorn trees were distributed free to the Wexford community. In Hollyfort, a May Bush was planted in the grounds of the Old School. Help us revive a Hollyfort tradition by decorating the May Bush on the eve of May Day.

Donnelly’s Corner

All thanks to Gorey District Council who installed culverts on this busy junction and also added an artist flare to the new supporting wall and flower bed. Perfect with the old stone wall.
